Default Song lyrics on scrapbook page

I have some really great pictures of my kids I want to scrapbook. I'm looking for a poem or song lyrics that tell the story of a mother's love. I don't really listen to the radio much, so I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction. Thanks so much!!

I think this is a very cool idea. sometimes a song says it better. One of my fav's is "My Wish" by Rascall Flatts.

Default one of my faves...

Hey ladies!

I LOVE " My Wish" too for my girls...another one that I have used as they are now "older" (23 and 14) is Natasha Bedingfield's "Unwritten"...it could be used on pages for any age...even a "me" book you do for yourself and your kids when you want to hand them down....

Unwritten-Natasha Bedingfield

"Unwritten"

I am unwritten, can't read my mind, I'm undefined
I'm just beginning, the pen's in my hand, ending unplanned

Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find

Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten

Oh, oh, oh

I break tradition, sometimes my tries, are outside the lines
We've been conditioned to not make mistakes, but I can't live that way

Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find

Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins

Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten

Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find

Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins

Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten
The rest is still unwritten
The rest is still unwritten

Oh, yeah, yeah

Default ...another good one! :)

Another GREAT one (esp for a Mother's Love) is Leann Womack's "I Hope You Dance"

I Hope You Dance-LeAnn Womack

I hope you never lose your sense of wonder
You get your fill to eat
But always keep that hunger
May you never take one single breath for granted
God forbid love ever leave you empty handed
I hope you still feel small
When you stand by the ocean
Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens
Promise me you'll give faith a fighting chance

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance
I hope you dance

I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance
Never settle for the path of least resistance
Living might mean taking chances
But they're worth taking
Lovin' might be a mistake
But it's worth making
Don't let some hell bent heart
Leave you bitter
When you come close to selling out
Reconsider
Give the heavens above
More than just a passing glance

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance
(Time is a real and constant motion always)
I hope you dance
(Rolling us along)
I hope you dance
(Tell me who)
I hope you dance
(Wants to look back on their youth and wonder)
(Where those years have gone)

I hope you still feel small
When you stand by the ocean
Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens
Promise me you'll give faith a fighting chance

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
Dance
I hope you dance
I hope you dance
(Time is a real and constant motion always)
I hope you dance
(Rolling us along)
I hope you dance
(Tell me who)
(Wants to look back on their youth and wonder)
I hope you dance
(Where those years have gone)

(Tell me who)
I hope you dance
(Wants to look back on their youth and wonder)
(Where those years have gone)

hi! i'm new to this forum but i saw this post and had to check it out b/c i LOVE scrapping w/ song lyrics!! i don't know if you are opposed to Christian songs but there's one by Mark Harris called Find Your Wings that makes me cry every time i hear it! here are the lyrics:

It's only for a moment you are mine to hold
The plans that Heaven has for you
Will all too soon unfold

So many different prayers I'll pray
For all that you might do
But most of all I'll want to know
You're walking in the truth
And if I never told you, I want you to know
That as I watch you grow

I pray that God would fill your heart with dreams
And that faith gives you the courage
To dare to do great things

I'm here for you whatever this life brings
So let my love give you roots
And help you find your wings.

May passion be the wind
That leads you through your days
And may conviction keep you strong
Guide you on your way

May there be many moments
That make your life so sweet
Oh, but more than memories

Chorus

It's not living if you don't reach for the sky
I'll have tears as you take off
But I'll cheer as you fly

Chorus

there's also one by celine dion, more about a baby, but awesome too!

You're my life's one miracle
Everything I've done that's good
And you break my heart with tenderness
And I confess it's true
I never knew a love like this 'til you

You're the reason I was born
Now I finally know for sure
And I'm overwhelmed with happiness
So blessed to hold you close
The one that I love most
Though the future has so much for you in store
Who could ever love you more

The nearest thing to heaven
You're my angel from above
Only God creates such perfect love

When you smile AT me I cry
And to save your life I'd die
With a romance that is pure in heart
You are my dearest part
Whatever it requires
I live for your desires
Forget my own, your needs will come before
Who could ever love you more

There is nothing you could ever do
To make me stop loving you
And every breath I take
Is always for your sake
You sleep inside my dreams
And know for sure
Who could ever love you more

Default Songs...

I know I am speaking for everyone here (and I am sure they will let you know if you do offend them)...but I think it would take A LOT more than Christian lyrics to offend someone. Now if you post the "non-clean" versions of some songs instead of the "clean" or "radio edits"...then I think one might have to be concerned with offending someone...but I think it was sweet and considerate of you to be concerned about that. I think if the whole world would think about how and what they say would affect others, the world would be a much better place!

I am new to this board, and was glad to find this topic because I, too, am always looking for poems or lyrics that help express how I feel about my children.

I always loved Bob Dylan's "Forever Young" as recorded by Joan Baez. After I had my children, it took on new meaning. Each of them has a beautiful photo in their album and the lyrics:

May God bless and keep you always. May your wishes all come true.
May you always do for others and let others do for you.
May you build a ladder to the stars and climb on every rung.
May you stay forever young.
Forever young, forever young,
May you stay forever young.

May you grow up to be righteous. May you grow up to be true.
May you always know the truth and see the light surrounding you.
May you always be courageous, stand upright and be strong.
May you stay forever young.
Forever young, forever young,
May you stay forever young.

May your hands always be busy. May your feet always be swift.
May you have a strong foundation when the winds of changes shift.
May your heart always be joyful. May your song always be sung.
May you stay forever young.
Forever young, forever young,
May you stay forever young.

2 in a million by Chris Ledoux ---this was my wedding song

In a world of losers, filled with wrong turns
Where so many bridges seemed destined to burn
The odds are so great, the chances so slim
To find the right her for just the right him

CHORUS
We're two in a million, exceptions to the rule
I followed my heart and love led me to you
It's a gamble at best, so easy to loose
But the first time we kissed we both knew
We're two in a million, two who found one love that's true

What some call love, can be lost overnight
You find there's a tunnel at the end of the light
But here in your arms, the only surprise
Is the way love keeps growing as time passes by

CHORUS

We're two in a million, two who found one love that's true
We're two in a million, two who found one love that's true

Default Daughter by Loudon Wainwright III

I actually love the song "Daughter" from Loudon Wainwright III. I heard it in the movie Knocked Up. This is great if you have a daughter layout...I used it to make a movie for the grandma's last year and there was not a dry eye between the both of them...we still cry when we hear the song.

Everything she sees
she says she wants.
Everything she wants
I see she gets.

That's my daughter in the water
everything she owns I bought her
Everything she owns.
That's my daughter in the water,
everything she knows I taught her.
Everything she knows.

Everything I say
she takes to heart.
Everything she takes
she takes apart.

That's my daughter in the water
every time she fell I caught her.
Every time she fell.
That's my daughter in the water,
I lost every time I fought her.
I lost every time.

Every time she blinks
she strikes somebody blind.
Everything she thinks
blows her tiny mind.
That's my daughter in the water,
who'd have ever thought her?
Who'd have ever thought?
That's my daughter in the water,
I lost everytime I fought her

Default Song suggestion

I am the mother of a special needs young woman. She entered special ed programs at the age of 3, and when she graduated from her pre-school, they played "Wind Beneath My Wings" by Bette Midler as a tribute to the parents of these special children. It made me cry on that day some 23 years ago, and to this day that song touchs my heart in a way no other one can. I hope you find the song you are looking for, and perhaps this is the one.

I love the song "I Saw Her First" by Heartland. It is a great song about a dad who tells the man his daughter is about to marry to remember his daughter will always be his little girl. I danced to this song with my dad at my wedding and had a hard time not crying. Will definately be using the lyrics on that scrap page in my wedding album.

I love using songs too!

I'm making a mini for my brother's 65th birthday...going to use "Ten Feet Tall and Bulletproof" in his! It fits his younger years to a "t".

Emilymom---your page is beautiful!!! I ♥ that song too!!

I used I hope you dance as a 'theme' for an album that I did for my son's 21st birthday. I journalled the llyrics throughout the pages. Was a great effect.

Tony was born at 25 1/2 weeks, so it was the 21st birthday we weren't supposed to be celebrating, but against all odds, we did.

So many great songs for girls and young women. My one and only is a son, all grown up, but still my boy! Any suggestions for songs to use when scrapping his childhood? Thanks

I think "I Hope You Dance" is perfect to scrap a little boys pages. The words really speak what a parent hopes for their child.

Song lyrics work great on a scrapbook page... and you would be surprised at some of the ones I have used in the past....

Recently I made a 12 x 12 scrapbook page as a Christmas gift (it was given in a 12 x 12 frame and simply needed the photos added - which I did for the reciever). The theme was baseball. Her daughter is part of a big baseball team in the area (this is another team outside of a school team) and it is a major part of her life....

I used the old baseball song, "Take me out to the Ballgame"..... okay when I figured out I was going to go with a baseball lyric, then the dang song got trapped in my head.... over and over again. It went away after I completed the layout... (was afraid when I did a layout on the New Orleans Saints for another friend that I would never get the song WHEN THE SAINTS GO MARCHING IN out of my head - even though I did not use it on the layout lol).

I have problems coming up with Title Pages sometimes, so for some of my Christmas pages, I just wrote down a bunch of my favorite Christmas Carols and started there. Some of my favorite lines from the songs have been used too, but I only printed the entire song on a "sibling" page when my children were younger..."I'm No Kin To The Monkey", oh they loved singing that song! This can be a great challenge for my big weekend!!

It's only for a moment you are mine to hold
The plans that Heaven has for you
Will all too soon unfold

So many different prayers I'll pray
For all that you might do
But most of all I'll want to know
You're walking in the truth
And if I never told you, I want you to know
That as I watch you grow

I pray that God would fill your heart with dreams
And that faith gives you the courage
To dare to do great things

I'm here for you whatever this life brings
So let my love give you roots
And help you find your wings.

May passion be the wind
That leads you through your days
And may conviction keep you strong
Guide you on your way

May there be many moments
That make your life so sweet
Oh, but more than memories

Chorus

It's not living if you don't reach for the sky
I'll have tears as you take off
But I'll cheer as you fly

Chorus

Lovely lovely lovely! Thank you!

When I heard I Hope You Dance by LeAnn Womack after becoming a parent, I cried and cried and cried ... it really is such a beautiful prayer / wish for your child. Thanks for reminding me! Definitely want to get that onto a page for the two kids somehow.

I love using songs in my scrapbook. I did a scrapbook for my little sister when she graduated from high school and the last page had "I hope you dance" on it. THen when she got married last month I played it for her.

I also like the song "With arms wide open" by Creed. This song was popular when I was pregnant for DS #1 and it was on MTV every night when I would get up to nurse. It is kind of our song.

My daughter did her Senior project "Identity Book" and used song titles for each page. She did an awesome job...it'll be so fun to look back on remembering all of those crazy fun songs!!

Taylor Swift's "Never Grow Up" (at least the first verse and chorus) is great, too.

Another one for girls is Peter Cetera's "Daddy's Girl". I danced with my Dad at my wedding to that one since we remember liking it as a child when Three Men and a Baby came out and it always made me think of him.
