TLC298 ~ Stamping With Water~ (11/08/10)
Hello everyone!!! It's my turn again to host the TLC....I don't know about you but I just love to try new techniques!!! It seems the messier the technique, the happier I am...LOL!!! Anyway....I have something fun for you today and the supplies you will need are minimal ....we are going to stamp with water!! Yup...all you need are stamps, ink, sponges, a heat tool, and a spray bottle...how simple is that!!!
1. Sponge a piece of cardstock with ink
2. Mist you stamp with water and stamp on the inked up piece
3. Dry with a heat tool
Here is a tutorial with some extra steps.
Here are my samples:
Fall Foliage
It's a Green Kinda Christmas (I made this last week for the WT challenge...the background uses this technique)
Please remember when uploading to include the KEYWORD TLC298 (no spaces).
You can view the entire TLC298 gallery here.

How cool is that. I hope to play in the morning.
Joan, when I clicked on the emailed link, it took me to the challenge gallery rather than here.

Your card for today's challenge really inspired me, Joan. It is exquisite! My attempts were not so successful. First I tried TH inks....nothing. So I switched to more pigment inks....that went a little better, but not great. Maybe it is my water! : ) I forged ahead anyway...and created a snow storm! : ) I'll give it another try with another stamp and different colors. The results on your card are so spectacular that I'm not giving up! Thanks for coming up with these GREAT techniques.

Hi Patty...I used plain old white cardstock. I also used a lot of ink on the paper so the water would lift the color. If you are having trouble, try misting a little more water and use a lot of pressure on the stamp.

Thanks for the tutorial Joan. Unlike you, I'm usually scared off by these "messy" techniques. But this looks interesting and I'll give it a try. Hope to upload something later today. Thanks for the challenge.

I did it - on the second attempt. I had too much water on my stamp the first time and just washed everything out. The hardest part for me, though, was sponging the cs to start with. I'm missing something or have a mental block about sponging as mine never turn out like I think they're supposed to. :-(
Nevertheless, I persevered and am pleased that the technique worked on my second card

For the Stamping with water techinque challenge TLC298
I sponged the background with three colors of ink, then sprayed water on my Baroque Motifs flourish stamp, stamped on the background and used my heat gun on it. The background image was pretty but very faint so I used the embossing folder for interest. Fun challenge!
Here's my card

If I had time to redo mine I would use an opaque white glitter for the sentiment. I used iridescent and the words are not as white as I would have liked. This is a great technique and I was surprised how much of a stamping off the water did. Here is my "Let it Snow"

Hi! Finally here! I did this three times with three different stamps before you could see the image that was stamped in water. I hope you can see it. I was finally happy with this. I think you just have to use the right stamp and colors of ink.
Here is mine.
Thank you for another new technique!

My Stamping with Water card. What an interesting effect...mine turned out very earthy as I used trees and the CAS color challenge. I esp. like the shimmer IRL. You can barely make out the shadow effect from the stamping with water. Does not show up in photo. Thanks Joan for a fun challenge.
