PAPERTREY ink Paper VS. Stampin'up CARDSTOCK
Hello! I am wondering what kind of solid card stock you all use. I love bazzill for my Quickutz dies and sizzix, For my cricut machine I use bazzill but, have to set my pressure and speed accordingly. I've seen many like paper trey ink and SU cardstock.. Papertrey inks paper has great prices but, wondering how many of you like it? Does it have a white core? I have a few packs of stampin up paper and it seems to have a glossy finish to it or is that just the whisper white card stock?
Just wanting some advice on this.. Thanks!

PTI Paper is THE BEST!!!!!! It is SOLID COLORED!!!!!! Now another that I REALLY like is MFT papers, not as thick as PTI but GREAT quality...
I gave away all of my SU paper and am using PTI and MFT solely now! Great Price, and SUPER Customer Service/Shipping on both companies!!!!
PTI is similar to SU colored cardstock. Their white is much heavier than SU. Whisper white isn't really glossy, but it has a super smooth surface which really makes your stamped images turn out nicely. I ended up selling all my PTI inks & paper. It's just too similar to SU! and they can't seem to get the quality issues resolved on their inks, so I've decided to stick with Stampin' Up since I know their quality is top-notch.

Hi Stephanie, Thanks for your reply. I do have the SU whisper white card stock. Is all their paper the same texture the smooth cardstock? to me it just has a glossy feel. I am semi- new to SU. Just from looking on the website of PTI and SU ~ On PTI site- they have less colors, but cheaper and you get more for your money and the quality is good. As for stampin up you get less for more money, but they have more colors and the weight is only 80lb and from what I have read the more the weight of the cardstock the better your image stamps. Just my observations and looking on the sites... Thank you so much for your input.;)

SU white has a bit of a sheen I suppose, it's a bit different than other card stocks. Like the other poster mentioned it does stamp really well! It's something about the finish that makes it stamp really smooth! Now, they do also have a glossy card stock that is really shiny...just making sure that is not what you have! All of the colored card stock is matte and just like regular card stock so it's not like the white! I really love it too and love that all the colors match with the inks and stuff.
SU white does stamp well like I said (it's my fave) but it is a bit flimsy for a card base so that's something to consider too. I don't ever use it for a base but I prefer a colored base anyway. The colored CS works just great for a base. They do have textured but you have to buy it in 12 x 12 packs and you get 6 smooth sheets and 6 textured, which I don't mind but I know others are kind of bummed about that! Good luck!
I find the PTI cardstock to be much better for coloring images. If I try to use copics on Whisper White from SU, they just kind of slide around on the smooth surface, but they blend well on the PTI. Both SU and PTI have a great range of colors and I seem to "need" them all, LOL, both have nice quality. I only prefer the white from PTI, but love all the colors from both companies.
I use mostly SU cardstock but like PTI colored cs. I use SU because the colors match and it's very nice paper. I prefer SU whisper white for stamping solid images and for watercoloring or using a blender pen. I don't use copics or prismas...I almost always watercolor. I like PTI white or ivory for a card base.
I don't have SU! but I just recently got my PTI cardstock. And I agree with gale there, I can't use my MS deep edger punch :crying: I think I was able to use the doily lace punch...
I also found with a stampin up razzleberry cardstock, I couldn't use a fiskars punch.
I do love the papertrey ocean tides color of cardstock and find it to be of equal
quality of SU, but I love the color challenges on this site and they use SU cardstock.
So, I'm torn between SU, but also love gina K white cardstock for the clearest of images
when stamping. SU prices have been discussed on this site also in todays postings

I think they both have their place. PTI's colors are great, but fairly limited. SU has a larger color range. I think PTI's cardstock makes a superior card base when compared to SU. But, because PTI's cardstock is so heavyweight, it can limit some techniques like using detailed punches. I know my Slice machine had more of a problem cutting PTI than it did cutting SU.
I'm going to stick with PTI for card bases and some layering, with SU for most of my layering.
A couple of people have mentioned that PTI does not have as many colors as SU. PTI introduces a new color collection every other month. There was a new one in July, so there will be another new color on Sept 15. There is no stated (as yet) maximum number of colors, so maybe they'll keep going as long as we buy it.
Others have also mentioned that the SU white and ivory are too lightweight to make a good card base. I'll probably not be buying any white or ivory from SU any more, but as far as the other colors go...I have all colors from SU, and all colors from PTI, and some from Gina K. That way I have the maximum number of choices for any crafting eventuality!
