TLC294 ~ Wet Paper Stamping~ (10/11/10)
Hello everyone and welcome to this weeks TLC...I am really excited about this technique because it is sooo easy and makes such a beautiful look!!! Today we are going to do Wet Paper Stamping!!
I found this wonderful technique on my friend Kathy's blog,Lucky Stamper...she made a gorgeous fall card and added some flower soft to the trees!!
Here is my tutorial for Wet Paper Stamping
Some things to remember:
1. Make the watercolor paper fairly wet in order for the ink to bleed.
2. Stamp you image in a lighter color and dry with a heat tool.
3. Make sure the first image is dry before stamping the second one in order to achieve a clean image
Here are my samples:
Lavender Christmas
Oh Christmas Tree
When uploading use the keyword TLC294 (no spaces)
You can view the entire TLC294 gallery Here

Love this technique. Interesting that you used watercolor paper. I've always used shimmery white (or Curious Metallic Cryogen white) cardstock.

I love the sound of this, but I can't try it yet - I don't have any watercolor paper! I'll see if I can find some at the local craft store, but she is very limited in what she has. I'll order it next time from Stampin' Up, but that won't be a month or two. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's creations.

This is my first submission for TLC, it was fun trying to get my ink to run. Where are all those past "mistakes" when you need them? lol

Thank you for the technique.

Why don't you try regular cardstock...as long as you don't get it too wet and don't do too much manipulation it won't peel. You can also ink up the stamp, mist it with water, stamp it, dry image with a heat tool, and stamp again with a darker color...different technique but you can get the same effect!! Hope this helps!!

You can buy watercolour paper at any art store, and probably most big chain stores that carry craft/art supplies. I've bought it at discount stores too. It comes in a wide variety of thicknesses and surfaces, so you get different looks with each paper. As for 'can you do it on other paper'- well, just try it out on a scrap! You just don't want the paper to be too thin (the water will wrinkle the paper) or too smooth- the water and the ink will sort of slide around without absorbing into the paper too well. But your best bet is just to experiment. Try different cardstocks if you have them. I keep samples of things I try in a book so I can leaf through it when I'm looking for some kind of look.
