THose are the ones SU sells, but I've seen then in craft stores as well. Each round sponge makes 4 like you see in the picture.

More $$ through SU! Still not expensive, though.

In actuality, they are inexpensive pottery sponges you can get just about at any craft store and online.

They are also sold as tack cleaning sponges for horse saddles. Really cheap by the dozen.

Exactly the same thing.

Very cleaver, I was going to start buying those dabbers that have a sponge on the end of a plastic tube, but this will be much more cost effective! Off to do this! TFS

Jmho, but I think you really need both. LOL. You get a different look from the sponges and the daubers.

Thumbs up

I use cosmetic sponges from the beauty section at Wally World. They tear into wedges and I pinch the edges to get a rounded surface when using them. Looks like I could staple on a label to do the same thing!

The cosmetic sponge is very fine grained, and the look is much more similar to a sponge dauber than the yellow sponges.

The pack is one or two dollars and it tears into a bunch of wedges, maybe 20? VERY cost effective!!!

You can get the 12 pack of Hydra Tack Sponges at Smith Brothers website - they are a horse supplies company. They are $3.49 for a 12-pack, unlike Amazon which was $5.95.
http://www.smithbrothers.com/tack-sponge-12-pack/p/X3-1033/cn/1575/

I'm going to order some - should be a nice contrast to the look I get with the make-up sponge wedges!

I could put several bags in the cart without increasing the base shipping of $6.95, so this would be a great product to combine on with your local friends! Plus the sponges do wear out and need replacing pretty often, if you use them as much as I do!

Interestingly, Smith Brothers shows the MSRP list price as $3.99. So. . . how much is Stampin' Up! selling the same sponges for??? Gracious!

I really LOVE the idea of getting more use out of that Round Tab Punch, and keeping my fingers cleaner at the same time! GREAT TIP, thanks Michelle for sharing it on your blog!!!

I am also going to follow Beate's tip on using Distress Inks for sponging - since they take longer to dry, you shouldn't need to re-ink the sponge so often. That's really nice when you sponge practically everything you do!

That Amazon Prime trial membership is SUCH a great ploy. I cannot tell you how much I purchased during my trial membership!! They made money on that deal even though I cancelled, LOL!! That "FREE" trial was VERY expensive!!!!

Wonder if I can get another trial . . . note to self - check into it in case I get a tax return. . . . That free 2-day shipping sure was nice!!

Unfortunately I believe the Amazon sponges are from another horse supply company, not sold by Amazon.

Small hijack: I checked out the sponges, but did you see this tote? Looks like a good one for cardmaking, scrapbooking, etc. and at $9.95, the price can't be beat!

It does look super, what an awesome price. And four colors to choose from - you can give them to your scrappin' and stampin' buddies for Christmas! Just kidding. They really do look nice, all those pockets would be so useful even right in my craft room, much less taking it anywhere!

Hi gals, I posted about the horse tack cleaning sponges being the same. I KNOW I've got them for less but do you think I can find out where now? I'll have to go through a bunch of my horse catalogs to see. I usually buy them for $3 for a dozen and that place has free shipping for over $50 so I throw in a couple when I order horse things. I have yet to wear one of those sponges wear out stamping, even cleaning a saddle, I throw when they get grungy. Makeup sponges wear out fast though. What do is after I use them for a while stamping, I throw them in a bag and wash them or just in the sink until they quit coloring the water. After that I can use one that I did black with on yellow without a problem. I know if I did the tabs I couldn't do that as the tabs would get messed up (unless I laminated them...hmmmm) but then I wouldn't have to wash them either. Now I can throw them all in a ziplock and pull out when I need, where will I store the ones with the tab? The SU ones are about $3.50 for 3 sponges.

I just went to look at the 12-pack of Hydra Tack Sponges at Smith Brothers and they have turned BLUE!!! BRIGHT BLUE!!! Not a nice surprise at all, I would much prefer the yellow.

I wonder if the blue has the same texture and resiliance as the yellow?

I don't think I need to organize my sponges. I think the whole idea is kind of silly, but to each her own.

I LOVE her storage and it looks SO pretty but I would like to see the actual ink samples. Ink looks different when it is stamped, sponged, daubered, etc. So, I organized my slightly differently so that I can have actual ink samples! You can see my complete details here. I also don't use very many, and I want to keep my Tim Holtz stuff, daubers, and sponges in one place.

I ordered four packs. They just arrived and three are orange and one is yellow. I guess the horses don't care what color they are.

I got mine many years ago, and I am pretty sure I got it from Michaels.

I'm guessing it's one of those Plano boxes they sell at craft stores near the embroidery floss?

Good idea. I like knowing what ink is on what sponge so I don't muddy colors. What if you need/want to wash them?
