Default PTI "Perfect" Match Ribbon

Does anyone else have any issues with PTI's perfect match ribbon not being such a perfect match to the cardstock? I must admit that usually the colors are spot on, but I have a few that just don't work for me:

Pure Poppy Saddle Stitch--way too bright to go with the cardstock
Hawaiian Shores Grosgrain--too greeny? Dark? Something? (the worst offender in my opinion)
Spring Moss Grosgrain-I wouldn't not use it with the cardstock, but it is a shade darker.

I've also heard some bad things about some of the Ocean Tides ribbon, but I can't remember which one. Since it's one of my favorite PTI colors, I'd love to know which ribbons match the best.

Does anyone have any other ribbon sources that are a perfect match for some PTI colors? I did find out yesterday that American Craft Glacier embossing powder is a spot-on match to Hawaiian Breeze!

Yes, I've noticed this with Spring Moss. I didn't actually compare the Pure Poppy straight-on and don't have the Hawaiian Shores. I think Nichole mentioned on her blog a while back that the ribbons are meant to coordinate with the cardstock and ink, not be an exact match.

That said, I think if that's the case then those ribbons that aren't going to match exactly should be one shade off so that they coordinate better. Using ribbon that's "close" but just far enough off the color of the CS and ink kind of bothers me. Then again I'm a perfectionist and look for those things.

I've slowly been matching up some of the May Arts silk ribbons to PTI colors. Kate has a great selection here:

And it's cheap enough where one yard isn't going to break the bank if it isn't a spot-on match. Hope that helps some!

I agree; I'd rather it be a shade off rather than "almost" matching. Thanks for sharing that website--I think I found my new website addiction for the week! So many yummy ribbons!

I love the Spring Moss grosgrain, I think it's even more beautiful than the cardstock. I might have gotten a good batch though.
I have purchase lots of ribbon from different sources that are perfect matches to PTI's colors, but unfortunately I don't keep track of where I bought it from, or what color it is. But, if you browse some of the ribbon sites and see a possible match to a PTI color ask for a small sample to confirm it before you buy a larger amount. Sometimes they sell a swatch board, so you can see all the colors they sell.
BTW, there was a lady who worked for a ribbon co. posting here not too long ago asking what we as stampers would like to see in ribbon, and a lot of people replied PTI colors. So you may be in luck!
