Default Miss All the SU Cards and projects!!

It's really sad that since many SU demos started putting their creations on the SU website that now hardly anyone is putting them in the galleries here. I use to love sending e-cards to my customers and friends and it would motivate them into buying more SU products. I'm hoping after reading this that some of you will come back.

I think more people need to ask SU! to open their site to customers. It would be to their benefit to allow customers to see all the beautiful cards that can be made with the products that they sell. And it would be a place that customers could go and not have to hear all the SU! bashing that occurs on this site. They also need to have the samples according to sets.

Mginker, That's a great idea. I personally though have never had a bad experience on this site and still love it! If it wasn't for SCS I don't know what I would have done for so many ideas and information, etc.

There was a thread not too long ago about this very same issue:

Forums at Splitcoaststampers

For what it's worth, I agree and I wish we could see all of the cards here on splitcoast- even the demo's cards.

I agree - it is sad....and my demo's loss....I have spent a small fortune on sets because I saw examples of cards posted in the gallery...and lately it seems like I have been buying other stamps...because I see more cards made with "other" stamps.

OK, I don't get to the gallery much these days, so I can't say I've noticed much of a change. So you all are saying that there's a dramatic reduction in SU uploads? Are you sure it's because of SU's new/upgraded demo site? I guess I would have thought that a good part of the reason for a reduction would be more that the catalog is winding down, the latest mini and SAB catalogs are winding down, and perhaps the "new set" frenzy has died down for a while. I don't know, really, I'm just wondering. I can't really see one thing being the whole explanation I guess.

If that is the case, though, I'd be willing to bet that you'll see an upswing in SCS SU uploads soon enough. Between new catalogs coming out, and the fact that the other gallery is nothing short of chaos, lol, I think people will head back this way. I haven't uploaded over there, so I have no idea if it's an easier process than here, but I've heard that the process is more "logical" over here if that makes any sense. It's easier here to upload in a way that makes searching for it a snap.

Hang in there, ladies!

I put my SU cards in the gallery and don't get many comments on them. I know it shouldn't happen, but my baby feelings get hurt when I don't get that positive reinforcement. It makes me re-consider when it takes me so long to post my creations, list all supplies, etc. and people like to favorite them, but can't take the time to say thanks via a comment.

Don't feel bad about not getting comments. Some of the cards in my gallery that I think are some of my best, don't get comments. The fact that people take the time to view them at all, I consider positive reinforcement. However, with that said, I do love to read what other people think about my work, especially considering how long the entire process takes from start to finish. Maybe I have baby feelings too after all! {p.s. your gallery is great!}

I too agree that the customers should see the demos gallery on SU site. I was one that wrote and in and suggested it Also How not seeing samples will hurt thier sales. I am a very visual person. No, I do not think it is the catty winding down. It is thier own site. I already stated demos do not have time to post in both sites ( that is being realistic.) I spent alot of money at SU but without those posts I proably wont be as apt to buy as many of SU stamps. Gina K has a great gallery as well as Our Daily Bread, I am sure other stamp companies do to. Do you have any more stamp companies names that have and share thier galleries with thier customers? I see that Sizzix has a great one too. I would be interested in checking them out. My Demo is great about shareing ideas but she works over 40hours a week and getting together with her is darn hard. I am one that does not make many comments on cards. I really do apperciate all the time that the ladies go to to post those cards though.

As for gallery comments....I personally find it more rewarding to see that one of my cards has been favorited than commented on. A comment is nice and encouraging but a favorite tells me "I REALLY like this and want to refer back to it for inspiration".

If I were a SU! (or other company) I would think a favorite might bring an order, if not right away somewhere down the road, because if they like the card and don't own the stamp they might make a purchase because of their favorited card(s).

I still post my projects here on SCS. I think it's very important to keep a SU presence here. I am the first to admit that there's some stamp sets that really need to be stamped with to be truly appreciated.

One thing I have noticed about SCS lately......I've been having major issues trying to upload projects (errors about connection problems....yet I can access other sites fine). Sounds like SCS is having some server issues that they may need to resolve.

I know they've been doing some maintenance to the site lately and I think I read somewhere that they will be doing some more....something to do with the server, I'm not really sure, but this is why there has been some problems lately.

You are right, Patty. There is site maintenance going on in preparation for our move to the Internet Brands servers in the next week, and things have been a little sluggish from time to time this week. We should be back to normal once that server move takes place. Thanks for your patience with us!

Thumbs up Stampin Up cards being viewed

I personally have bought Stampin Up stamps and products after viewing card that ws made with a product. Sometimes the book showing the stamp doesn't do it justice.

You probably know this already, but just in case anyone doesn't know, you can search in the gallery under SUO (SU! only) or even (I think) SUM (SU! mostly). I have no time right now to doublecheck my SUM theory (memory is hazy on that one)... but I know for sure SUO will bring up cards that only use SU! products.

My demo was told by her upline to change from posting in the regular gallery to posting where only other demos could see them....like I said earlier I get inspiration from looking at cards made...and often times will buy the set if I don't have it because of what I see in the gallery...and lately more of my money has been going to other brand stamps...I just finished looking at the gallery from today's postings and there were very few stampin up cards there compared to what there used to be....it is disappointing...but I keep looking anyway....
I am sorry that I don't make a lot of comments on cards but by putting one in my favorites I hope that the creator knows that I love it!!! But I promise to try to do better at making comments....

I'm still posting here. I typically wait until I have a bunch to upload and do it all at once, which I did yesterday. I'm sure the uploads will pick up here soon since the preorder for the Summer Mini starts soon!!

I too am posting both places, I'm just behind over here because it seems to take longer here or sometimes I get error messages. I also wait until I have quite a few to upload and do it only once or twice a month or so. Personally I have been getting more upload notices than ever it seems so I don't think there is a drop in SU cards. It does go in cycles too, say around certain holidays and what not. I can't imagine why any upline would tell a demo not to post here. That just doesn't make any sense. And I do think it's great that we demos do have a place that we can post as well. It's nice to see what others who may not have been on SCS are doing and it's just nice the SU has made it available to us. It's really great to have a place that is pretty much SU only, since I am SUO! And it's just another perk of being a demo, just like the demo side over here!

I think Demos want their "own" site bc they don't want customers to be able to see a design or project before they get to the workshop. They want the "oh, what a good idea!" comment. Personally, I would think that selling more sets because someone saw what you can do with them would far outweigh any ah-ha moment at a stamp camp or workshop, but I'm not a demo. I can't tell you how many sets I've bought just bc I saw them here! Tons! That' bc I saw it used in a way that I wouldn't have thought of it before, or found a technique or color or embellishment.... etc, etc. I really hope this place continues to be the resource for us SU lovers that it always has been!!!!

Attention all demos: POST HERE... we love you and your ideas! Don't 'hide it under a bushel',no!... you'll sell more here! You aren't going to sell anything showing off to yourselves!

Thanks, I feel better now.

I've been wondering why I don't see nearly as many SU cards as I have in the past. I agree. I've seen tons of other compaines with cards that were beautiful. I bought their sets instead of SU since I'm not seeing anything really creative out there lately with the SU products.

If the demos are putting it on SU's site instead, they will be losing business. If they want to keep it hidden from their customers until the great unveiling - great please do so. But afterwards they would be money ahead to show the world as lots of more SU customers like me would be getting new, fresh ideas.

SU is looking real stale to me lately. I can find plenty of other fresh ideas from the other competitors.

I really wish SU would get smart and open up their site to non-demos to see all the great demo ideas. There's little to be seen on their current site - plus their samples never really gets updated.

Until then, I'll be spending my money on non-SU products.

We are not hiding anything. If you are referencing the upcoming mini catalog we cannot order until April 1 so there is nothing to show now. We CAN upload to SCS as soon as we get our pre-order. So come the 2nd or 3rd you may be seeing things from the demos who expidited shipping.

And a lot of demos are posting both places. SCS is better in my opinion anyway in terms of organization.

I just finished looking at "today's gallery" and there are only 6 pages ......a few months ago there was always 12 - 15 or more pages....I really believe that is a direct result of the new "demo only" gallery....like I said in an earlier posting...I'm buying more stamps from other companies now.....there are some AWESOME ones out there....and some of them have free shipping which is another plus. Makes me sad for Stampin Up because that's where I started this hobby at and I still love their stuff....

part of the reason for not as many gallery additions right now might be the problems people are having with the performance of the board

I thought I read somewhere that SU was in the process of creating its own forum for demos and customers, similar to the company only forums that many companies have -- Amuse, Waltzingmouse, Cornish Heritage, PTI, etc. come to mind.

So maybe this is just the beginning of a bigger effort on SU's part that will bring demos and customers together in one place...

Also let's not forget that many demos left SU when they were unable to sign the new contract. They didn't give up stamping when they left. They are still posting all the time. It's just that now they are using images from other companies.

I'm sure a lot of their customers followed them to new horizons as well.

I lost my demo and my SU stamping has probably dropped by 75% or more. It has led me to find better images, better inks, and better papers elsewhere.

part of that is today is Sunday and unless you are a fan club member you are asked not to upload today to give the mods a break

I have just been looking through the SU Only gallery. In the last 14 days there have been 12164 pix added. Doesn't seem like a shortage to me!!!!!

I do not have a big gallery, but I do post cards in my gallery. There are so many talented people who do such beautiful work here on SCS, that unless I am really happy with something I create, I will not post it. I am more than happy to share my ideas and l will continue to post my cards here. I agree that people need to see what can be done with our stuff. And you never know who just might be inspired by something I create and post.

The SU gallery out here is the first place I go when I want ideas for sets I have. The great thing for me is that even older, retired sets are still out here and I can usually find an idea I haven't tried yet. I appreciate that in these tight economic times. Would I love to buy new stamps?? Sure! But since I can't; it's nice to have the SU gallery here.

When I was a demo; I often used this site for ideas for workshops or make and takes...and I ALWAYS told my customers the ideas came from here!! For one thing, I didn't want to "take credit" for something then have a customer find it out here on their own and think poorly of me; and I liked directing my customers out here because they might see a card they loved with an SU set they didn't have yet and place an order! I actually did get a few orders that way!

Like another poster said; once the server issues are settled and once the new mini becomes available as well as the new big catalog, I'm sure we will see plenty more SU cards posted.

I have found less SU cards, but also there are more and more new stamp companies....sometimes I go through about four or five pages using stamps that are not my style before I find something I like... I usually try to do 20 pages and leave five comments but sometimes it's hard.... ( I don't only like S.U. but a lot of the newer companies don't do it for me.)

Samples sell! Whether it's a new cracker being offered for me to taste in a store or whether it's a SU card in the gallery for ALL to see...products sell when you see/taste/feel the end result. I can't tell you the number of times I've viewed a SU cattie and didn't care for certain sets at all. Then I see a WOW card posted online or made by my demo, and suddenly I can't live without it. Hope this lets you demos know how much we customers really do need and want to see your samples!

Neither did I. Thanks Sophie for telling us about SUM. I also tried MSU keyword (mostly Stampin up) gallery search and I found some more cards using that one as well.

What an interesting conversation!

I go through a process, and even though it ends up taking me FOREVER, I feel like it's just part of keeping everything fair, lol. ;-) I have learned soooo much from SCS, and I don't ever want to leave that behind. However, I also value a SU demo-only site....sorry to those who don't agree. I *will* say that site needs work, it's not as well-organized as SCS.

I first post on my blog, then open 2 tabs, starting the process of uploading to SCS and SC at the same time. As one is working, I switch to the other, and back & forth it goes, until I've finished both, plus shared my post on Facebook. Worth it? Maybe, lol.

It feels like SCS has been a little overrun by sooo many new stamp sets until there is no way I could remember them all anymore...a lot has changed in 3 years! Don't get me wrong...I think it's great that all these people are using their creativity to recognize a dream and start their own companies! That being said, I'm also sooo glad there's still all the SU categories...LOVE that!!

"I'm sorry" to you on behalf of those demos who no longer post here...it IS a loss! I really wish more would do as I am, even though it takes more time. However, I think it's probably less instances of omission than people think...as has been mentioned...it is a slower time (SAB & Occasions have been out for 2 months), lots of demos have quit, etc...

I've been frustrated with problems on SCS at times, but that is rare. At any rate (ramble, ramble, ramble)...I *heart* SCS and still check it out every day! I sure hope not a whole lot changes with the new ownership...unless they're *good* changes, lol! Keep up the good work, SCS!

I go in spurts ... I always upload to my blog first and if I have time and energy I'll upload here as well. Of course, any and all challenge cards are posted here! I also upload to the SU demo-only site. My reasons have nothing to do with keeping things "private". If I wanted it kept private, I wouldn't post anywhere!

I'll try and make more time but like Michelle said:

I agree with others here, that we're coming to the end of SAB and a new mini is on it's way.... a lot of demo's didn't sign the new agreement and have moved on... and with soooo many blogs out in stamp land.... and like others have said, there is the SUO gallery here... it's complete chaos over at the SU! gallery site.... so you're not missing anything.... but, another nice gallery for SUO products is over at http://www.stampinaddicts.com/ it also is put together nicely... It is nice to see what others have done with the same stamp set. It's truly inspiring to see each other's works....

Stamp on...
Faith
