So many new "little girl" stamps??why?
I know I am going to get slammed for saying this, but is it just me or does anyone else feel weird sending adults, cards with pictures of little girls "stamps". It seems it is blooming with new sets featuring young girly stamps, they are so sweet looking, I truly agree, but it feels funny to me to send a grown woman a card featuring a 5 yr old ! I know it is the new trend, but I do not love them. The cards made are beautiful, do not get me wrong, I guess I prefer more age related stamps, i.e., ladies dining, shopping, shoes, coffee, wine, for an adult card.
Just wondering......

I feel sort of the same. I guess it depends on who I am send the card to. I do have a young daughter, but the little girl type stamps would not fit thier personalities either most of the time for a birthday card. They are too "girly" for them. They are cute imo, I just never get them, because I know I will never use them for anything. The designers are wonderful.

Exactly, my daughter wants peace signs and groovy things, music, things that are current. If I made b-day cards for her friends with the "little girl" stamps she would cringe.
Thanks for confirming I was not crazy.

You are not alone. Not my thing either. They don't appeal to me personally, and I don't think they would appeal to the people I send cards to.
That said, I do have a few Elzybell stamps that I use, but they seem a slightly different genre to me.

I love the little-girl stamps, HOWEVER, 40% of the cards I make DO go to a three-year-old girl!! (she's my niece) Dunno what I'm gonna do when she gets older!!! (will probably keep using the little-girl images and make HER cringe)
Yesterday however, I DID make cards for two adult women using little-girl images - a Mother's Day card for my mom and a birthday card for a friend.
ETA: Oooh! I also love receiving cards with little-girl images and I'm an adult (biologically anyway <grin> )
Oooh, also I'm planning to make a Mother's Day card for my sister, also using a little-girl stamp.

I had a similar thread last week about the digi stamps. A lot of what's new seems to be cartoonish and cutesy. I don't mind a more "modern" look to the stamps, but enough with the gigantic heads alredy!

I'm so glad someone said something! These types of images don't appeal to me at all - I figured there were just alot of stampers out there that had small children and this filled a need. It never occured to me to send a card with such an image to an adult - but thats just me!!!!

Another vote with you, Jill. Not to take anything away from anyone, it's just a matter of personal taste, there's no "wrong" or "right", just wrong or right for a specific individual. Cutsey just isn't my style, which is not to say my style is "better"...just different. Long live diversity!

I really love the Daisy little girl stamps...she is so beautiful. I am not good at the coloring and some of the little girl cards I see are just stunning...some of you ladies are just so talented. Maybe someday I will purchase a Daisy and get to try to color it but I have a feeling it will be woefully bad...lol

I was thinking the extact same thing. There have been alot of "little girl" images lately. Yes, they are cute. Yes, I have used them to make cards for adults but I am getting a little bored of the "cutesy" look. I feel the need for more "adult" characters. Stamping Bella just posted a thread on here stating that she is doing a release of new stamps next Friday and there will be some new Bella stamps. They seem to fill the age gap for me.

I send my family cards with Anya on them (The Greeting Farm). They love them. They all say "We Love the Big Headed Kids" they are so cute. They like my cards better than when I was an SU demo and used to send age appropriate ones. So some people over 55 do not mind the little girls cards..they actually like them. then again my family is a bit ecentric...lol!

a lot of my friends and family (of all ages) LOVE the Greeting Farm cards that I make for them. They have many different characters and personalities so they fit a wide range of ages, in my opinion. I think they're adorable, one of my favorite stamp companies right now. But I know that everyone has a different stamp style that appeals to them and that is what makes this community of stampers so much fun! I love seeing everyone's different styles expressed in their stamping creations! It's great because there are so many different companies out there, you can pick and choose what fits with your style. sorry to ramble, just thought I'd share my opinion. I've noticed that too, and most are not my style, but that's ok.
I do like Mo's Digital Pencil. She has a nice selection of boys, girls, men, and women, even done in different enthicities. Most of her images look "real" to me, and her talent is amazing.

I'm with everyone who says it's a matter of taste, but just not mine.
When the WT challenge last week was to use a *Sweet Child* stamp, I had all of two - one digi, and the little girl from Window Dressing. But then, I guess there are people who would wonder at sending the cute Penny Black critters to adults too...but I love them, so I use them.

Use what you like! Plenty of everything to go around. Something I've seen though that made me cringe...and I forget where I saw it...but a line of little girl looking stamps where one of them appeared to be pregnant. Gah.

<huge grin> I draw mouths on the no-mouth children. My husband thinks they look a little creepy and a bit maniacal even with the mouths. <grin> But that means I don't have to make him a copy if I'm going to be using one of those stamps to make a card. Heh heh heh. |

I have a few of the Leann Ellis stamps from Sugar Nellie and would like a few of the Pure Innocence little girl stamps and some Mo's Digital Pencil images. I personally don't think it's weird to send an adult a card with a little girl on it. I know more women who were once little girls than who are currently skinny fashionistas like Bella!
BTW, I don't have kids so it's not like I'm buying them because I'm a mom! (I also buy penguin stamps even though I'm not a polar explorer...shh, don't tell anyone!)

Isn't it nice that there are images for everybody's taste? I like a lot of the little girl stamps - I think they're cute. I don't have a ton, but I have bought a few - I've currently 4 nieces under the age of 4, so they do get used!

I agree, it often seems that people either like them or don't....I like them. Guess it makes me think of simple and cute. But yes, I do know of people who really don't like them and people who think the images are a little weird. So on the blog, I do a little bit of everything. Still love the magnolias though.

Ha ha!! You know the card I mentioned in an earlier post (post #7) that I made for a friend (an adult)? I showed it to my husband and he actually begged me to make her ANOTHER card, because the little girl seemed a little "inappropriate" - this is the husband who adores all the cards I make and wants to keep every one for himself! <grin> He REALLY does not like the little girl images! I did make a different card for the friend, since she is a mutual friend of ours and I did not want him cringing while she opens it.

We could say this about any type of image really. Everyone has different tastes and no one is forcing anyone to use a certain type of stamps.

It is yet another trend... and I'm with you, I don't care for them either! I was cruising the gallery the other day and it seemed that's all there was on a page of thumbnails.
They actually turn me off and I fled from the gallery.

I have seen some beautiful cards made with those big headed kids, but they just aren't for me. I have even told my husband that I wished I liked them because they look like they're fun to color. He told me he thinks they're creepy and doesn't want me to use them. He especially dislikes the Magnolia kids becasue they have no mouths. It got me to thinking about some of the cute things I do like such as House Mouse & Riley. That's about it. Every once in a while. I'm drawn to a penny black hedge hog, but only own one. When I got married, I received several Precious Moments gifts. They remind me of this trend. My SIL even had a Precious Moments cake topper. So, I can see where this look is coming from & apreciate those who love it, but it just isn't for me. I'll take my rocker grunge any day. JIL

I love the variety and diversity. I like to own a little of everything. But I won't be sending my grandma cute lil girlie ones. I do own a few sugar nellies u know the dot eyes and no mouths, and my 11 yr old daughter says they creep her out and those just aren't right mom . (in her own words)
Oh yea, forgot to add when my step mom saw my collection of mouthless sugar nellies, she said the creator must beleive in the age old saying "children are meant to be seeing and not heard" LOL

Well, my answer to the question in this thread's title is simple-- Because I (as well as many, many other stampers) LOVE little girl stamps. That's why they keep producing them.
Why do I love them? It's a nostalgia thing. The images bring back to me many, many sweet memories of my own childhood. Memories of my own children who have grown up too fast. I can't tell you how many times I've gotten a stamp of a little boy or girl that reminded me of my own kids when they were little.
Many adults collect and buy Hello Kitty, or Precious Moments, Disney, the list goes on. The images are sweet and beautiful and I don't see anything unusual about it at all.
There are many types of images that I don't like, but I don't question why people are attracted to them. To each their own, and that's what makes us different from each other. |

One explanation (not MINE!!!) for the mouthless Magnolias is that they are angels, and angels speak with their hearts. I still like them better with mouths (angels can have mouths and STILL speak with their hearts) and always draw them on my own mouthless Magnolia children (and so can anyone - see my link).

I don't care for the magnolia ones, but I love the little girls. I also like the "teen" and grown women! I like them all and I think they are appropriate for different people. My older sister loves precious moments and the little girl cards, my 12 yo niece likes the groovy teen girls and my other sister likes the adult women... that's why they have so many different designs. I personally detest the sock monkey and the changa (?) monkey that is hugely popular... and don't care much for Riley either... but I LOVE the hedge hog! |

Wonder where they got that from. Angels spoke all the time in the Bible!
I do think Magnolias are cute tho. At least they are done artisticly. |
