Welcome to Teapot Tuesday Challenge #96
It's no scam, He's still on the lam
Note: Anyone is welcome to play. No need to write a story. Just make a card inspired by the teapot or this week's story. And most of all, have fun.
My Story!
Hi all. Cindy has trusted me with hosting her challenge this week...my she's a brave one....so here we go....whoot whoot...
Here in Sedgwick County we are mighty proud of our zoo which is one of the largest in the nation. It is the top travel destination in the state and is even ranked nationally in several areas such as conservation, and breeding program. So you can imagine what a kerfluffle it caused when 2 of our prized Greater Flamingos flew the coop....They hadn't had their flight feathers clipped yet so with help from some storm winds, they got airborne and after that little taste of freedom; they were off....
After 2 yrs on the Lam, Gustav was sighted in the gulf coast waters with a new companion believed to have gotten lost in Hurricane Rita and came up from Mexico....Gustav and his new lady friend seem to be happy so the zoo is just keeping tabs on him through local bird watchers but doesn't plan to recapture him....
However Ramon is still on the lam....all attempts to spot him so far have failed...he has been tagged so if spotted we will know if it is our bird...giggle....
Now, I know y'all are thinking I've lost my marbles and maybe I have but that's another story...giggle...here is the proof of what I'm talkin about
The make believe part:
Well, this is becoming quite an embarrassment for poor Sam Sugar. Sam's the apprentice zookeeper in charge of the flamingo exhibit upkeep. All Sam has ever dreamed of was to be a real zookeeper but with this huge blot on his record it isn't likely to happen. See, he is the one who was keeping track of which birds hadn't had their feathers clipped...and now all the other apprentices keep taunting him with, "Ole Sam's big pink bird is still on the Lam" (sung to the tune of "The Wichita Lineman") everywhere he goes...and there he still is; down in the flamingo pond cleaning up after his flock of pink birds...
This is where the teapotter's come in to the picture...Sam's sisters Sukie and Sutie are so worried about their little brother...They so want him to be happy and be a real zookeeper....but they have run out of ideas to help....And when they heard about the teapotters prowess at finding lost creatures and preventing mayhem on the mountains they called me up and begged me to ask y'all to help out....If Ramon is found, we don't need to bring him in....the zoo (and most of all Sam) will be happpy just knowing he's safe...
So bring your bird watching stuff, your flamingo tempting treats, anything you can think of to spot Ramon and reassure poor Sam that Ramon is safe and he can rest easier...and maybe even get moved out of the flamingo pond and become a real zookeeper. Or even a job offer at some zoo that doesn't keep flamingos.....Sam's sisters run a popular little sweet shop appropriately called The Sugar Sisters...and they have promised us all the cupcakes we want from their huge menu of sweets to go with our tea...
Sure hope y'all will join me this week and help me find Ramon.
Happy Tuesday y'all.....hope you have a great day...I'm off to work now but will be back here as soon as I get home to see if anyone has spotted Ramon...
And a huge humongous HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY this week to Kokirose...on the 5th....hope you have a great and fun day
Good morning! How fun to have a tea party with origins in a TRUE news story!!!
And I would never have thought that I would need a pink flamingo. So this is going to make me put on my thinking cap!
I've seen and admired flamingo stamps, but never thought I'd get much use from one. And I struggle with digital images - no laser printer. So I'll get my thinking cap on and come at this from a sideways angle, I think. Fun story - thanks, Sheri.
MMTPT96 Search for Ramon by yo sam at Splitcoaststampers
Happy Birthday Sheri a few days late! Great challenge. I didn't have a flamingo stamp so...I used clip art. My stamp collection is still a might thin but I'm working on it! Just don't tell my DH how much I'm spending! Happy Birthday to Kokirose on the 5th!!!
Just cleaned my glasses and am heading out on the search! hehe Can't wait to see what I come up with. Later dudes. :0)

Bird Spotting
Lots of other birds, but no flamingoes. Well, it would have been a big surprise to see one over here, except in the zoo. Way too cold for such exotic birds . I did find a pink bird, but it sure ain't Ramon.

Thanks for filling in for da Muddermark, Sheri! Love your pretty flamingo teapot. I "shore" hope I can play this evening. We have company arriving for a couple days, so I'm trying to get ready for that, but hope to "beach it" in my stampin' room for a little bit.
Oh my! I just posted this birthday card for my mom's 75th birthday Happy Bird Day Mom! by Clyndago at Splitcoaststampers
...and THEN I read the tea party assignment for the week! Well, this isn't Ramon, but maybe this birdy has heard from another birdy (and so on) of his whereabouts?
Sheri, this is a wonderful story, I mean mission, for us this week. I love the news story too - how cool is that! I can't wait to make this card - you know how much I love flamingos! Do you have a recipe for some type of shrimp soup (I know you have a million recipes) - I heard flamingos adore shrimp!

Great story Sheri; thanks for stepping up. It took me a day to reach all my contacts, but I have found a prime opportunity for Sam, as long as he's willing to work with quadripeds rather than birds. There's an opening at the Giraffe Ranch. Here's the card and story.
I'll be back later to comment
Thanks Sheri for filling in. I think my SCS name should have been "day late lizzie". I start off a day late from the TLC challenge making me consistently late for the tea party. Not much to tell here, as you know, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. Ramon in Lights.
Here's my excuse for coming in late: it was late last night when I finished my card to help Ramon and then, BAM! we had a power outage. Same thing this morning; power came back sometime during the night and wouldn't you know it, as soon as I stepped into the shower this morning, WHAM! power went off again so no computer. Thankfully, power is back, sun is shinning, and the hunt for Ramon is on.
Here is one of the reason's Ramon is on the lam; her name if Fanny and she lives on Flamingo Road. ;)
Wow! Am I late to the teaparty! What a fun story and an awesome little teapot Sheri! Who'd a thunk, a flamingo couple! Thanks so much for subbing for me this week and for sharing this fun story and teapot. Your card is precious...such a wonderful scene with the lapping waves in the background! Woot! You did good girlfriend!
AND NOW A TEAPOT TUESDAY BIRTHDAY TOAST
TO THIS WEEK'S BIRTHDAY GIRLS
(KEEP THOSE PINKY'S UP GIRLS!)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Kokirose 6/5
My bad! I am so late in getting here to post this birthday toast to our birthday girl Patricia! (kokirose) My apologies for not getting here sooner! Only one birthday girl this week!
Your birthday is just around the corner Pat! Hope its happy and wonderful, just like you! Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday Dear Pat....Happy Birthday to you!
well it looks as if Ramon (or maybe it was Sam-) stole all the ink from my printer thus preventing me from joining in on the hunt for that elusive flamingo or from joining in on the next few challenges. I do hope someone catches him soon and when you do please send home the ink, you can do whatever you like with the bird!!!
