Challenge Title: Somekinda Hope II
Hostess: sara henton
Keyword: HYCCT07
Date: Thursday, October 7, 2010
This is part II of the challenge not to be confused with continuing the challenge. Just the rest of the story - nod to Paul Harvey.
Once again take...
Something borrowed (ok I don't mean you have to go raid your buddies craft stash, you can borrow an idea or CASE someone's creation)
Something... here's the twist...NOT necessarily blue!! Cancer takes makes shapes & shades. So for your color you get to choose one of the colors from the Cancer Ribbon Awareness chart I'm attaching. I got it from www.ChooseHope.com.
Now in my case I did choose blues, but it was because it's kinda close to my heart as my father has suffered from both colon & prostate cancer.

Interesting - am I the only one who thinks it is odd that testicular cancer's color is 'orchid'? You'd think they'd pick something more manly since this is one of the few cancers women can't get. Soooooo many types of cancer, zero cures, so sad. I hope someone can figure how to beat this with less invasive and debilitating procedures someday soon.
This is a nice idea, Sara. I will probably use purple as it is the color for Relay for Life, coming up in a few weeks in my community. It's an annual fundraiser for all cancers that I participate in each year. I am optimistic about the evolution of cancer treatment and there are lots of 'survivors' out there to talk about it.
I'm glad you said the 'borrowed' could be an idea from another wonderful stamper. My colors are pink & lt blue for mom and dad's battles with cancer. Both survivors I am happy to say. Here is my card which shows my love for them both: Roses on vellum by angelsparkly - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers

Orchid is the Latin root word for testis and is commonly used in medical terminology for diseases and procedures involving the testicles. I'm not sure that the cancer color association came from this...but maybe so.
this is a fantastic awareness challenge alos. I wasn't aware of that many different colors for so many different cancers. We are busy redoing a bathroom, but I have a
few more weeks to work on challenges, hooray

This was tough, even though I lost my Grandpa so long ago....I usually get to live in my own little world of denial......came out for a bit just to make this card using blue/violet for him.
Lovd this challenge. Something borrowed I CASE'd thus card. And something not necessarily blue. I am a Uterine cancer survivor of 7 years now so therefore I used Peach.

Finally got this one done. This one really stumped me until re-read the instructions and saw the hint to "borrow" from another stamper. this one is cased from one of Faith's that I've had in faves for some time. just got a bunch of retired inks to play with so here is the result...
