CarpeDiem Store.com
I placed an order last week for Copic markers. Waited for a confirmation that it shipped called twice with no response. Third call talked to someone. Thye have no Copics in stock at all. They are selling with no product on hand to fill orders.
What a scam.
Wouldn't be bad but I have a class Saturday and need them.
I and my friends have ordered Copics from them numerous times with NO issues. While I realize you're upset, I think your statement that it's a scam is incorrect. I'm sure they will work with you to resolve your issues. Try sending them an e-mail with your concerns.

I've heard rave reviews for the site, but every time I've tried to order, they've been out of the colors I want (or they're out of 90% of the colors I want and I'd have to pay high shipping to get the few they have in stock). I don't think it's a scam, I just think they keep a low inventory and I always catch them at a bad time.

The exact words from the girl on the phone are we DO NOT stock Copics we take orders then we order. That is why it takes a week or so to get your order.
As a business owner I know that this is not a legitimate business practice.
With respect, just a bit of advice. What you are describing does not really fit the definition of "scam." That is a pretty strong word to use on a public forum for what may have occurred. It's really not too cool to defame a business that seems to have a good reputation.
This sometimes happens in real life also. Who hasn't read a newspaper ad and dashed to the store to find out they don't have stock on hand?
Give them a chance to get your products to you.

I wonder if you talked to someone who was new or something. Their website does say they are having an inventory reduction sale on Ciaos but it does say it keeps the other markers in stock. I have ordered from these folks before and had no problem. Hope it works out for you.
I just ordered 14 markers (and since I have most of them, I need very specific colors to round out my collection) from oozak. They had most everything in stock and they shipped the NEXT day via priority mail. I'll have them on Wedsnesday. Rusty is a treat to work with too.
But I've ordered from carpe diem store plenty of times too and had very reasonable service. It takes about a week for me to get my markers, but a good chunk of that is Fed Ex ground getting them to me in VA from CA. I only order Sketch markers and they seem to keep a good inventory of those. Did you order Ciao markers? I think they are clearancing those.
Sorry for your troubles. :(
ETA: I think there was a lady on one of my forums who actually went to the brick and mortar store and was oohing and ahhhhing over the vast stock of Copics. How can they not have them in stock? I'm really confused.
I'm sorry you are having issues with them Suzi. I am another happy customer of theirs, I have placed 3 rather large orders and received all about a week later. Good luck!
I'm more of a lurker on this board then a poster, but I just wanted to comment on this thread. I have dealt three different times with CarpeDiem with orders for Copics and I never had any issues. I also am in Virginia and it took a week to get to me. The shipping time is standard, so I can't fault them for that. All orders were consisting of at least 40 copics at a time.
I actually am just getting ready to place an order with a friend for more. I hope you get your product soon.
I just got 33 new Sketch markers from them and it took about 10 days. It sounds like whoever you talked to on the phone really did not know what they were talking about. Sorry for your troubles because I know how irritating that can be.
I personally am a skeptic as I know they violate Copic's policies, however I am biased as I compete against them. But several months ago Copic came down hard on all their retailers about pricing, told us we could not sell below 4.87 for sketches and everyone complied but carpediem. Retailers were told that if they did not comply they would not receive any further orders. So who knows what is going on at this point. It just irks me to no end that I cannot sell for less, but that this store continues to violate manufacture policy and gets away with it.

I have ordered from them at least 4-5 times and never once had a problem with rec'v my orders. I live in the next state over from them and I usually get my package within 3-4 days so if you live furhter then the next state over I's imagine it take a bit longer. So far I am very pleased with them.
Price Fixing Price fixing is an agreement among competitors to raise, fix, or otherwise maintain the price at which their goods or services are sold. It is not necessary that the competitors agree to charge exactly the same price, or that every competitor in a given industry join the conspiracy. Price fixing can take many forms, and any agreement that restricts price competition violates the law. Other examples of price-fixing agreements include those to:
Establish or adhere to price discounts.
Hold prices firm.
Eliminate or reduce discounts.
Adopt a standard formula for computing prices.
Maintain certain price differentials between different types, sizes, or quantities of products.
Adhere to a minimum fee or price schedule.
Fix credit terms.
Not advertise prices.
In many cases, participants in a price-fixing conspiracy also establish some type of policing mechanism to make sure that everyone adheres to the agreement.
I ordered last week from Carpe Diem and it was a large order. When I saw that my order has not shipped, I emailed them yesterday. They told me that they are expecting a large order of Copic markers in this week and would ship my order as soon as they get them. The thing is that they charged my credit card last week. I don't think they should charge until they ship. I probably won't order from them again!
I am not liking this thread. i ordered from them last thursday. it has been a week now. i been checking the website everyday and it still says Processing. I read the shipping thing and is says orders would be processed in 3-5 buisness days. so you would think my order would at least be done processing. I was a $300 order too. I don't know if i will order from them again and am just anxious to get my markers.
I have never had problems getting my copics from Carpe Diem Store, and they are always shipped immediately. If they don't stock them, then their policies have changed. In fact, about 4 months ago, I purchased 2 sets from them and had no problems.
No, I think they dodge the "price fixing" aspect by telling you it is MAP (Minimum advertised pricing) So you can sell for less but not advertise it. They consider internet stores' prices as advertised pricing since the general public can view the pricing. There are a couple of other craft companies with similiar policies that I have dealt with. I am not happy about it, but complied, as did most everyone else.
This really surprises me as I have ordered all 200 or so of my markers from them with my most recent order being a month ago and I have always received my order within a week never longer and usually within 3 or 4 days. I would call back because that just seems odd. They have always had everything in stock.
Well, it sounds like we all got our taxes back and we all ordered COPICS. I know I have a very extensive order. I finished my mediocre collection to ALL OF THEM. They are probably up to their eyeballs with orders. Have always ordered from them! I just figured since I had such a large order, I needed to be patient.
I have ordered from them many times ~ They have been great. I hope you work out your differences, they have always responded via email with no issues. I find this retailer a 5 star thus far!
I cancelled my order and ordered from Oozak. I actually saved money because I was paying shipping on a Copic holder and Rusty even called me on the phone and suggested a different model that would hold more markers and was the same price as the one I ordered and he shipped my order today. I think that is good customer service. At least his website tells when something is out of stock. FYI....they got an order of markers today for anyone that would like to order.
Carpediem.com has ridiculously high shipping charges! I order from www.copicmarkers.com and I have always received my order within days, unless something I ordered was marked as out of stock on their website. They will either hold the order till all of your order is in, or ship what they have and send the rest later, your choice. Their shipping is really reasonable, too. I just looked and they have the Sketch markers for $4.87 each.
I just checked the order I placed on Jan. 31st and it's been shipped. I've ordered from them before as well, and not had problems. It takes a little longer than Oozak, but not longer than 7-10 days.
I also placed an order on Jan. 31st ( over $100 in Sketch copics to get free shipping ) as that was the deal they were offering. I checked the web site every other day and my order always said "processing". Today ( Feb. 5th) I checked and it said shipped! Also received email notification about an hour ago with a tracking number.
So, it took five days to ship after placing the order; and it's coming from CA and I'm in NC so the expected delivery date according to tracking information is Feb. 10. Not too bad all in all.
FINALLY. i placed my order on 1/28. yesterday said processing. today finally says shipped. it is about time. maybe the OP was right and that they were just waiting for a shippment. though i haven't gotten a email yet with tracting number
In all fairness, this is not the time of year to order and expect everyone to have everything you want. From working in library ordering I know that retailers start gearing up for the holidays in October. Afterwards, their warehouses are depleted and it takes a month or two just to get things back up to stock again. No matter who you use, give them a little margin in January.
Personally, I have also had mixed success ordering from CarpeDiem but it was because they charged my credit card days before the order was shipped. I emailed and got a plausible explanation but it rankled me because nobody else I deal with does that. After that I always use Oozak because they show what's in stock, ship fairly fast, keep you apprised of where your order is. And the shipping is cheaper.
I have spent about $600.00 at Carpe Diem and I just received my recent order. Either I or Carpe Diem made 6 mistakes. I can understand maybe one mistake, but 6. Either way, I now have duplicates of these and I tried to work this out with Carpe Diem. This is their response...I am not happy. But, I'm sure I can sell these to some good friends, but that is not the point. Therefore, I will not purchase from Carpe Diem ever again.
Response: Hi Sheila,
Thank you for supporting our online store. We value you and would like to keep you as our long term customer but we can't change our refund policy. If we do it for you we would have to do it for everyone else. The reason we don't take any markers back is because we can't resell them, we only sell brand new markers.
We scan every item in our customers order, so there is no way that we could have send you the wrong marker, our system wouldn't allow it. After we scan the markers we double check before packing them in their boxes. We checked your order and some of the markers you said we send you were not in your order. If you have any other questions or concerns please let us know.

Can you check your online order to see if you ordered two instead of 1? I have accidentally ordered dups from carpe diem myself but since then I always tripple check the order before I hit the send button. I understand your upset because they wont work with you and exchange them, I've been there. just playing devils advocate, I would not like to recieve markers I paid for that were in someone elses hands. So I can understand their policy.

Was this the first time you had ordered from them? I had a slower return on my first order, but after that one, it's been very much quicker!

Wow, I'm really sorry some people seem to have problems wiht this company. I've ordered from them serveral times (just placed my fifth order) and have never had any issues. My order always arrives in about 3 to 5 days via ground (depends on whether I place my order over the weekend), but then I am also close by on the west side of the US. My very first time ordering I did not recieve a shipping notice with tracking info, but I've gotten them every time since then. I always appreciate tracking service which is why I get annoyed by companies that only offer USPS priority.
i order my copics from creativeplaystamps.com. they have a lot of products......spellbinders, paper, etc. and free shipping for orders of 50.00 or more. i think their copics are still 4.87. also you can sign up for their monthly newsletter that has coupons....for example, sometimes you get 10% off your entire order.
I had a very bad experience with them as well and when I posted it on SCS people bit my head off. I personally have chosen to take my Copic business elsewhere. Just so that you know, you are not alone.

I wondered if that was the issue as well. Where I work, we have an exclusive territory for a product, and we have a MAP to protect the integrity of the product and us...the small, locally owned business. Kind of the reverse of what happened with Provo Craft and WalMart. After they went to big box stores, who would pay full price at their LSS for a Cricut??
