Hello everyone! It's the 5th Monday of March and we voted on what type of challenge we wanted and the winning vote was Scraps to Cards.
I know that you all have a big box of scraps that are just dying to be used. So get out that scrap box, dust it off and fall in love again with some of your past favorite patterns.
Your challenge is to use your scraps to make some greeting cards. We all could use a ready made stash of cards for times when we just need to pop one in the mail. I know as a scrapper I tend to put off making the cards until I need one and I often regret that decision. So for this week dust off your stamps, Cricuts, and other card-making tools and put them to some good old-fashioned handmade card use.
I did create a fun card tonight but I am going to wait until daylight tomorrow to photograph it and upload it here to share with you.
Can't wait to see what everyone comes up with.
Please use the keywords IFC72 when uploading your cards to the gallery.
You can find all projects submitted for this challenge HERE.
FYI:This will be the last inspiration challenge that I will be posting on a weekly basis. Towards the end of last year I cut the challenge postings back to twice a month due to lack of participation. However, with the start of 2010 I reinstated it on a weekly basis along with a weekly theme. Even so, participation has not increased it has actually decreased more. I've given it 3 months which is the general probationary period to see if something is going to work. In general there seems to be a lack of interest in scrapbooking challenges here on SCS. I know these are tough times for many of us. I can totally understand not being interested in participating. I also know that there are tons of challenge blogs out there and forums that are dedicated to scrapping and those seem to attract the attention of a scrapbooker. I think in general there is an overwhelming amount of challenges to choose from. We have VSBN coming up soon and that will provide a ton of great challenges to scrap to. So, with all that in mind I just don't see a need at this time for a weekly scrapbook inspiration challenge. Let's face it...a week goes by too fast anyway. I will continue to post the challenge because I still enjoy it and it pushes me to scrapbook. Just not on a weekly basis. I will post the challenge twice a month on the 2nd and 4th Mondays. Therefore, our next challenge will be posted on April 12th. I hope you all have a wonderful and blessed Easter and I will see you back here on the 12th of April.:p
Jenn, I can understand your reasons for cutting back. It's true, there are a lot of challenges, but I have to say, I'll miss seeing your ideas every week. Even though I can't always do your challenge, I always enjoy your ideas and look forward to reading them.
Thanks for all you've done and I'm glad you'll still be posting challenges every other week!

Thanks for all your challenges... They are always so awesome... I play every week, I just don't always post my pages and LO's here on SCS.
I too understand the issues you are having. I too have seen a huge drop in Challenge scrappers who participate on the 52 Week/Thursday challenge. For a long time I use to think that maybe it was me and Lela & I have often commented on the decreases. But, I have truly began to see things in a different light... between all the new digi stuff, new demo agreements and the economical challenges that a lot of us are facing at the time, I think that maybe often paper scrapping can be overwhelming and costly.
I am so grateful to you and all the time you spend putting your challenges together for us. THANK YOU!!! and I look forward to continuing and enjoying your challenges on a bi-monthly basis...
Thanks for all that you have done. I always get great ideas from your challenges just rarely find the time to complete them. I guess I'll have to go back to the challenges that I didn't complete on the weeks that you are not posting new challenges. Still looking forward to your twice a month challenges.

Thanks Ladies for all your kind words. I really do appreciate it. I will try to make those twice a month challenges as special as I can. :p
Jenn I think all of the challenges you do are special as are you. With all of the things we have shared with each other I feel that we are old friends. I know that often we just are not up to challenges for several reasons but that is no reflection on your wonderful ideas. I will look forward to you twice a month challenges and I know they will be exciting and challenging! Keep smiling!!!!!!

Thank you for the challenge, I find it much easier and faster to make a card than to make a scrap layout. I fell in love with dragons while my kids were in high school.........they brought home a book in the Dragon Riders Of Pern series.
What better way to use some of the green leftover papers from Basic Grays Origins than with a green dragon.

I hate that you are cutting back to twice a month, Jenn. I have certainlly enjoyed your challenges over the years, and am sorry for my lack of participation in the past year. I am trying to get back into scrapping, but my card making has zapped all of my mojo as of late. I have noticed a decline in the participation in the SCS cardmaking challenges, too. I agree it is everything to do with the hard economical times and the amount of challenges circulating in blog land.
Thank you so much for everything you have done and continue to do for the inspiration challenge. I will be visiting and participating when I can. Just need to get out of this no scrapbook mojo funk! LOL!

Thanks Emily for your kind words. It's so difficult for people today to keep up with everything that is offered out there. Especially when they are offering prizes. It amazes me how many people will submit a creation when there is only one prize being given away. I've always created because I enjoyed it and I've never once won any of those freebies. But, I'm not above offering them to get people to participate in my challenges. In fact, it's something I'm considering right now. I have tons of great stuff I can offer. I just hate dealing with the shipping and packaging part. Plus, if you're on a design team then you have obligations to create for them. I know because I was on a design team last year for Scrapperie which is no longer in business and that's just another example of the hard economic times. Then there is the technology of digital scrapping which has wooed a lot of people and I certainly understand that.

Yes Patti, we are definitely old friends. You and many others on here have been there for me through thick and then. And I love you guys for that and that is why I stick around here. Thanks for everything!:p
Even though I just started this challenge series in Jan, the weekly challenge has pushed me to make a page when I didn't really feel like I had time. I will miss the weekly challenge, but I will keep trying to post when I create. We are off to the Grand Canyon early Sat morn, so I won't get any scrapping done, but will take hundreds of photos. Now I just need to remember not to just take pictures of the rocks...

Jenn
Did you happen to put it in a consultants only gallery? For some reason I can't see it.
Leah
Yes Leah, I put it in Member Companies because I used a Unity stamp set but I didn't realize that would restrict who could see it. I've moved it but it will take a little bit for the change to take effect. So I'll repost it shortly.
Great challenge Jenn I have so many scraps from various projects and this is a great way to use them. I made two cards. Everything but the card base is from my scrap box even the ribbon! TFL
