CAS62 - Mackinac Island, Michigan Postcards {4/12/10}
What is CAS?
CAS is an acronym for Clean and Simple.
There are different ways people view CAS. It is very subjective. There is no list of rules that will fit everyones personal definition. The following are possible guidelines, only. Please do not feel afraid of playing in the CAS challenge or debate with yourself if youve created a CAS card. If it is a CAS card to you, put CAS in the keyword box.
1. Clean: the design is uncluttered with lots of white or open space. Simple: having a clear focal point without a lot going on to detract from it.
OR
2. simple in design regardless of the number of embellishments or how long it takes to color, stitch or to use a special technique
OR
3. can be copied and mass produced fairly quickly usually without a lot of coloring, layers, embellishments, tools and/or techniques
OR
4. any combination of the above
************************************************** *******
We are having an Inspiration challenge this week: Mackinac (Mackinaw) Island, Michigan Postcards My home state & favorite place to vacation! Home of the Grand Hotel - set for the movie "Somewhere in Time" starring Christopher Reeves
Uploading: Remember the keyword is without spaces. Use a comma between keywords with a space after each comma.
If you are new to the challenges, please feel free to do this one or ANY of the challenges at any time. There is no time limit. They are not races to see who can do one first, nor are they contests of any sort. All the challenges are simply to provide inspiration and to get us stamping!

Oooo! I can't wait to play. We used to go there every year. I always tell my kids about riding bikes all the way around the island, and now they want to do it, too. I think I'll have to make a card with a bike on it!
Lovely choice, Jen, for a challenge. I was there last August and LOVED the place. I admired the architecutre, lack of cars....... altho' all the horses add their own "aroma" to the place! ; ), and FLOWERS everywhere. I had a lovely time there.
Wow! I am a Michigander too! I grew up going to Mackinac Island..hoping to take my kids there this summer. Great challange..hope I can find time to play.

I did another card for the challenge today, Jen. I LOVE Mackinac Island and that whole northern area of the Lower Peninsula. We are fortunate to get to go there every summer.
I enjoyed my virtual travel to Mackinac Isle! I kept going back to the scene where a bicycle leaned up against a shop window. Here's my interpretation of that scene.
I'm a Michigander, too! We've made quite a few trips to the island, and it is beautiful! But I told my dh that the next trip we take, I want to stay at the Grand Hotel! (haven't been back since! ha ha!). My niece was married on the island, with horse drawn carriages and all. Good memories! Here's my card:
Here's my first submission - so exciting and scary!!! I'm on a big brayering kick after taking Michelle Zindorf's class and those postcards were filled with inspirations!
