The big thick white plate (I forgot what it's called), then your clear plate, then your Nestie face up, then your paper, then the other clear plate. That's for cutting. For embossing, you'll need the big thick plate, the Nestie face up, your paper, two of the Nestie tan embossing pads, a 12x6 piece of paper folded three times (to make it 4x6), and then a clear plate. Or, you can add a shim of cardstock to the first (cutting) sandwich (I use the folded 12x6 piece of paper in my BS) and it'll cut and emboss in one shot.

BTW, most of the newer Nesties come with printed directions for all major types of die cutting machines (including the BS). They're an easy, handy reference.
