Default Ink Spots

That's what I have done--bought the Earth Elements set, and then added full sized pads in Old Olive, Chocolate Chip, Ruby Red, and Creamy Caramel. For the others--the stampin' spots do the job. I did buy the whole set of reinkers. Works for me!

I find the regular size ink pads easier to use but I don't think there is any difference in quality. I do like the Stampin Spots for going to crops. I can take a lot of colors and they don't take up much room in my bag.

I prefer the full size ink pads, the spot are just to small for me. I hate to ink larger stamps with them, much easier with the regular size ink pads. I did start out with the spots and ordered the full size pads a few at a time until I got them all.

I really like the full sized pads. I used some spots at a workshop last week. There was a butterfly stamp that was maybe two inches across. When I stamped on the ink spot it left lines from the edges of the spot. Then I dropped it because it was so small. Someone else said they had done the same thing.

Maybe I was doing something wrong in regard to the lines being left on the stamp from the edge of the spot.

I just know I love the full size pads better.

I mostly use the spots. I do recommend getting the refills eventually because if you use them a lot you will need to reink. Occasionally you will get a thread coming off from the edge, and you need to store them flat and not upside down or they leak. Those are my only complaints, I do use them for large background stamps, and to avoid the lines someone mentioned in an earlier post, you just need to move the ink spot around as you stamp, sort of a gentle rubbing motion and it isn't a problem. Because they are small, I can sometimes carefully ink only part of a stamp. I own a few full size pads but I actually prefer the spots. I love having all the colors, and my full size pads tend to dip in the middle eventually and I find it frustrating.

If you can play with both before you buy, it will help you decide which you prefer. Good luck.

this is such an individual preference. I love my spots - I have very few full-sized pads

I'd agree that the full size pads are easier to use, but I get the same quality from my spots as I do from the full size pads. Using the spots is similar to use the daubers to apply color.

I bought spots first. And really the only full size ink pads I have are ones I got from Ebay used but in good condition for dirt cheap The only full size pad I use all the time is the black, and even then I prefer using my Staz-on because I get a better, darker image than I do from the SU black.

I have the ink spots in every color (even the really old retired ones) in both classic and craft. I personally like not only the space saving of the small size and the cost saving of being able to get every color for a fraction of the price of the large pads, but I also find them easier to apply to my stamps. I have tried the big pads, and, just my personal preference, I don't like them. I have a dickens of a time getting them opened and closed. And the couple big pads I did get had a dip in the middle which made for uneven coverage. So I sold them. I'll stick with my spots.

I like the full sized pads the best but use the spots especially when I want to just ink a part of the stamp and I have lost track of the markers. I will admit I am a very untidy stamper.

I prefer the spots - I turn my stamps rubber side up and pat them with the spots to check for full coverage. They are more affordable and it is easier to afford them in every color. Some of my older stamp pads have curled somewhat too, making them more difficult to use anyway. I also love my markers for coloring parts of stamps or sentiments as well.

Just my two cents! Enjoy!

I like the spots for the cost but also they are space savers. I did buy the full sized pads but only in the colors I use the most. HTH

I also like the spots. I mostly use black and brown Momento Ink but anytime I need color ink, Ink Spots from S/U are great. I love that they don't take a lot of space. And they're definitely more affordable.

I use the spots all the time. I too find them a great value & a space saver. I have last years in colors in full size pads & I ended up using the re-inkers to make my own spots. I just bought the reinkers for the in colors this year & made my own pads again. I use the felt cut n dry from Ranger. I cut out squared & I keep them in little hinged containers I got from Impression Obsession. Am I the only one that doesn't like the full sized Su pads? I find them bulky & awkward to open. JIL

I don't have any of these, yet as I have all of the larger pad collections except Bold Brights...but I am considering investing in them because they are so portable, versatile and convenient. I think they would work well with the smaller stamps, too.

One of my customers got a set of these and she loves them. It's a great way to try out the different colors - then you can get larger pads in the colors you really like and use the most.

I like them too. My sister was having a problem but she forgot to store them upside down. i made numbered lables that we ran through the 1.5 xyron, turned the spots upside down and added the lables. now we know which order the go in, much easier when looking for one. I do have about 15-18 of the large than I bought from another SUD. They do dip in the middle but I take the pad to stamp anyway.

The spots are great if you want all the colors in the "color family" because they are so much cheaper. I would eventually get the large pads, but to start with a full set of colors would be awesome. I bought the craft pads that way because I don't use craft ink very often but wanted all the colors. They are quicker to dry out so you have to ink them more often (because they are so small) but they are well worth the money.
They are also easy to store...you don't need a lot of room.

I'm a spots girl... the only full-size pads I have are the In Color ones, and that's because they don't make the spots in those colors! I'm all about consolidation, and I get better coverage going pad-to-stamp instead of stamp-to-pad...could just be I'm challenged in that way, though

I love the CRAFT spots. I bought the reinkers for the 3 family craft spot sets. I have the Bold Brights in the full size pads but like the spots better. I do have all the full size classic inks and only one box of classic spots. The craft spots were definitely the best buy though.

I prefer the full size pads, they are easy to open after using a few times. I was debating about getting Craft spots for embossing, then learned a tip to first stamp in Versamark, then Classic/dye based ink. With clear embossing powder the result is colored embossing without having to purchase additional ink types or colored powder!

THey work as well as the big pads, but it does take a little longer, especially with large stamps. I have them, but have bought big pads for the colors I use most. It's a good way to have a color I might use once in a while.

Out of Curiosity, are the Spots a waterbased ink? Can I "watercolor" with them? I've always wanted some but didn't want to invest just in case.

Yes you can watercolor with them. They are the same as the large ink pads just in a small cube.

They are on the bottom right corner of the color family you are looking at. They only sell them as a set of 12. $22.50 for the classic ink and $25.95 for the craft ink. HTH

I bought the spots in the Rich Regals. I like having all the colors, but the spots are definately small. I wish they were the size of the Momento dew drops. I would definately have them all by now if they were that size!
By the way, I was thinking I read that you shouldn't store the spots upside down because they might leak. Does anyone know? I've been soring them right side up for about 6 months now. I hope they haven't dried out!

Default Love them

I love the spots for their portability. I'm on a three month work assignment out of town. I can't imagine not stamping for three months so I bought all four color families of spots. They are great. I have all the full size classic pads at home but not the craft inks. Now I'm thinking of getting all the craft inks in spots. Takes up less room and I can save a lot of money.

I absolutely love my spots. You will not regret getting them. I too use them as described above . . .I dab the ink onto my stamp . . its easy to check for even coverage. I find its easier to get good coverage with the spot than the full size pad because the middles dont cave in.

I LOVE my spots. I have both craft & classic in all the SU colors. I like the craft for embossing and background stamps and the classic for all else. I have most of the full sized pads but rarely use them. I even bought empty spots & filled them with the In-colors & neutrals. Reinkers are a must, tho. They due need to be reinked more due to the small size.
