Tonight we have been sitting around discussing where we were 21 years ago today. We lived in San Jose, California at the time and the San Francisco Giants were playing the Oakland A's in the World Series. At 5:02pm that evening, the Loma Prieta earthquake hit. My youngest two sons had not been born, so they got a kick out of listening to us talk about it tonight.
~ Make it Shimmer ~
Today's technique is brought to you by Lisa Spangler (Sideoats & Scribbles). Lisa tells me that she was taught the technique by Sally Traidman, but that it was also passed on to her, so we're not certain where it initiated. It's a fun one, though! You can find Lisa's step by step tutorial on here blog, HERE.
Your timing is perfect I JUST got pearl stuff yesterday. I have never used it before and this looks fun and easy to do! Thanks for the tutorial on how to! Off to go try it out~~

From experience, lol, Pearl Ex will only work if you add Gum Arabic or use a spray sealer after you're done. In a pinch, you can use aerosol hairspray.
I'll try it, but since I don't have the watercolor pencils nor the Perfect Pearls, I'll have to see what I can substitute, if anything. I'll just play with some scrap paper. I don't have the stamp, but I'm sure that I can find something to substitute for that.
No Perfect Pearls here. I had a go at substituting by using a clear Sakura Stardust pen scribbled on my block and taking the shimmer from that. But it's just as well I doubled it with a HYCCT challenge, because I don't think it's worth uploading for this one .
Don't have any perfect pearls, but used some radiant pearls watered down ... tried to get a photo showing the shimmer on the mummy-wrap and the pumpkin but couldn't do it. Looks cute IRL.
No Perfect Pearls for me either. Since I haven't been able to upload for a looong time, You won't see what I want to try. Maybe Twinkling H2O's will work. They sure add shimmer and I have lots of colors in those.

I like the idea of it, though.
I tried it with what I had, but like everyone else, the shimmer does not show up too well on the photograph. I used a Santa, cartoon type, and since I didn't have the pencils, I used Staedtler watercolor crayons instead and that did seem to work. I used the red, on Santa's coat.
I used Stampin' Up's Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint over the watercolor, again because it was all I had, and it worked as well.
I have uploaded my card, even though I'm not all that satisfied with it. My pink was too dark, I should have used a lighter one. The stars on the card worked out well, but all the colors don't go together as well as I thought they would, again possibly because the pink was too dark. I will try it again with different colors later on today and see if I can do better. One thing I did, which I did like, was to use the same color ink for the distressing on the sides of the picture cardstock, in this case Night of Navy by Stampin' Up, as the base card itself.
I was so glad to do this challenge and use my perfect pearls. I use to use them all the time but got out of the habit. This was timely with Christmas coming up, a perfect Perfect Pearls season, we could all locate them and dust them off in time for our sparkly season. I used black cs and they came up extra shimmery and eerie looking for Halloween. Here is my "HOCUS POCUS MAKE IT SHIMMER"
It was so fun to use Perfect Pearls again! Here is my submission, Perfect Pearls Pumpkin. No matter how I took the photo I couldn't get the shimmer to show, but it IS there...very shimmery IRL.
Thanks for a great challenge. I enjoyed trying out the shimmer with the water colouring. I decided to stretch myself by combining a few challenges. Here is my version.

Wow, looks like lots of new cards have been added since yesterday so I will have lots of new eye candy to check out today. Here is mine, some new papers and images from Melissa Frances, just love her papers.
I remember that day well too. I was sitting in my office and one of my staff came in and said "The bay bridge just collapsed". I didn't believe her. Then I went home and watched the horror stories of the cypress structure for the next 3 or 4 days.
My girlfriend was actually at the game, underneath a huge cement overhang. I'm still amazed by how she said nobody paniced. They just left. It took her about 8 hours to get home to Sacramento I think.
That day, I was up here in Oregon, but I am from the Bay Area originally, and there were friends to be concerned about. DH was watching the game, and it was a while before we understood why the game had suddenly dropped off the air.
