Default what do you regret buying?

I saw a new thread, where a new stamper is trying to whittle down her wish list. Fun thread! I was thinking about all the stuff I bought when I started out stamping; lots of things I didn't need, nor do I use now.

My ATG gun comes to mind....probably great for scrapbookers...but not for me, when it comes to cards. I'll have to sell it. I also regret buying the nesties and half my cuttlebug folders! Yes! It's true. I like the look of them...but I just don't use them enough to warrant the money I spent on them. (maybe it has to do with the fact, I use my cuttlebug on the floor due to a poor work space....oww...my back)

What do you have buyers remorse over??

I'll buy your ATG. PM me.

What do I regret? Tons of embellishments, my light box, manual eyelet setter. Not much else I can think of at the moment.

not too much, really. I have been sitting here thinking about it and other than a few not used stamps from ebay, I think I am fairly restrained in my buying and use (need;)) all I buy. We all have embellishments around from past purchases, but I wouldn't consider them a cause for remorse.

I am not an impulse buyer and have to think long and hard before I decide on something of any value. Then I usually decide other things are more important and don't buy it after all.

A lot of my SU! sets.

Don't get me wrong I love them but I don't use them, some have never been inked. I have about 100 sets I need to do something with. UGH. I have learned however, buy sets that you will use over and over and are not a whim.

Default Regrets - I have a few

I bought something that comes in a zipper case, it has different tips on it and runs on batteries. I don't even know where the darn thing went. I used it once. If I ever find it I might play with it again but I would be better off having the money I spent on it. Wire when it was the "in" thing. I hardly used any out of the 8 rolls I have. I have stickers that will probably never use. I have lots of 12 x 12 DP. Everytime one of the DCWV goes on sale I buy one b/c I am a paper freak. I admit it, my name is Marsha and I have a paper addiction. I use it very seldom. I have a set of sparkling h20s that I got talked in to buying from a stamp store lady. She made it look so cool. I have a lot of dauber duos that I keep moving around my area and never use. I have a lot of embroidery thread that I was going to use and hardly ever did, a lot of pearl X that I hardly use any more ... I think everyone will have things they don't use and could sell but it just isn't worth the effort.

I'm a lot more selective in my purchases now, but I definitely bought some dumb sets in my day...just trying to build the "collection."

Same here...I think a lot before I buy...and I won't pay more than I can get back on Ebay, etc, for big purchases like and Nesties, Retired Stamps. I actually don't have anything I truly regret, however there are a few things I have sold that I realized I didn't need.

This is why I am not a demo...if I were, I would be forced to wait until (if) it retires and can sell to get my money back.

I also kind of buy 'as needed'...if I am sitting and scrapping...and a tool is needed I go order it. Rather than buy 'in case'.

My BIA. Just HAD to have it last Christmas, and it's never even been out of the box!!!
I also regret buying eyelets in almost every color. I hardly ever use eyelets anymore.
And I also regret buying the Cricut Expressions and all 20 carts to go with it. $$$$$$ Yikes!!!

I am soooooooooo there too with some SU sets that I bought & have never even cut/mounted!

Prima flowers are also another regret of mine - I never use them & I have several pretty bottles of them.

I have to say the same about my SU! sets. Most of them haven't been touched! Also, I regret buying my Silhouette cutter. Its just too much work learning how to use it--something else barely touched...

Lots of the "funkier" embellishments (stuff like shaped eyelets & brads)
Lots of DP

I used my BIA once in a year, so I finally sold it and then used it to buy stamps.

I have way too much paper...so I try to only buy paper I know I will use and not buy 20 sheets of it just because its cute, lol.

I started out doing scrapbooking, then decided stamps would be a nice addition to scrapbooking and now do a lot of stamping. That said, I work full-time and do very little of each. However, I buy everything I hear somesay is a good tool addition. Also paper addict. One of my biggest regrets though was finally buying the original Sissix machine and about 6 sets of the slzzlets alphabets right before they came out with the Cricut. I now have about 9 cartridges. Plus I have caught the Cuttlebug embossing bug plus much more. Seldom scrapbook, and only make perhaps 15 cards a year.

What I really do is "collect" supplies.

When I started stamping I was so mesmerized by EVERYTHING! I think I was on Ebay several times a day making purchases, and then there was the Stampin Up catalog...don't get me started! I try to be more selective now but I get in "shopping" moods and buy things I don't really need. I often wonder if I got into this hobby because I love buying all the stuff?? Ok, that may not be the case because I love making cards but I buy stuff and then don't use it.

But, to get on topic I think the manual eyelet setter is something I wish I wouldn't have bought. I used it once. I have stamp sets and embossing powders galore that I don't regret buying, but really didn't have to buy at the quantities I did.

Fiskars shape cutter and templates, Fiskers Shape Boss and templates, some stamp sets that just weren't "me," loose glitter (thank heaven for Stickles!), 90% of the EP I've bought, every color of Ancient Page Inks, and a bunch of brass embossing templates.

Almost all of these were purchased more than five years ago. At least I learned a lesson and have become much less impulsive in my buying habits.

I can honestly say that I don't regret any of the SU stuff that I've bought over the years, because it's great quality and I use all of it. What I do regret buying is a lot of the lesser-quality paper, envelopes, stamps, etc. that I bought before finding SU...my DDs are SU converts and even THEY don't want to use the "other" stuff! LOL!

Fiskers Texture plates. I can't get them work in my cuttlebug no matter what the "sandwich" is. Oh well, anyone want them? lol

I love my ATG gun and all I make is cards - It is by far the best investment I have ever made along with my cuttlebug - Regrets would be maybe my cricut and all its cartridges I never use.

I regret buying my light box, Pearl ex, buttons, and some of my SU sets.

I also have too much ribbon, primas, and dp. I am a definite addict when it comes to those.

I regret nothing!

Everything purchased or found becomes part of my stash.

I have such a wide variety of art interests and ideas that I cross-use materials with several mediums.

Nothing I hate more than having an idea and not having the means to create it.

Hmmm.... my rubicoil. I've only used it a few times, although I did use it to bind my thesis all together. I have a "Chisel-It" that I've only used a handful of times... I think it is used to distress buttons but I'm not even really sure anymore. I have a plastic grocery bag full of different colored fibers that can be melted together with a heat gun and stamped on... ugly! I don't know what I was thinking, but was talked into it at a stamping convention. I think I need to think about my purchases a little more!

Reading these threads has brought back some memories!! Yes... there have been embellishments that just weren't "me" and I sent them off to friends. And I had those Fiskar texture plates, too. They were okay with the stylus but were way too much effort for the results ~ the SU brass templates are much better. And now that I have C'bug ~ who needs 'em?! LOL!!

I also just *had* to get certain stamp sets and now I wonder why. I have a box of stamps all ready to trade for stuff in the new catalog!!

The biggest regret for me has to be the little SU tool kit ~ $40, I think? Now that I have Crop-a-dile, it is obsolete for the eyelet setter (and the punch for eyelets didn't work well anyway - it wasn't the same as the one my demo had) and I could have just bought the paper piercing set separately. The tweezers still come in handy I guess and I'll find something to pound on with that little hammer !

I made a decision awhile back to weed out anything I didn't use on a regular basis and love ~ gave some to friends (and a sister who just got into stamping), sold & traded here on SCS, tossed anything that was awful (!)... and now I'm in a good place.

I'll admit I haven't yet experimented enough with the Twinkling H20s, but I know when I'm ready I'll find any info and tips right here on SCS!

Well, I was a scrapper first, so I have a lot of regrets there. I just can't seem to pass up a "bargain" even if it's butt ugly and will never be used. LOL~

In regards to stamping, I have 2 or 3 glittery embossing powders that I just can't get to melt right to save my life. Those I regret.

I also have a jillion of the Studio G acrylic sets that I doubt I will every really use.

Then there are the things that I have that I don't regret per se, but I also don't use enough to justify their purchase, KWIM? A cricut, a cricut expression, a Klik N Kut XL (think $1400!), QK alphas, Sizzlit alphas, etc.

I am also much more of a supply collector than a user. But I scrap/stamp late at night and there is no running to the store to get what I need. If I don't have it in my stash, I can't use it.

I have shown more restraint in my stamp buying and actually have very few but ones I know I will use again and again (other than the Studio G ones, of course).

I regretted my Silhouette (but was able to return it, phew!) and my Bind It All. Used the BIA once or twice, worked well but I guess I wasn't into the whole mini-book thing. I also used it to bind some school projects but I ended up selling on the bay.

I have few regrets but one thing I regret is wasting money on cheap card stock. I have a bunch of it now that I will never use because I found and love SU card stock and I feel guilty recycling the cheap stuff. I also regret my circle scissor. Love the concept, hate that particular tool. I have never cut out a decent circle with it yet.

My marvy giga punches (I only own two) - I purchased the nesties not long after they came out and they are far more used that those punches ever were!

I've got a curvy cutter that I don't use. It just sits in a drawer and annoys me.

I have many stickers I will never use. Little things I thought would be neat embellies when I started out 4 years ago. I wish I had never bought the full size ink pads by the color family because I never use some of the colors.

The MM tag maker seemed like a good idea at the time but I never use it. Once I finally realized that I could let a Mike's coupon go unused I have fewer regrets!!! I agree with the poster who wasn't sure that her cricut was worth all of the investment. I like it but.....

I do LOVE my Watercolor crayons & would buy them again in a heartbeat! The BIA is fun, even if I don't use it often. Primas??? Love them!!! I would take any off of your hands! ;-) ATG is still in the *thinking* about stage. The light box did come in handy when I made my DD wedding invites but I have not used it since. But I love my studio & figure for the most part I've done pretty well with my purchases!

Things I thought were way cool but tried and never really got into:

Rub Ons
Wheels
Chip board
stickers
Hodgepodge.. but only certain bits. LOVED the windows the rest..not so much.
Dry embossing/lightbox. My cuttlebuig has spoiled me forever.

Things I bought and then regretted not going for the gusto from the beginning:

any hole punch/individual hole punchers instead of Crop a Dile

Things I buy then never use:

RIBBON
patterned paper

getting better at this though.

Things I regret not buying SOONER!:

CUTTLEBUG!
Heat gun/embossing powders
Brayer

Things I haven't bought(YET) and wish I had:

Stamp amajig
nestabilities (hoping to make a few not so subtle hints... for pressies)

Things I think are way cool, but don't think I will use enough to justify:

Scor Pal
Prismacolor pencils

I have also found that some stamp sets I buy and then never ever use. not even once just to play.

I will say this.. SCS has inspired me and given me a BUTT TON of new ideas and inspiration and I find myself doing things with what I have that I never knew I could, so for that I am truly grateful to have found this place.

My 1st stamps, SU wasn't over here then and they really were ugly, although they got me into this hobby, so I suppose I should 'thank' them for that.

Pearl-Ex, I hardly use it and have a couple of the Opalite ink pads, so when I want the effect, they work much better.

My little Carl punches, I almost never use them, but my 4yr old DD thinks they're cool, so I punch out little shapes for her artwork.

Metallic Inkabilities things, only used them about twice and can't bring myself to throw them away because I spent so much on them.

Many colours of inkpads, I usually only use black to colour and sometimes one or two others, but have a shelf full of them.

I would love to have a brayer though, but they are expensive over here (about $40). Maybe we should set up a mini online market where we trade each others unwanted stuff (I would love some of your CS or DP that I can't get here in NZ).

The very first stamp/paper I bought. That's what started the slippery slide...

Seriously, I'd say my light box. I've had two - one was non-SU! and I got rid of it. Then I bought the SU! one, hoping I would like it better. Nope. Never use it.

Eyelets in tons of colors and sizes - don't use them!
Some cheap embellishments and cheap inks. Not good quality!
I can't regret buying patterned paper or stamps, though, even if I don't use them, because I am a hoarder!
I have tons of stuff I haven't used yet, though, because I'm a compulsive buyer.

My cricut machine and all those expensive cartridges. I used it when I was teaching school but I haven't touched it in a year.

Eyelets in every color of the rainbow.

I just don't use those things anymore.

Rainbow Ink Pads in bright colors. I used them to brayer over clear embossed images on glossy card stock, but I just don't like that technique anymore. Tastes change, I guess!
