Default Blender Pens

I recall reading, somewhere on SCS but can't find it, that you can fill an empty Copic marker with Gamsol to make a blending pen for pencils. If anyone is aware of this, did it work well?

Interesting idea. The only thing I'd fret about is how quickly the nib would gum up with the wax from the pencils since you can't clean/sharpen as you would with a stump - be interesting to hear of anyone's experience!

You're right Joanne, found this on I Like Markers:

As you can see, there are many benefits of using pencils with markers, just remember to use the pencils after you're done with your marker layers. Colored pencils are waxy, and the wax is worse than just plain graphite when it comes to clogging and discoloring your marker tips. Just to be thorough, I tested putting colored pencil down first then going over it with an old blender marker. Good thing I used an old tip because it really ruined it. No matter how quickly I scribbled to clean off my tip it was stained badly. Sure, it blended a little bit, smoothed a little bit, but it wasn't worth ruining a good marker tip over.

Guess filling an empty Copic with Gamsol is a bad idea. I read a post on another blog and she did do it but said it released too much Gamsol and was only good on small sections of the piece she was working on. Blender pencils and stumps it is!

Pencils can be waxed based or pigment based.
