Default Envelopes and Clear Sleeves-- Best sources?

I started to search for this, but realized that products change, new people come on the market, and maybe it'd be good to find out the latest scoop on things. So, would you mind sharing your favorites?

Thus far I've purchased envelopes from Joann's and from Papertrey Ink. I can't tell a difference at all between them. I'd love a slightly thicker paper if I could find it.

I bought a bunch of sleeves through a stamp club I'm in, but I think I'm burning through them faster than the others, so it's probably time to replenish now before I run out. I can't just run down to Michael's and grab something, so I need to be prepared. Yes, everyone in my town is a boy scout. Even the girls. ;)

So, I'm particularly looking for...

1. Clear sleeves to protect completed cards.
2. Cream envelopes (A2)
3. White envelopes (A2)
4. Kraft envelopes (A2) as well.

I'm also looking to know what other sizes there ARE to purchase and how I can read up on other card sizes.

thanks for any help!

I buy my envelopes from ACTION ENVELOPE.
The more you buy the cheaper they are. I buy 1000 envire for about $45 so thats $11.25 per box of 250 envies. Much cheaper than other places.

My clear envies I buy on ebay from uniquepacking - 500 envies for 9.99 plus shipping.
I use so many for my RMH cards that I have to buy from the cheapest place I can find.

uniquepacking has the choice of the seal on the flap or on the envie

I second clear bags. Poor navigation on this site, but really good prices if you look.

I recently purchased clear envelopes from Fine Art World. There service was wonderful and shipping charges were reasonable. In fact, when I placed the order, they called me to make sure I entered the correct item number since the card only would fit in one item # and the card and envelope would fit inside the other.

The economy has changed everything about commerce these days, so who I bought from last month I might not find around next month, but for now, I prefer paper-papers.com. I like the way their site is set up, especially for envelopes, and I like that I can buy as few as 50 but of course save money if I buy more. Usually I buy a box of Neenah brand "250 Classic Linen Text Baronial Ivory Linen Finish Sub.80 ". I stick with Neenah because I've wasted too much money on sub-standard envelopes, over the years. I've shopped with about 12 different vendors but decided to stick with paper-papers.com because the vendors who charge less for the same envelopes make it up by charging more for shipping. In fact shipping charges recently, for ALL supplies, have become ridiculous.....one of my pet peeves.

In general, I've always found buying high quality envelopes from paper suppliers is more economical than buying them from print shops and/or craft stores, local OR on-line. When I say "high-quality", that usually means I'm willing to pay 17-20 cents an envelope PLUS shipping. A good quality envelope spoils you rotten.........sort of like Gina K. Designs Luxury cardstock. How can you ever go back? :-)

Creative Images Stamps(cistamps.com) is my go-to supplier for cello envelopes because they sell so many sizes. I want the cello to be big enough to hold the card and the envelope with enough room to spare in case I've added bulky embellishments. For instance, I buy a lot of A7-XL size because I make so many 5X7 cards, each in its' own cello protector. I make SURE I know EXACTLY the measurements of the cello I'm ordering, and I usually include a note that I expect EXACTLY that size or advice before shipping, so I can cancel if their current measurements aren't the same. I was forced to do that after shopping a variety of vendors and getting way too many shipments of cello sleeves that were just a smidge too narrow or too short of the size they advertised. "Fits an A7 card and envelope" doesn't cut it because the "industry standard" varies quite a bit. It's like when you buy a 2X4 board at the lumber yard, it's actually 1 1/2 X 3 1/2, but they never TELL you that's the case, because it's the "industry standard".

Good luck. I'd say shopping for envelopes and cardstock takes far more time than shopping for any other supply we cardmakers use.

I get both regular and cello envelopes from Paper Zone. They only exist in Washington State and Oregon, but maybe you could find a similar kind of store near you. These are the kinds of things that I like to see in person before I buy them, so I don't order from the net.

I bought 1000 of these cream envelopes:
http://www.clearbags.com/natural-pre...4-x-4-3-8.html

As an additional bonus, they match my cream (Vintage Cream) PaperTrey paper too!!! I totally did not expect that!!

I think if I wanted white envelopes then, I'd buy the white version:
http://www.clearbags.com/white-premi...4-x-4-3-8.html

I found some kraft (brown paper bag) envelopes here:
http://www.clearbags.com/brown-bag-e...4-x-4-3-8.html

Here's all their A2 envelopes:

A card jacket slips on your card like a book cover so you can open the card and see the inside of the card while protecting the outside. you can usually slip an envelope in the jacket as well if you are selling them. I only sell the A2 card jackets because the larger sizes just were not selling.
blessings.

Amber,

Thanks for the card jacket info.

I sent you a private message about your envelopes. Did you get it? If not I can send it again. Let me know.

Thanks,

Chris

I just have to say Amber is FABULOUS to deal with :-)

I had a last minute panic in September last year realising I didnt have any 6x6 sized clear envies for my Founders Circle swaps that I was leaving to attend the following week...she was so very lovely and mailed them out to me super fast and was so very kind to me - she is AWESOME and very highly recommended for your clear envie needs :-)

I have always purchased my natural and white A2 envies from Walmart for around $4 for 50. I went there today to get my usual stash and they have started stocking a 4X6 instead of a 5 3/4 X 4 1/2. I know this doesn't sound like a big difference but when you put the card in the envelope it looks funny.

Thanks for the info, Tina. OMG, I was looking on SCS, read your post, went to eBAY and now it is over an hour later. Now I can't even remember where I was -- sure got side tracked.
