Default Tonic Punches?

So I was looking at my paper wishes catalog and saw the tonic punch border system with all the punches that fit into it. It looks like a really cool concept, but before I ask my "santa" to get it for me for the holidays, I thought I would ask around to see what ya'll think of it? Does anybody have it? Good investment or skip it? I teach a lot of card classes at home and am always looking for new things to introduce to my girls, so any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

I personally had it.. and didnt like it. It was hard to punch through SU cardstock and was more geared towards scrapping I think. Just my 2 cents ;)

I have it but don't use it much. You know how you have to line up when using normal edge punches? The tonic system has this weird place marker that you have to figure out the spacing on your own. That is probably why most of their designs do not connect from one punch to the next. Also, I remember that it punched far into the edge and I didn't like that.

I have it and don't like it. Don't use it. Guess it could qualify for the thread for What have you purchased that you regret buying.

Gee, I have it and love it - but I tend to forget I have it and grab my other border punches. It can be tricky to figure out the spacing, but there are some awesome youtube videos out there with hints - and once I have the spacing figured out for the punch, I write it on the bottom so I have it for the next time.

Here are links to the video - it's in 3 parts:

I think my favorite thing about these punches is that you can combine them for custom borders. Also, all the tonic boot-style punches work with the border system, not just teal & grey ones. The corner guards on their corner punches remove easily in two pieces, so they aren't easy to break like the old-style EK Success/Stampin Up ones.

I did have one punch that I had trouble punching thru cardstock with, but I e-mailed Tonic customer service and they had a new one on its way to me in a day.
