Hello to all, I apologize in advance if this is not the thread to post this question. However, I am curious if anyone else is having the same problem as I am with youtube. Every time I go into to someone's blog and they have a video tutorial and I click to watch, it plays for a few seconds and then freezes for what seems to be an eternity. It then plays again for a few seconds more and freezes again.:???: Does anyone have any idea why this could be happening? I am not that savy with computers and I am not sure if maybe the problem is my own pc. :( I would appreciate any feedback and once again I apologize if this is not the proper place for this question.
Mine does it too; drives me nuts! Half the time, I don't even bother trying to watch videos. I haven't tried waiting to let it download...that might well work!
Yes, the video has to "buffer" - meaning it has to load the whole video before it will play without interruption. The speed of your internet connection determines how fast it will completely buffer and play your video.
If you hit pause when you first load the video, you will see the little red line progress across the play bar. When that line gets to the end of the bar, if you hit play, it will play smoothly.

We had been having the same problem for several months and it got so bad, it was like having a land line again. So hubby called our service provider and they did a test & said we weren't we weren't getting the speed we were paying for. So they did some resetting and low & behold we have high speed again and the videos work fabulously. It wasn't our computers at all - both are fairly new (mine only a few months old).
Yep it happens all the time. I always wait till it downloads then it plays great. I love YouTube. I am usually checking out this forum in between times waiting for my crafting videos to download. Then I can do both at the same time, while DS naps in the early afternoon.
So here's my take on this. If I am going through AOL, my computer does the same thing. If I jump out to Explorer, I don't have a single problem. I am convinced it is AOL that has the problem...not my computer. Also, when on AOL, I can wait forever for it to load and it still blips in and oput every couple of seconds!!!!!

Hello, my thanks to all of you who provided much needed help. I am going to try waiting until it completely loads and see if that works for me. Have a wonderful weekend.
I only use Explorer for my Internet but I also have the lowest speed DSL that is offered due to living in Rural America in a Village of less then 600 people. I am one of the lucky ones, I also live on the only street that offers DSL- because 85% of the village businesses are on my street just several blocks down. My friends are so envious because I have DSL and they don't yet, but rumor is in the next 18 months everyone within village limits should have access to DSL.
I always check out the forum here and gallery in between checking out videos on YouTube- it saves precious time since my play time is only about 21/2 hours while DS naps.
I use Firefox exclusively, and have never had a problem. I'm thinking of checking out Google Chrome - it's supposedly faster than Firefox, but for now I'm good with my browser and internet speed.

Yup! Good ol' dial-up! If I REALLY want to see the video and it is about 3 min long, I can count on about one hour download time, I start it and go for a walk, clean the house, weed the garden or something, then come back and I then I watch it as least 2x since it took so long to download. This leads to be being very picky about which videos I choose to watch. But I wouldn't trade the country life for the city!
One way to at least cope with the delayed buffering is to pause the video and allow the download to get ahead of the video play. Check your email for a couple of minutes or other distraction and come back to the video and hit play. This will have given the video a chance to download and will play w/o interruption at that point.
