If you're like me, you have a large wish list that keeps growing every time a new mini comes out! I'm going bonkers over the new spring mini. I can't possibly buy everything I want. So, I have to slim it down. It's oh so painful! And I'll change my mind 50 times before I can buy anything next month! LOL!
One set that is calling me is Simply Said. I decided to see if I could recreate one of the images. Here's Faux Simply Said that I made last Saturday! Gallery at Splitcoaststampers
During another LSC, Winnie_555 made a DIY stamp out of scraps that looks like Shapes and Shadows. Gallery at Splitcoaststampers
Your challenge this week is to fake it! What stamp can you recreate in an alternative way? With this creation, you may make a card or scrapbook page with your new "stamp". I know this is a REAL challenge, but think of it as exercise for VSN You can choose any colors and embellishments you desire!
I just read a post from Chef Mama saying that she is going to make the BIG Monogram Alpha stamps from foam and computer fonts. I have thought of this before and maybe this challenge is what I need to get me to try it out.... tomorrow of course!
That's mine! It is way...........nicer IRL. I think it's the knot in the twill that made the scan all blurry and cut at least an inch off the left side. To bad cause I'm actually proud of this one. This is a fun challenge I think I might just have to try and come up with another.
Jen, you're killing me! Ladies, don't let your husbands see this thread or the samples! LOL! Of course I NEED that set! I already bought over half the spring mini (well, not if you count all the letters of monogram). Usually if there's only one stamp in a set that I really want, it's the saying. But, I will definitely try to find something! Thanks for the challenge.
Jen, this is a great challenge! I am often torn with wanting new sets & then asking myself just how much I will *really* use it. Or I see a set, but just want one stamp out of it (which of course is not a good deal, then!). I am busy getting the furnace fixed this morning & then a *big* birthday party of little boys tonight. Hopefully I can find time to play tomorrow. I already have some ideas.
Location: in my "crapbooking" room, so my husband says!

I can not believe what you ladies come up with. i would have never thought of fauxing a set, I would only buy it. What are you all thinking?! LOL I am going to try and come up with something but this is REALLY out of my box!
LOL!! Since I am new to stamping, I have VERY limited supplies and figured that I would have to "fake" today challenge!! The wheels are spinning and after my morning of running around (my limited supplies means I gotta buy supplies to make classroom valentines!!) I will try to play! Thanks for the challenge!!
Here is my attempt to turn the larger flower from Best Blossoms into the daisy type flower from Petal Prints. I cased the whole concept from the Very Talented...Trudee! Thanks for the inspiration Trudee and a big Thank You to Jen for the challenge! It was fun!
Oh my word!!! What a GREAT IDEA JEN!!!! You are on a roll!!!
I have not been home the last few weeks so I am not sure if I can get to this today or not but I will hopefully give it a try soon! I have missed being a part of the challenges!!!!
So was this challenge supposed to make us want stuff less or want stuff more? I definately want Looks Like Spring and the spring mini patterned papers even MORE now!!!
Hi Ladies...first time posting and I just had to tell you that I ordered tons of things from the Spring Mini and they just arrived this morning....can't wait to start using them.
Welcome! Thanks for posting! Once you start, you won't be able to stop! Believe me! Get stamping with those new sets, I can't wait to see what you come up with!
...just a little envious...

Ok, how fun was THAT? I had a blast with this one. I spent time that should have been spent on homework making this card...but oh well! It was so fun! Thanks again Jen!
Fun and challenging, thanks. I tried to replicate the Spring '06 "Good Things Grow" set. I like that set so I thought I could come close to the leaf stamp in that set. Used retired "Shape of Things" and then kissed it with the leaves stamp from "Petal Prints". It did not scan too well, but it shows up well in real life. Also wanted to try using the wide twill. Made a buckle from shrink plastic to contain the wide twill. This was a fun challenge. I may try it again and see if I like the results a bit better.

What a great challenge. I've really enjoyed everyone's ideas so far. Thanks for the tips. Have to play much later. I really need to fill out the job application which got buried under all my stamping. I really was going to fill it out the other day, but you know how it is. I really got sidetracked big time.
Here's my card. I tried to replicate the crosshatch background with an acrylic block and a marker. My conclusion? It'll be well worth spending the $17 to get the stamp!

Ok, so not much here is faked, but I have wanted Print Pattern forever, but it pains me to spend 16.95 on one single stamp! So, I made my own with scraps of rubber and a block of wood I stole from DH's stash in the garage. I like it, I may not get the real thing. Save the money for some new monogram letters.... Anyway, here is mine:
Here's another faux Simply Said. This one is combined with SC58 and FEBVSND. I'm so glad I'm finally feeling well enough to stamp I've been sick all week, yuck!
Here's my card. Didn't try to copy the stamps from the Flower Filled set exactly. Just cut random pieces of scrap rubber in the shape of a vase, leaf and flower. The card on the left side of the picture is from the catalog. My card with hand made stamps is on the right side of the photo. Needs some work but I think it turned out ok for a first attempt.
I did one card for the challenge, but cannot remember how my demo (a.k.a. my computer teacher!!) told me to connect it to the comments!! Oh, well!! Have more pockets already started, so hopefully I will get a couple of more "faux pocket" cards done tomorrow a.m.!!
