I just got an ad from Oh My Crafts. Provo Craft has a new machine called Imagine. Cricut Imagine Machine
The cricut cartridges work with the Imagine, but the Imagine cartridges do not work with the cricut. Does anyone know if Provo Craft is getting rid of the Cricut or if Imagine is just a more expensive machine they will add to their line?
No they are not getting rid of the small one. The big new one I saw on QVC the other day...it prints your color picture, then backs up and cuts where you tell it to. I want one!!
the small one will be around forever they said on the show...
No they're not getting rid of the others. They can't. My hubby was so sweet....He ordered one for me the day they came out on HSN...Can't wait to get it and start playing......
I didn't order one, but watched all the demos on HSN on their craft day. One thing they didn't make too clear, but finally addressed when someone called in about it:
Yes, you can use the older, regular Cricut cartridges in the new Imagine machine. BUT when using the old cartridges the Imagine will only cut the images, not color them.
Evidentally the color/printing technology is built into the new cartridges made especially for the Imagine machine.

The Imagine also doesn't work with Design Studio. I'm going to pass. I think it would take all the creativity out of my crafting. The ink cartridges would be cost-prohibitive for me as well. But that's just me. I hope everyone who invests in it has lots of fun with it.

I agree completely. I enjoy my Expression, but I have zero desire to "upgrade" to this product.
I feel one of their marketing mistakes for this product is to announce that now, you'll only ever need to get inexpensive white carstock....Not realizing that many of their customers are pretty paper addicts LOL
The videos I've seen show the printed designs coming out lookin g like warped wet paper...No way would I trade beautiful glossy, glittery, flocked paper for THAT!!
Love my expression and hope they dont drop that great product.
I can't get past the cost of these expensive items!! I won't be buying any of them any time soon. I do have the BUG...which I love, but that's it for me!!
The imagine looks REALLY cool! I think I'll wait to see how everyone likes theirs before biting the bullet ;)
I agree. I would love to get this but I want to make sure it is worth the price. Speaking of price, I can only assume this will go down in time so maybe I should just wait...;)
To me this looks no better then clipart. I think Provo Craft missed the boat with this one. I don't think they realized how much crafters enjoy the art of doing things by hand. For some crafters I'm sure they will love it but it's not for me.
I saw that on HSN. I thought it was pretty cool. Then I saw the price and thought...not in this lifetime. I'm even fighting back and forth about a Cricut Expression. I just can't make up my mind. And I don't want to be stuck with a machine that only works with cartridges.
