what comes to mind (beside school and autumn)! I make monthly cd case calendars for some friends of mine, and September has me totally uninspired! These are work desk calendars, and the whole school theme doesn't apply (especially since school now starts in August :rolleyes. Autumn is the only thing that comes to mind, so I thought I'd pick your brains to see if any of you have some brilliant ideas for me. I need to get cracking on these babies! Thanks!

Well around here, it is apple picking time in September, thats what it reminds me of.
I guess I think of changing leaves because up here they start to turn colour in September. I make a card or two with leaves as the focus, because they can be generic enough for a man, or sympathy.
Although for a calendar page, you may want to save that for October... so that may have been no help whatsoever!
A lot of clubs and programs start up again in September though, maybe a local club comes to your mind or an exercise program. How about football? Nike swish?
I was going to suggest Apples, Indian Corn, Scarecrows, Hay Bales that sort of thing which leaves something more Halloween themed for the October page. But football is a good theme too since the pro season will kick off that month.
Lots of "back to school" stuff focuses on elementary type images; but what about something more college focused? It's still school...but more grown up!
Maybe a mug of hot apple cider (with a cinnamon stick!)? Or goldenrod? (I'm allergic to it, so I KNOW that usually blooms in September!!) September is a hard month because it's really a change of seasons - I can't wait to hear what you decide to do!!!

September is the hottest month for us and the last thing I can think about is leaves changing and apple harvests. September is about getting through the hot day at school or work then going to go to the beach or park and pretending that it's still summer.

Haha. In the SOUTHERN hemisphere, September is Springtime. So all those lovely flowers and chickens and iddy biddy lambikins, foals and weddings are what come to MY mind. lol.
My parents were married on the first of September, in Melbourne, and I always associate September with weddings as well. We don't do many summer brides, its too hot and too christmas/New year/school holidays with a million screaming kids.
Lots and lots of flowers, hey, wattle, baronias, warratahs, stuff like that.

LOL, September's the hottest month for Texas, too--well maybe not *the* hottest, just the most unbearable, since we're soooo tired of it.
Anyway, my first reaction was 'Hot cider and sweaters?!?! How about eggs frying on the sidewalk?'

oooooo, do lambikins! Lambikins wearing wreathes of wattle, baronia and warratah. . . . I have no idea what any of that it, but I bet it'd look great on a lambikin!
September is sunflowers hanging their heavy heads down for the birds to eat, and saying goodbye to my bold brightds flower garden. Shorter days, longer nights, red wine and getting the winter clothes down from the attic.... planting bulbs for spring.... I love what everyone else has shared, thanks for starting this thread....
For me here in Wisconsin I think of cool nights and warm days. Gorgeous colorful leaves.
Apples. Smells of wood burning stoves.
I think you need to go based on where you live and what is good for September in your area. Is there a main event for you area in September?
These wonderful descriptions of September have me anxious for the month to arrive! Autumn is my favorite season! September in the garden means sunflowers, mums, asters, morning glories, and coleus. Of course, Sept. also means harvest season...the end of tomatoes, apples, apple cider, and apple fritters...mmm. Cooler days, sweater weather, it's all wonderful.
I lived in Texas for 8 years. I hear you on the hot sidewalks, who needs a frying pan, right? Now I live in Eastern Tennessee, so apples, fall foliage and pumpkins come to mind for September.

That and football. . . . .

Love this too...in fact I have a VERY old SU lamb (ewe) set...I'd probably have to explain it to my friends, though.;) I might have to do it just for kicks!
I love hearing everyone's ideas of September from their neck of the woods. Around here fall cannot come soon enough! (I am soooo tired of extreme heat and humidity!)
Great Thread!! Ah yes, our perspectives on September are definitely shaped by our location. Like the Texas girls, September in Florida is reminiscent of Ground Hog Day (the Bill Murray version) very hot just like June, July and August. I spent my first 50 years in Massachusetts, so September up there was transition time, lots of apples and change in wardrobe colors. Since moving to Florida almost 9 years ago, Im still wearing all my summer clothes, my leaf-peeping is now done online and as Karla said, our one true constant is FOOTBALL!
Thats my long-winded way of saying I start making my Halloween cards in September! ;)

Same with me - grew up in Texas - - Now live in Knoxville. I will definitely say it is still HOT here in September, but it is much cooler than the rest of those places.
Football is definitely a big thing that comes to mind for September. Tailgating out here.
See-I wasn't joking. Here I sit in the possible strike zone yet again. I guess that's the price we pay for living in such a beautiful place. Our forcast calmly states:
Thursday Night
Hurricane conditions possible.
Praying that it stays out at sea and no one is hit.
Is there anything else going on in September!?!?! (or the fall for that matter) My time is filled with Jr. High, High School, College and Pro Football! LOL
But I like the apples, sunflower and all the other ideas presented to you. Not everyone loves football....LOL
