Bazill the Blade-Killer

I'm finishing up some Halloween cards on my Slice, using some Bazzill I got at Archiver's last weekend. (Perfect match for the other cardstock I was initially using and ran out of.)

I love Bazill because it's so sturdy, making it very easy to run through the Xyron and making it much less likely to bend or crease while you're taking it off the Slice glass. But ...

My first two cuts didn't cut through the paper. I rehomed my blade and it cut almost half of it all the way through on the third cut. I adjusted the blade and VOILA! A clean cut. Not so on the next try.

Frustrated, I changed the blade. SUCCESS!!! But five or six cuts later ... not cutting through it again. Out of frustration, I started cutting other stuff I needed using a piece of black texture cardstock from Michael's. No problem. Witch hats and boots, bats, letters -- everything cut perfectly.

Apparently, Bazzill is a real blade-killer for the Slice. So, if you're doing something that you need to make MANY cuts with, don't use Bazzill paper with the Slice. Lesson learned.

I use Bazzill in my Cricut Expression and it kills the blade after a few cuts too. It also has layers because sometimes in the smaller cuts it peels and frays the edges. I love their cardstock, but I am going to try some others brands with the Expression to see if they work better.

I didn't realize it was my Bazzill paper that was killing my blades. Thank you!
