Just saw the sign this morning...the Joe's on Eagle Road that is going out of business now says: coming soon HOBBY LOBBY!!!
Sweet Mother of God - a HOBBY LOBBY right up the street from me!!!
Wooooooooooooooooo - - this is the first one in Idaho - - see you at the grand opening (whenever that is).
Oh Congratulations!!! I am sooo happy for you....
We finally got one here in NY (buffalo) about a year ago..and I have to say, we stalked the location for weeks...It is my new favorite store..no mind you I have a joanns michaels and acmoore about 4 minutes away, but I will drive the 20 to go to hobby lobby hands down..
Now if we could just get an archivers..It doesnt have to be in buffalo, but the closest one is in ohio 4 hours away...thinking road trip for now.
Have Fun
Congratulations! Now - get on their email list so you'll have coupons when they open. <wink> It takes a new store a little while to have a clearance section .... but watch for it. One should crop in within a few weeks of opening.
I live about an hour away in Oregon, so Boise is my shopping grounds. I had a chance to visit a HL in Billings, MT last year and I dropped major $$$ there.
Since you live nearby the new ID location, would you lease keep us updated on when they have their quiet opening?

I'm excited for you! Maybe they will make the jump to Coeur d'Alene! Yeah I doubt it. I'm so sick of Michaels and Joanns never having anything new. I don't even go in those stores anymore. Just not worth it.
yep, right down the street from me, i am SO excited! i feel bad for the folks at craft warehouse though. the location is so close, that it's got to hurt them!
i've never been to a HL but i heard the crafting angels singing when i was reading the headlines, so it HAS to be a happenin' place!
I'm sharing your excitement because my area will be getting a HL when they open the Poughkeepsie, NY store (I think in Spetember). And, especially lucky for me I am actually moving closer to where it will be!
Michelle, have you driven by the yet-to-be-opened store and see if there has been activity inside? I was hoping they would be speedy and get that sucker loaded and ready to open by the 4th of July. Hope springs eternal, as the saying goes! :-D
Oh no....there goes my budget.... I'm by Portland, Oregon but heck, that's only about 7 hrs away..... a long drive but worth it for Hobby Lobby. Please give updates on how it's coming along......
I had some shopping to do this morning at the Kohl's on Eagle Rd. just a few doors down from the new Hobby Lobby and did my heart skip a beat! The new building is completely up and the inside appears to be finished. Unfortunately, they have yet to install the shelves and the wonderful new products, but that would seem to be in the very new future. They had stated a spring opening, but it seems to be a possibility it could happen sooner. I had spoken with a lady in the HL corporate offices and she says they are looking to open upwards of 6 to 8 new stores in Idaho. Perhaps Oregon and Washington are not far behind.
I will post any information as to an opening date when I hear something, but until then.......
I did visit a HL in the Denver area back in Oct. while visiting my son and what a thrill! I mean the store, but my son's a thrill too. HA
wooooooooohoooooooooooooo..... what a wonderful Crafters Christmas present this news is. I'm in OR but will drive over to check it out when it finally get's opened.... Thanx for the heads up.
We relocated from Kansas, where HL is BIG, in 1994 to Whidbey Island in Washington and I more or less hounded the HL folks to come to the Pacific NW. Michael's was about all that was available and I've never been terribly impressed with their stores. When we moved to Idaho I found the closest HL was Salt Lake City, still too far. I can't describe the elation I felt when the corporate folks at HL informed me of the Meridian store and that they were looking to open 6 to 8 stores in the state of Idaho. It will likely still be years before they venture into Portland or Seattle, although I think they would do well there.
I must add here that I truly do enjoy the vast selection available at Hobby Lobby, but it is additionally pleasant to know they are run by christian people. That may be insignificant to many of you, but not to me and my family. I too have noticed the announcement on the doors to any of their stores stating they are closed on Sundays to give their employees the opportunity to worship and the playing of christian songs in the stores is comforting.
This decidedly irritates some folks, but that is sad because things will get so much worse for non-believers....one day.
I was introduced to HL in Alabama when I was there visiting friends and it was so fun. There was a Michaels a few miles away but I preferred the HL store. Very friendly clerks and the lines were never too long. Course that was in the summer....smiles. So I'll make the long drive over to Idaho to get some of their treasures. They had paper I can't find up here. Merry Christmas everyone!!
OH my goodness you lucky girl...I sure hope they bring one or two to Las Vegas...I love HL and always visit one when I go to Texas and to Florida.
blessings.
OMG...I can only hope that the old Joe's store close to me, that recently closed will become a Hobby Lobby. Maybe there is a way I can suggest it through their website. We do have a Michaels but variety is always good

I'm not certain, but I wonder if HL prefers to build their own buildings. There was a vacant Joe's next door to the site on which they built the Meridian store and was vacant for a while. Granted, the Joe's store was 3,000 sq. ft. smaller than what they typically build, but it would have worked. At least for me! The vacant Joe's at Marketplace would also seem to be a good fit and location. (Across the street from a Michael's....HA)

I wondered about that as well. However, considering that Joes went kapoot the building (and leases) may have been tangled up in bankruptcy court at the time that Hobby Lobby was needing to make a decision on store location. Timing is everything in retail and if a property is not fully available when needed it is not even considered. Just a thought on why they may have decided to go the route of building instead...

They actually brought in a pre-fab.the store went up literally overnight. The name is now on the storefrontand also on the kiosk at the shopping center. They are opening in February. I already registered online to get their e-coupons, so Ill be ready with coupon in-hand on day one!
Be still my heart.... lol..... Gotta get the snow to melt early on the pass so I can drive over....hehehe..... And I'm gonna head over and register online like Michelle so I'll be prepared, when I finally get over there...... Just need to get them a little further West....
Hi. Yes, I saw somewhere they are opening Feb 1st too. But if they don't have their shelves up yet, I doubt that will happen. I will have to drive by and peek in the windows. I would love to work there....
MsCookie and all you far away Hobby Lobby shoppers! Pack your bags! I got an email today from the HL corporate office and amarie is right on the nose on the opening date. It is Feb. 1st. Yippee! See some of you there!!!! Oh baby, only 2 and a half weeks away. Good bye paycheck....ha.
it's probably a mile from my house. i'm chompin' at the bit! i drove down eagle road the other night, and i could SEE stuff in the store! i was running late, so i didn't have time to go peer in the windows, but boy howdy, i wanted to! maybe i'll go take a peek tonight!
I too drove by....very slowly....and could see they are stocking shelves. It looks like the Feb. 1st date may be on target. Does that mean I was stalking the Hobby Lobby? Oh my.
Go ahead and stalk it! When our newest one opened - they actually let customers in a few days ahead of the "grand opening."
Well - you all know how riotous and violent crafters are! <laugh> They opened 1 register and 90% of the staff was stocking shelves - AND welcoming their new customers.
I got an email today from a lady with a new stamp store.....I'll pass it on to all of you.
Below is the message I got..........
