My new upload tonight was approved and move to another category and now it shows a red X and the picture of the card is gone. I noticed this is happening to quite a few cards tonight.
I am having the same issue with my photo uploads. Also, I am having the same issue with my profile picture. I have logged out and cleared cache & cookies multiple times.
I'll try to answer Holly's question first. My use of the words "you" and "your" are in the general sense; I'm not specifically picking on Holly.
If your upload is approved, and then needs to be moved to a more appropriate gallery category, the photo will revert to the red x in the box while the gallery software catches up with the editing. The red x generally doesn't stick around more than 5 or 10 minutes before switching back to your uploaded photo.
The best way to prevent this is to choose the most appropriate gallery category when you're uploading your creation, rather than simply uploading to your "member gallery". On the upload screen there's a drop-down menu labelled Choose a category to upload your images to. Pick a category that relates most to your image(s). Look through the choices there for the best category for your upload. There are choices for Stampin' Up stamp sets, different techniques, lots of "anything but a card" items, swaps, and scrapbooking.
EVERYTHING you upload will show up in your member gallery regardless of what category it's uploaded to. The categories are simply a huge organizational tool in letting others find your creations. For example, if you create a card using the SU stamp set "Fox & Friends" and upload it to the Fox & Friends category, then whenever someone wants to browse through the Fox & Friends category they'll see your card. If you upload simply to your member gallery, it will not show up in the stamp set category.
I hope this helps explain the reasons for the gallery categories and how they are there to help organize the gallery.
If you're getting a red x right when you upload something, it's probably because the file size is too large. In another thread in the Site Suggestions forum, Lydia has suggested reducing the total file size to less than 500 kb, and making sure the photo is no larger than 500 pixels wide or high.
Hope this helps the other issues some of y'all are having.
I'm getting the "moved to another category message" even though the category it was "moved" to was the same category that I uploaded it to. And it's been way more than 5 or 10 minutes and the X is still there.
How do I change the size of my upload anyway?

A good portion of the gallery this morning has this Ella_Jane_photo_cropped_Joe_Birthday_Card_by_Ella_ Jane.jpg instead of a thumbnail. Why is that? And I really do wish there would be a limit as to how many characters can be in a card title. I just refuse to scroll back and forth.

Yes we definitely have a problem. I emailed support.
Good to know... I have "rebuilt" my thumbnail and re-uploaded my photo several times to no avail so I'm hoping it can be fixed. Glad to know it's not my system. Thanks for letting us know.

This is probably related, but has anyone else noticed that when your click on a picture from the main gallery page (yes, I can still see pics here), that the picture you see is now a page and half wide? Like mine Here.
I have been seeing those red x's in the gallery for about 2 weeks. But it is getting to be more and more prevalent. I should have said something earlier! I just started getting tired of it and came to see what was going on...but no one else mentioned it until today!
I'll keep checking for news.
I'm only having it today, how frustrating for you if it's been going on for a while now. It certainly makes gallery viewing a longer process.
I'm seeing the same thing when I go to the second page of comments on cards...

I got a message from Beate that they know about it and are working on it. Do you think it's a good idea to post, or to wait until it's fixed???
You can upload, but if the image comes into moderation with a broken thumbnail, it will not be approved for the gallery until the image is fixed by tech support.
I haven't had the problem as yet, just started this morning. The wider uploads only appear occasionally. It seems that happens when the system has to fill in the page as it always happens in "my gallery" when I haven't got a full page of uploads. Anyway thanks Lydia for being on top of it.

Whew! I thought it was just me too! I just uploaded 5 cards and all I can see is the dreaded red X. Great to know that you are aware of the problem and are working on it!

I'm having the same issue, too. I think it has to do with the fact that instead of a red X, Firefox has the file name listed, so where it normally has the 5 photos at the bottom of the description, it is listing out 5 long file names. I attached a screenshot.
