Do you purchase/order 1 or 2 NEW Holiday stamps every year?
Curious, because I've gotten out of the habit of doing this. I just don't want to be overloaded with stamps I don't get any use out of beyond the initial Holiday card-making frenzy. I'm tempted, of course - case in point - new Winter Magnolias...but, no, I'm better off without. And, because I make quite a few, I know I'm better off not ordering those which require a time consuming coloring job.

When I first started stamping, I ordered a couple new Christmas sets every year. Now, more than a few years into it, not so much. I have quite a stash of Holiday sets that I can use and a number of stamping friends I can borrow from. I did just order Dasher from the catty. I have seen so many cute things done with him and he is less than 9 dollars.

Yes, I unfortunately order some new ones to mix with the old ones to make them look entirely like a whole new set... There is always something out there that I just think I HAVE to HAVE!

I am bad, I always seem to add 6 new sets each year to my collection. Nice to see people who have some self control....LOL...I just ordered several new sets from PTI and I also ordered a lot from Elzybells that were Christmas theme with her closing down. I am going to have a huge variety of Christmas this year.

a set or 2? Heck, I just ordered 2 sets from the Holiday Mini and 2 or 3 (or was it 4?) from PTI. Oh, and the two sets from someone on BST here. :-)

I have more holiday stamps than I will ever use. Every time I am tempted I tell myself that one in, one out. That normally stops me.

I have been trying to cut back on buying seasonal stamps but my weakness is paper. This season there are some really cute papers available and I have to say no to buying. I also purge my collection of stamps and paper each spring so that I can make room for something new and different.

I have been trying to not buy any new stamps. Period. I have somewhere around 1200 individual stamps and I think I may have only used about maybe 100 of them for cards (I tend to use a lot of digi stamps too). I'm a sucker for anything Christmas, so probably about 20% of my stamps are Christmas stamps and I only send out 10 cards (5 of 2 different designs) every year. So I have enough Christmas stamps to last me another 100 years...

This just made me laugh so hard. I don't have as many stamps as you overall, but probably my ratio of Christmas stamps to cards sent is about the same. I always fail to restrain myself from buying more each year.
But actually I'm worse with Halloween. I only make about 3 cards each year, but I'm weak at the knees when I see Halloween stamps.

I will likely buy most of the SU sets this year although I have several already. I just need to use them all! maybe next year I will use a different set for each card - I do maybe 100 or so. Don't really need many more though... just a poinsettia or two..lol

I only have two Christmas sets. Can you believe that? And I've been stamping for five years! I'm too practical to buy lots.
I also have Wandering Words and that has a Santa and sleigh stamp with it.
I used it last year and I'm using it again in a really different way. I also have quite a few $1.00 stamps with a holiday theme to mix it up with little expense.

Last year I didn't get many new sets and I have more than made up for it this year. I have made a ton of cards and am planning a big stamp camp. For the first time, I went through my older sets and am actually going to part with some of them. I still love them but there are only so many stamps I can use each Christmas.

one or two tops but what I DO do is get rid of ones I have had a while.
the very first year I was into Card making I had the SU! snowflake Punch and stamp set. by the time I finished making the 125 cards I LOATHED that punch . the next catalog it was retired and suddenly LOTS of people were begging for it and the stamp set, so I sold 'em. somebody else got very happy and I never had to punch 125 snowflakes again.
Now I play it smart and have several sets that I make liek 25 cards from. I don;tget tiored of the set, and I end up with many different designs to send out

Oh dear. Christmas stamps are my weakness. Every year I tell myself I won't buy any this year, and every year I cave. I have somewhere in the region of 20-30 sets, plus some individual ones. So far this year I've ordered a bunch of singles from elzybells and a PTI set. And I have a SU! set from the mini on my list to order at my next club. I could probably make Christmas cards for the next 30 years without buying another holiday stamp. But I know I will. I do make and give/send out a lot of Christmas cards though.

I don't refrain. LOL Last year I bought Dasher (love him BTW!) and one other Christmas set. Am planning on buying one this year - not sure which yet, but know I need one!
I am a sucker for Hallioween stamps too! Bought Wicked Cool and Dark and Dreary and may buy another this month. I joined a stamp club in January and have to purchase $25 of merchandise each month.

Christmas stamps are my favorite! No way I can limit myself to just one or two new sets per year. I feel no guilt over them, though. I make and send about 80-100 Christmas cards, and I never mass-produce. I generally make from 1-4 of a design, then get bored and make something different. So in any given year, I might make as many as 30 or 40 different designs. My Christmas stamps definitely get used.

I realized this year I have no Christmas set just snowmen sets. What how did that happen? I guess I just love those snowmen. I started making Christmas cards for the unit and I felt weird making snowmen cards for those in Iraq. I know even thought they will be sending them to family here, it still felt weird. I really need to get some nice Christmas ones. I am thinking I will get 2 or 3 new sets this year. I didn't think to check on the BST here. What a great idea.

I usually do buy one or two sets for Christmas. One or two for Halloween too.
I did buy the Hallowee already. I'm forceing myself NOT to buy Christmas. I'm not making my cards this year anyhow (having a baby in Nov, so I"m doing a combo baby announcement/Christmas photo card) and I still have a set from last year I didn't use.
I do sell mine used after I use them though, so it's not so bad. Last year it was all Papertrey's snowflake seranade for me. This year (for the handful I'll still do) I have that ornament set from Stampin' Up still from last year.
I do have a great Christmas greeting set I hold on to and use every year.

I began stamping with SU! and a stampers 10 club just to justify the purchases and make my holiday cards each year instead of going to the day after christmas sales and not being able to find cards that I liked that were good enough to hold onto til next year.
That being said, I normally buy 1 holiday stamp set, but this year I'm buying 3-4 plus the northern flurries embossing folder. Go figure! I told myself that with this catalog I'd stop the S10 thing at the end of June or I'd have to begin purging stamp sets every July 1 so I can have room for the new stuff and not get bored with hoarding the holiday sets that drew me to SU! in the first place

Previously I would order a set or two each year for the holidays but over the last 3 years I just brough one Penny Black set with decent sized stamps and since I tend to make one or two designs they were perfect for a few years This year I just brought one stamp for about $6 plus postage and am making all cards out of that.

Each year I search to find the "perfect" Christmas stamp, but only one stamp - not a set.
I do not use it again because I make all my Christmas cards (about 30 or so) just alike. I usually try to pass it along to someone who likes it as much as I did.
When I first started making cards, I bought a large set of small Christmas motif stamps at Michaels. You know, little snowmen, santa, mittens, stockings, etc.
If I get inspired to make gift tags those are what I use.

I've only been buying for a few months, but I have most of the Elzys, Dasher, the SU Christmas Dove, the PSX Poinsettia, and a few others.
And yes, I'm buying more.

I do every year. I get bored with old ones. I also like to send new cards with images than I did the year before.
I sell my old ones I know I will not use on Ebay and use that money to buy new ones.

Thanks for your admiration:grin: - but that self-control only applies to my Christmas card stamp!
I buy lots of other stamps and sets of stamps. And let's not even start talking about pattern paper. I have so little resistance where paper is concerned. It's just so pretty!

And by the way, I really admire you all who can show some self restraint! It's something I do not have when it comes to stamps...or clothes...or shoes...or food a lot of times:-) Says the girl who just got home from the mall.....lol! I'm looking to get a new job (and one that would come with a significant pay increase) which actually may NOT be a good idea if I have even more money to spend, lol!

I have a lot of Christmas stamps, and I make a lot of Christmas cards (probably 100+ because I sell them) and they are all different so they go to good use. But last year I only bought a few new stamps and this year I've received some from DT stuff, so I don't think I'll be buying many more..

I've enjoyed reading all your replies! Guess most of you just have to have new Christmas/Holiday images every year...well, it was just a day after I started this thread when I realized I couldn't quite hold off without at least one new image. And, it's one I'll have to spend some time with - won't use it for all my cards, however, just some special ones.
Here's the Mo Manning in Rubber I couldn't resist:

oops...didn't link you to the specific stamp - just scroll down to "Choir with a Star on Top"
