Someone snuck into my house and flipped the calendar to May without consulting me first! Can you believe we are in May already?! If the weather would catch up to the date on the calendar, I might not have such a tough time believing.
~ Vellum Emboss ~
Well, I went back through all the Technique challenges and I was really surprised that this one was never done. We’ve done embossing and debossing and all sorts of versions thereof, but never vellum embossing. I am leaving this open to either dry embossing or heat embossing…..whatever suits you!
~~ I am adding a BONUS (ah, you know, a pat on the back) if you make your card a Mother’s Day card!
As of the last time I checked, there was still a problem with uploads showing just the gray bar or a red X. Never fear, they are working on fixing the problem. Your uploads can still be seen if the gray bar is clicked. Please do not let it stop you from uploading!
Also, just a reminder that you need to name your picture a unique name ON YOUR COMPUTER, or it will be deleted when the system (SCS) cycles.
I never knew you could put vellum in embossing folders - I thought it would rip! THanks for the fun challenge Holly - nice to have something to look forward to later (and thanks for posting early!)

I'm sure some of you know about Jeri and her unbelievable blog but just in case you don't here is a link to see her pergamano and just take some time and scroll thru her blog. It's just not fair that any one person is this talented. LOL
Oh your sample is BEAUTIFUL!! I love the layered frames and the way the vellum softens the design on the paper!
I had problems with my CB folders tearing some of my paper, so I went to the hardware store and bought a few extra plumbers gaskets. What I do is, instead of using both my B plates in my 'Bug, I use one B plate and two plumbers gaskets. That way there's not as much presure when it runs through my 'Bug and it's a softer emboss. Hope that helps!

Great challenge, Holly! I forget about using vellum and it does give such a unique look. I chose to use dry embossing with one of my PTi embossing plates. They give a much subtler look than my CB ones.
Great challenge, I love the look of embossing on velum - so soft. I was just reading that we've been asked not to upload any more cards until the red x, or in my case blue ? is resolved. Oh well that gives me some time to play. I'm going to try again Holly to link my card to this thread, I think I have it figured out!
The SCS staff is asking us NOT TO UPLOAD any photos to the gallery while they are trying to get the issues with the gray bar/red X's fixed. You can read the notice on the homepage here:
Sorry, I didn't see your notice, Holly. I can't even load the home page. It is taking 3-5 minutes for a page to load. Don't know if it is just me.....or a site-wide problem. Maybe they should just close the site temporarily and put up an "Under construction" notice! : )
It's ok, girls. I think they should just disable the upload function for now, but I don't really know what that would entail. In the meantime, some of the cards are showing up in the gallery, while others are not.
Be patient. I am pretty sure the site wonkiness is due to them trying to fix the gallery issues.
It'll be great when they get this site back to working properly, won't it?

WOW she really makes awesome stuff. Thanks for sharing the link
Wonderful challenge, Holly! I love vellum! Here's my Graduate Butterflies. Thanks so much for looking and I'll return after dinner to view and comment.
I'm not sure how this card wound up in the gallery entitled Minis and Previews though. I can't seem to find the gallery called "My Gallery" in the upload process. Any ideas? I'll keep looking.

Oops! Now I saw the request not to upload anything while they try to straighten out the gallery problem. Sorry about that!
Oh, this has to be one of my favorite challenges. I hope I find time to make a card this week to join in the fun. If not, I'll get around to it sooner or later. I really, really enjoyed looking at all the cards you all have been making. They are soooo beautiful and are giving me so much inspiration and so many great ideas. I have made a note to consider the whole embossed vellum gallery a "favorite!"
