Cardstock questions

I have a couple of questions about cardstock. Does anyone use the Georgia Pacific 110lb weight cardstock from Wal-Mart? Do you like it? What are the pros and cons of it. Also, is PTI cream colored cardstock anything like SU Very Vanilla. Ok, thanks a bunch!

I have used the Georgia Pacific from Walmart - it is fine, but I don't like it as well as SU when I am coloring. I don't think it is quite as smooth. The PTI cream is a heavier weight than SU Very Vanilla. I like to use the PTI when I am using it for a card base.

The GREAT thing about Walmart's Georgia Pacific is that it is CHEAP. If you make tons of cards, as I do, it is fine for the card base and you can add more expensive stuff, or other colors of cardstock to dress it up endlessly.

I agree with grannyirma! I buy a similar cardstock to GP at Sams for a very reasonable price.

I make lots of cards and use it for all my card bases. I also like it just fine for stamping and coloring images.

I don't like to feel that if I make a mistake I've wasted a ton of money on a piece of paper!

I used to use it for coloring with copics and colored pencils. My copic ink was bleeding out of the lines most of the times so I decided to try something else. I now use couture 80lb card stock for my coloring and I have to say it is so much better (for coloring). But I still use GP for white layers or when I need to stamp a sentiment and for decorating the inside of the card. I don't and never have used it as a card front though, it seems to thin and I prefer colored card fronts.

I use it as my card base and then just layer my colored cardstock on it to make a card front.

I don't use it for coloring with pencils or copics nor card base. However, I use it for layering / matting when I need white, for the inside of the card (and I stamp on it although do not color), and cut it to size to put in the envelope (on top of the card front) when I have used embellishments that stick out on top. I also use it for printing journaling when I scrapbook.

I also use SU Whisper White, PTI white, and GKD white (80 lb and 120 lb). Each has a different purpose. I can't stick with just one brand.

Like a lot of the stampers have already indicated, I, too, use the GP white CS. I've never used any other white. I use it for my base and go from there. I've not tried to color directly on it so can't help you there. HTH>

I agree with most ---I do not use it for the card base. I want heavier cardstock for that and love SU Whisper White. But I use it all the time for layering. I color on it, etc., Cannot beat the price!

I also have several white cardstocks that I buy, those for coloring with copics, those I like to do watercoloring on and cheaper stuff....There's rarely anything wrong with the cheaper stuff, but for some projects, often if you want the super smooth type for coloring or the slightly rougher stuff for watercolor then you may have a specific brand you prefer. Else, I use the cheaper stuff for the base of most projects, it's gonna be layered on anyways.

I used it, up until I placed it next to SU Whisper White. I was showing it on display as a comparison tool. Once I saw it with my own eyes and then felt the difference, I was hooked on Whisper White forever. I do wish SU was a little heavier.

Like most, I use it for layering and not as a base.

I also like it for prisma pencils and gamsol technique.

I usually buy 6 reams of the GP at sams at a time and go to the office depot or office max and have them cut it in half. I make soooooo many cards this is a huge time saver for me. It is fine.

I use the GP110 for almost all my projects. The biggest pro is convenience (no need to order) and price ($5 for 150 sheets and no shipping charges). Cons... it's not as smooth as the SU Whisper White or as sturdy as the PTI white. I also find that, although my coloring is just fine on the GP110, the SU markers work much more smoothly on the SU cardstock. But for the convenience and price savings it's worth it.

I have both the SU very vanilla and the PTI vintage cream. They are very similar but not exactly the same. I find that when I use certain patterned papers that have a cream colored element in them that one cardstock will look better than another. I really like very vanilla. I mostly got the PTI cream because it's heavier weight and great for card bases.

I like to use it to print off digi images. You can't beat the price! It doesn't "blend" as well when I use my Copics as the Neenah Solar White I have used, but it's okay. I don't think I would use it as a base - too flimsy. However, for layers, it's perfect!

Do you know if the GP card stock comes in colors anywhere (office supply or whatever)? I know Walmart doesn't carry anything but white, but was just wondering about maybe a cream or black?
