Default Ways to fold cards

Hi- Would anyone be willing to share some new ideas for folding cards??
I'm fairly new to card making and crafting in general and am getting bored with just folding the paper in half! If you could please share measurements as well.

Thanks and happy stampin,

Heidi

You might check out the resources section and look under projects ... they have some fun ways to fold cards. Personally, I like the pocket cards, gate cards and criss cross! if you sign up for the newsletter you will get great ideas (and techniques) sent to you via email! Good luck!

I love making concertina cards - this example forms an M shape after it has been folded.

Xmas Tree M Concertina

To make that particular card I use a piece of CS 9" x 6" and score and fold at 2.25", 4.5" and 6.75". I don't stick down any additions to the card before measuring it against an envelope so I know it will fit!

Recently, I made an M concertina from a 9" x 6" piece of CS - but scored and folded at 1.5", 3" and 6" so the back part is higher than the front. Haven't finished it yet though!

Another one of my faves is to score the whole front panel of a card at the halfway point and fold it back on itself - it makes another concertina card. I made this square anniversary card a few months back, it's not in my SCS gallery so here's a thumbnail. This was a 6" x 6" square card so I scored the front panel at 3" and folded it back. Simple but effective!

I like pocket card folds, secured with adhesive. Gate fold are nice too, especially tied with ribbon or linen thread.

I don't know if there is a name for this fold. I guess it's kind of like a swing card in that the base of the oval (underneath the scallops) is actually cut out of the side of the card front that is hidden when the card is closed, and then when the card is open you would never look at what would traditionally be the "front", which isn't even decorated. Instead you would display is the way it looks here: together forever by stampwithdiane at Splitcoaststampers.

Does anyone know how to fold paper to make it into a tree for the front of a card?

The other night I was looking to change some of my swap cards I am making for swaps here on SCS.

So came up with this.

Two Fold

I used Ivory Cardstock for the base of my card. Regular A2 size, then cut the Wine color Cardstock just a tad smaller. Place the pink cardstock under the wine color Cs,
Folded it over.
Then took some Ivory CS, and wine color CS, placed them together, and folded it over to fold over the Pink cardstock.

Added some eyelets and ribbon to keep the card shut.

And the added the butterfly ontop of the wine colored Cs,

The inside reads "Flutterby oh butterfly.

I wanted to share one other fold. I guess you'd call it double mini buckle? Basically you take a 4.25x11 piece of card stock and score it 4.5" from one long edge and 1" from another. Then you use the horizontal slot punch to make your buckle openings and the word window punched shapes as your bucke. Christmas Love by stampwithdiane at Splitcoaststampers

Also, for something different you can just make your cards a little smaller or larger, you just need to get envelopes to match.

OK I looked at all of these and am not sure what to call my card that I received from DSS big sis. It started out at 4 1/4 x 11. It was folded in the middle and then the front was folded in half again. It has a small square attached to the folded front panel so that the small panel is half on the folded part. Anyone know what this type of card is called.

Sounds a little like a Joy Fold card:

Sometimes a simple change in fold makes a big difference. I folded this like a gate fold card, simple but different enough to make it interesting:
