I live in upstate New York with my husband and two cats. I love cardmaking using stamps and anything else I can get my hands on. I love learning new stuff and I'm really excited about being in this forum. I've never participated in a forum before so I hope I don't mess up too bad. :p
I have actually been to your town! A college pal lived there (grew up there) and went for a week many, many years ago. Her family has since moved, as has she, but it was such a nice place! Enjoy SCS!
Wow - signed in to browse forums and saw Olean, NY - what memories! I went to Houghton and visited Olean a bunch - we even studied at St. Bonaventure's library! Is the Old Library restaurant still open? That was a special place - had graduation dinner there and a few other special meals. Of course, that was back in 1983-85 but it still ranks as one of my favorites!
Thanks for going down memory lane with me! Welcome to SCS - you'll love all the resources and friendships!

Welcome to SCS from another western NYer! I am from Warsaw!
My niece is a nurse at Warsaw Hospital. I am very familiar with the area too because I grew up near Letchworth Park. Glad to hear from a familiar place. Thanks for the welcome!

It's nice to know you have been here. It makes me feel a little less small in this giant forum of fun. Take care!

What a nice surprise. The Old Library restaurant is still open and going strong. I've been through Houghton many times as well. It's surprising how many people I have just met who know Olean. Thanks for your warm welcome to SCS.

I'm quoting my friend Gayla because she pretty much said what I would have said (except I am welcoming you from Dutchess County!) I've been lucky enoigh to have been able to travel "far and wide" to stamp with lots of awesome SCSers and have made some "real faux" friendships.

I've been meeting so many nice people since I've joined SCS. I'm not sure where Dutchess County is so I'll have to look it up. I think it's great you have been able to meet so many fellow stampers. It sounds like lots of fun!
Bye

Very roughly speaking (I'd not have met many of my friends if I was better at using maps) Dutchess County is a few counties north of The Bronx (Bronx, Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess). It's a about 200 miles south(ish) of Syracuse.
Definitely fun meeting fellow stampers in person - even better is that so many have become friends. And sometimes they don't live too far away (Hi Heidi!).
I'm logging off soon because DH and I are going to pig out at a Chinese Buffet and then go see Sherlock Holmes.
My sister went to Bonnies so I most certainly know where Olean is...of course that was a lifetime ago.... =) You will love being on here and this website...everyone is very nice and also friendly!!! Be sure to jump right in and have fun!!!
Cathy =-)

It has been awhile since I have been there. We went there a couple of years ago for a training seminar for work. I remember it being a nice drive and we stopped at Cuba cheese on our way home.

I'm surprised there are so many SPS who know where Olean is! Everything is a livetime ago for me. Nice to meet you. Take care...

Okay I've got the general vicinity of where you live now. The chinese buffet sounds good. I really want to see Sherlock Holmes. I'm betting it will be great. Have fun!

Yeah, it's a bit of a drive from Warsaw to here. The Cuba cheese shop is still there. I like their yummy cheeses.

We enjoyed ourselves ... there was actually a line to get seated at the buffet (but definitely worthwhile ... especially the pepper steak ... so tender!)
I liked Sherlock Holmes but I think the overall reception was lukewarm (most of the other people in the theater were probably 60+ and possibly expected a more traditional Holmes movie instead of one that featured boxing/martial arts in several scenes.) I'm glad we went but it could have also been put on the Netflix list, kwim (a night out is always worthwhile!)

Thanks for the heads up on Sherlock Holmes. I'll wait for the rental. At least you had a great meal.
Hi from the Southern Tier!! I am right down the road from you. I live in Cohocton. The bank that I work for has it's main headquarters in Olean.
Welcome to SCS. You should consider going to some gatherings. They are so much fun. Meet A LOT of great ladies.
Again....welcome

Wow you have triplets! I bet they are cute. If I get brave enough I might venture out to some gatherings. Thanks for welcoming me into SPS.
Take care,
Lorraine
Warsaw - another hometown of a college friend I visited.
I'm starting to think I really made the rounds of upstate towns. Not bad for a Long Island girl, lol!!
Oops. I'm sorry I sent this message to you in error. I'll redirect. I thouht I was sending it to the gal from Warsaw. I guess you can tell I've never been in a forum before. But it's good to talk to you again!

It's me again. I just realized you were sending a "new" note saying you had been to Warsaw also. Forgive me I'm going in circles.
Who did you visit? Chances are if I don't know them, my DH does since he grew up in here and currently teaches at the school.
I am killing myself trying to rememebr the last name, but her name is Heather. She had an older sister (she was my age, so would have been in the HS from 1982-1986-ish), lived with their Mom. Her sister got married in 1987 or 1988, I went for the wedding. Heather & I went to Long Island University, if that helps. She was likely marine bio, mos tpeorple were. It's been a very long time so I can't remember exactly.
Her last name is *right here* on the tip of my tongue!!
Bennet maybe??
