I ordered my coveted ATG #714 (the red one) from Framer Supplies on March 4, 2010. I got a note they received my order, but have not seen anything , including the tape gun, yet.I would call today, but I see they are not open and do not have voice mail. AHHHGH! Thought I would cancel and order from somewhere else, but most are backordered on other sites...not a good sign. I have become obsessive/compulsive about getting this thing. Does anyone know where I can find one? Now?
They are back ordered and due in the end of March (I e-mailed them about it), unless there's another delay. It was originally due in the middle of March.
I got sooo lucky. I went to a crop last weekend. I was talking to my CTMH demo and another lady. The CTMH has a pink 714 and I was saying how I wanted to get the 714 (I currently have the tapedepot generic one).
One at the crop said she was selling her red 714. Nothing was wrong with it, but she saw a purple one at a show and she just had to get the purple one.
So, on Thursday I'm picking up my 714. I'm so happy

I love that story!! Good for you . It is so much fun to find something you have been wanting forever. I think it is all about the hunt now. I am looking everywhere for this item and am going to be really thrilled when I finally get mine. How can a tape gun be this important to me ? Go figure!
Oh I'm sorry to hear that! I got mine at Framing Supplies and I get my refills there too.........I sure hope they get you your gun quick! I'm totally addicted to mine!!!!!
I called them last week about the 714. They said I could either place the order and wait for the back order to come in at the begining of April. Or I could wait until the middle of April and it should be in stock and ready to ship. They said the backorders would take at least a week to fill. I'm holding off for now.
I have the red 714 and am needing some tape refills. Could someone send me a link of the rolls I need to order? I think it was the gold, but can't remember. :} Thanks!
Yes, this backorder is very aggravating. I did get an email from Barb (wonderful customer service lady at 3M) saying:
"...Thank you for contacting 3M. The ATG-714 applicators are on backorder
until the end of March due to a problem with availability of a raw
material. ..."
I had sent off my own ATG gun to get a replacement.
I have been rolling the tape off the actual roll of ATG tape, like it's a wheel. <sigh> Soooo inconvenient!! I want my ATG gun!!!

I can deal with the wait until April since I already placed the order. At least now I know it will be coming; something to look forward to. Thanks for the news!

Did that lady say where to get the purple one?
She only said at a show. I'm thinking at one of the large scrapbooking shows. I'll ask when I see her on Thursday. Once I get mine, I'm going to look into painting it.

I just ordered my ATG 714 online. I called in advanced and asked if they did infact have them on hand, he said he had plenty. Cost is 41.62 with 12.95 shipping. I searched all night trying to get the cheapest deal. If I found cheaper shipping, then the ATG cost more. This was the best price I could find. Total was 54.48 and it does come with one roll of the 908 gold tape.
Ok - I just got my tax refund - and want one of these. But the tape is confusing. What kind to buy? What is gold tape? Where is the best price for refills? Any help would be so appreciated.

I presently have the 'generic' tape from tape depot. I've heard the actual 3M 908 tape is much nicer.
With the ATG 714 that I ordered, it comes with a 908 tape roll. So, I'm going to compare. I still have about 8 rolls of the 'generic' stuff. Hoping there is not much difference.
If the 908 is actually much nicer, I'll order that from Framingsupplies.com, as so far, they seem the cheapest (under $4 a roll).

Try this for the different colors:Google ATG Purple. I found a few options including pink, and yellow. Good Luck, I love my ATG. I get refills from the Framing Supplies.
I bought my 714 and adhesive from cropandstick.com. Great prices!! 3M Scotch ATG 908 Gold for $3.50 each ... less if you buy 12, not including shipping. Great service, too!!!
I can't seem to get the search engine to work this am........I have been teetering on the edge for months over an ATG 714........the reviews are always so good! However, I guess my hesitation comes from the fact that I totally dislike AdTech tape runners-they always get goopy and malfunction for me-and they are also made by 3M. Can someone assure me that the guns don't "goop up"??? :-) Thanks! ( I know this has probably been addressed before, but when I type ATG in the search window, it says no matches found???! )
My 714 is on the way from CropandStick. I cna't remember the website for the different colored guns, but they were right at $85 for the gun only. I can paint mine a lot cheaper than that. I got the gun, 2 rolls of gold tape, shipping for under $60. I think it will arrive today or Monday.
I bought that a while back. I've been having a lot of issues with the tape gun or the tape. Not sure which. My daughter-in-law seems to do fine with it, though she has only used it a little. The problems I'm having is several.
1) the sticky tape itself rolls around one of the two rollers. Have to clear the roller a lot.
2) Once I 'snap' a roll of tape into those grooves, it backs back off. I have discovered that if I take an empty roll and push that down on top of the other tape roll, that works well. Keeps the tape roll from moving upwards (and hence not lay tape down at all).
3) The take up wheel for the used tape gets tangled and I have to remove it several times and restart the threading. I have noticed that the fix of #2 seems to help this problem.
There are a lot of people that don't have any issue with the ATG, but I do. I also have lost a some upper body strength so my inability to push down hard enough to get the tape down might be one of the problems. That could also be the tape. I have noticed on my last several rolls of that tape, that I can reposition (wasn't able to at first, it stuck so well). Anyway, I'm giving it to my daughter and waiting my ATG 714 shipment.

Scrappinmoments - thank you so much for the info. I currently use the Glue Glider Pro, and I'm ready to pitch it out the window. Sometimes it's hard to start, and then the paper curls back on itself, the cartriges are one complete unit so there is no way to "reset" a mucked up roll.
I really don't know too much what the difference between ATG50 and ATG714 really is. Size? Manufacturer? I did go to the TapeDepot website and there were alot of "fixes" listed for problems that people must have been having. But gee, that package price seems really good. I suppose if I got it and had issues with the gun itself, I could buy a ATG714 and maybe still use the tape?

I placed it on January 29. I've called twice and talked with Marsha. The first time she said they were due in the middle of March and the second call she said they were due the end of March. I haven't received any e-mails regarding it but all of a sudden it showed up on my credit card account on March 27. As of today I haven't received it but it's coming coast to coast so I'll wait a few days before I call again.

Great Karen, I hope you get yours soon. I ordered mine well after you so I may still have a little wait. It is good to know that they are back in stock. Hope you get yours tomorrow!

I ordered mine from findtape.com on 3/24 and received a shipping notice and UPS tracking yesterday. It is scheduled to arrive tomorrow! I'm kinda excited--especially since I only have one more cartridge for my Glue Glider Pro! I will be anxious (well more anxious than normal) to get home from work tomorrow! Woo Hoo!
I received my ATG 714 today. Not bad, ordered it on the 27, and received it on the 31. I showed it to my DH and showed him what parts I will tape up and I wanted him to spray it when I get the paint.
He just looked at me like I was nuts and said "why do you want to do that?"

Well, I just got my ATG 50 and 12 rolls of adhesive from the Tape Depot store on ebay. OMG!!!! I love it. Love it! I pulled out the directions, loaded it correctly on the first try ( who saw that coming?) and it lays down so smooth easy. Press the trigger, run the adhesive, let loose the trigger and pull up. Perfect.
Anyway, since I'm still not sure what the difference is between the ATG 714 and ATG 50 -except price ------ for anyone thinking about a less expensive version of the 714, then I say go for the ATG50. You won't be disappointed. It is great! Why did I wait this long????

I gave my ATG 50 to my daughter-in-law as I had a difficult time with it. She has no problem at all, and couldn't understand why I did. The 714 is easier for me.

Scrappinmoments- I probably just had beginners luck. But yeah, so far no problems at all. I've used it pretty much all afternoon, and I couldn't be happier. It was the glue glider pro that gave me problems. Somehow the adhesive would roll back on itself and separate. No problems with the ATG 50.

The tracking of the tape on the 714 is on the left side of the rollers, where as on the 50 it is along the right. The only way I could see the tape roll down was if I stood up. Of course, my daughter-in-law is like 5'11" so she is tall enough that even sitting, she's over the ATG enough to see where the tape is rolling over the paper. I think that was my biggest problem, difficulty following where it was laying down the tape.
The other problem might be the tape or it was the ATG not sure. Will have to do some more testing with the 714. But the tape wasn't laying down and just rolling back up or collecting over the rollers. If I stood up and really pressed down on it, no problem Again, I was having to stand to do any taping.
I really hope I won't have these problems with the 714. It's been good so far, but I haven't used it much.

Oh My Gosh! I ordered mine on March 4th and still have not received it. And to think I could have driven down the road and found it at Office Depot!! Lol!
