Default Dried out Copic Markers

A friend of mine has Ciao markers and 4 of her pink markers are dried out. She has only had them for about 2 months. I saw on the Copic website, the markers are guaranteed to not dry out for 3 years (it says it for all the markers), so should she go to them first instead of where she got the markers? (She got them as part of a set from The Angel Company)

Thanks.

Trish

Is it possible that all the ink has been sucked up to one end, leaving the other dry? I think I've heard to take both caps off to let the barrel "do its thing" to equalize the ink. Beyond that, lol, I know nothing...

Hi Trish ....the 3 year guarantee is for shelf life....They are guaranteed for 3 years as new unopened markers. Once you have used them it depends on how much you color with how long they will last before needing a refill. Ciaos are the first ones that need refilling as they are the smallest (and least expensive) they hold between 1-2cc's of ink.
You should also make sure you are hearing a good "click" when you place your lid on...this is making sure your seal is airtight as the markers are alcohol based and would evaporate otherwise...
Sounds like you may need a refill....especially if you use pink a lot

I have a couple of colors that needed a refill after a few months....so if she uses them a lot, I wouldn't be surprised. You should be able to reink them. You can also replace the nibs.

I had the same thing happen with several Sketch Copics I bought from a store. I emailed COPIC several times asking a question and NEVER received a reply back. I did try a few different email addresses that were given to me.

I Now use the TRIART markers as they are much cheaper.
