how to adhere vellum and acetate to paper on an ATC

I'm wanting to add a sentiment to an atc and will have to type it up. I'm thinking of either doing the sentiment on vellum or inkjet acetate. My questions is --what is the best way to adhere either vellum or acetate to the stamped part of the atc? Has anyone tried scoring the acetate at the ends to make folds that would wrap around to the back of the ATC? Does this work? I'm open to any and all suggestions. The design doesn't lend itself to securing with brads,etc. Best adhesives???

There are a couple of products specifically for adhering vellum...vellum tape and vellum glue dots. I like the glue dots a lot...they are very tiny and unobtrusive.

I knew about the tape, but it sometimes still shows through. Didn't know about the dots. I assume you can get them at Hobby Lobby, JoAnne's or Michaels. Thanks for your prompt answer to my question. I still have a couple of days to figure out what I'm actually going to do. We have a scrap and stamp crop on Friday and I wanted to be able to work on my atcs there. Just need to get everything all ready for that day.It's so nice to be able to post a question and get replies.

You're welcome! I think I got mine at a "gourmet" stamping store...more of a boutique. The package gives their website as www.gluedots.com (what else would it be?) so maybe you can check on retailers there?

Still debating as to whether to run the vellum through the printer or use ink jet acetate. Have both just need to play around with it.

I have been using these alot - to print out special sayings, poems and personalized greetings for cards. Then quickly embossing them out of the ink jet printer... they work beautifully and add a great variety than just stamps. However, it took a while to find an adhesive that truly worked and didn't look junky. My favorites are the 3M brand of roll tape for vellum. I cannot tell where the tape is when I adhere it to a card design. That is a HIGH COMPLIMENT for that tape and it is reasonably priced. Another one I have used is clear glue like Crystal Effects, only my brand is the Ranger brand. That too dried clear and leaves no residue to show thru. I use that most with the clear acetate sheets and I used the 3M roll tape for vellum - with my vellum mounts. No brads or punches are needed - I have been very pleased with these two. The others I tried just ended up in that big black hole of never to be used again!

Thanks for the great info. I'm storing it in my notebook of tricks. When you said "quickly embossing them out of the ink jet printer" did you really mean using clear embossing powder on them! That's something that you can do?? Did not know that!

Yes, you can easily emboss from your ink jet printer on vellum and acetate. As soon as it comes out - I sprinkle on the powder, then have my heat gun right next to my computer so I can heat it up. Dries very nicely just don't get the gun too close to the papers! (ask me how I know this! ;-)

What I would LIKE TO KNOW is IF AND HOW one can wet emboss on regular cardstock printed on the ink jet printer. I have not had any success doing that. Sure wish I could use regular stock and not just vellum and acetate.

If someone knows how to do this, would sure appreciate knowing how that is done. I know I have read about people doing that. But I can't figure out how.

I can't help you out with how to wet emboss on regular cardstock. I've never tried it and haven't seen anything written about it. Wish I could help you out especially since you gave me such good info. I've burned paper before with the heat gun too!

MUKat, I wouldn't bother trying the Glue Dots dots for vellum. Not if you want it to stay on for long. I have them, but only use them in absolute need, because they don't stick all that well.

I recently used something to adhere my acetate and it didn't show....
Now if I could only remember! :rolleyes:
It would have been scor-tape, red liner tape or scotch double sided tape.
