A huge thanks to Anne for bringing you the Inspiration Challenge last week while I was in Kansas City enjoying a fabulous annual weekend getaway with my sister. One of the stores we checked out while we were there was World Market. As I looked at different things, I kept thinking … that would make a cool card … and thus, this week’s Inspiration Challenge was born.
In the late 1950s, a San Francisco businessman turned traveler and importer began selling shiploads of hand-woven wicker from one of the city’s piers. As crates were unloaded, locals lined up and loaded up. Even curious tourists were drawn to the unique and unusual. With such a receptive audience eagerly awaiting his return, it only made sense to open a store. And in 1958 he opened the first store in San Francisco’s famed Fisherman’s Wharf and called it World Market. The store quickly became a destination for those who craved original and handmade items from around the world. Items were sold at cost, plus ten percent – hence the name Cost Plus World Market!
Choose from eye-catching, trend-setting home accents, an awe-inspiring array of international foods and wines, and much more.
For those of you who say you get overwhelmed with having too many choices, I’ve uploaded three of my favorites … so just stick with one (or all) of those for your inspiration. The rest of you, remember to let us know which product from World Market that inspired you.
Use the keyword: IC249 (no spaces or extra characters) when you upload your card, and make sure you put commas between your key words.
How to Play ~ View the attached images. You may be inspired to recreate the pieces ~ but that isn't necessary ... get your inspiration from the colors, layout, style or 'theme'. Just enjoy wherever your inspired creative journey takes you. Remember, if you are inspired by the creation of another artist, please do not use print-outs of the art in your creation or directly copy their work. Make the inspiration piece your own. Don't worry ~ no card is 'wrong' and there is no time limit for uploading your card for the challenge. There are no rules, so let your creative juices run wild ~ be *inspired* and go get stamping!
Don't forget about No Upload Sunday - Let's give the gallery moderators a day off and not upload on Sunday (unless, of course, you are a Fan Club member - yet another reason to spend a little money on your favorite site). Also, remember to link to your SCS gallery on this thread. Thank you for joining me on this inspiration journey.
Stef, what a great site! Just browsed a few things and WOW! I am so inspired! Thanks again. :0)

Great site again, Stef......and interesting learning the story. I have a World Market about 7 miles from me and it is always an interesting place to browse.
I was drawn to a pillow and really didn't do anything clever with it, but I had fun die cutting and putting pieces together. Thanks for another fun challenge!
Stef..........here's my card for today. I've been over 2 hours trying to load....our internet service is horrible today. We have 4 computers in this house and none were working so I checked my router and there was no traffic flowing..........
so I finally was able to get loaded. Don't know how long this will stay up.....I will comment on the other cards as my "iffy" internet allows.
Great challenge. I love World Market.
Tina

You've chosen one of my old favorites for the Inspiration challenge today. Back in the late 70's I'd get on the bus and go to SFO, mainly to go to this store. I could spend hours in there browsing. That's back in the "good ole days' when this store was truly unique. We always came home with the original gummy bears and a Toberlone (spelling) bar.
Now we have a store locally and it just doesn't seem to be the same.
Now to see if I can be inspired enough to play along and get something completed. My inspiration and drive left me a week ago. I play, but no results come out of it.
