TLC41 - You Crack Me Up!
TLC41 - Cracked Glass
This week's TLC is Cracked Glass.
Here's mine to see what I'm talking about!
Gallery at Splitcoaststampers
To do it:
Stamp the image and color as desired.
Apply Versamark to the entire surface of the stamped layer by pressing the whole pad down on the cardstock.
Sprinkle with Glassy Glaze or UTEE (Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel). If you don't have either of these, use regular clear embossing powder.
Heat to melt the powder.
Repeat the steps to apply 2-3 layers of the Glassy Glaze. If you are using regular EP, you will want to repeat 4-5 times. You want a pretty thick layer of EP on your image.
Place the image in the freezer for 10 minutes or so. Freezing it will allow the EP to crack. After the time is up, take it out of the freezer and start bending the cardstock. Don't be shy...it takes a bit more oomph than I expected to get it to crack.
If desired, you can smear a dark color of ink on top of the cracked image and wipe off the excess with a tissue. The ink will settle into the cracks, highlighting them.
As always, if you have questions, please ask. If you have suggestions, please share!
When you upload, please put TLC41 in the keyword section when you upload, and then post a link to your card here in this thread.
If you need help uploading or posting a link to this thread, check out this link:
Forums at Splitcoaststampers
If you are new to the challenges, please feel free to do this one or ANY of the challenges at any time. There is no time limit. They are not races to see who can do one first, nor are they contests of any sort. All the challenges are simply to provide inspiration and to get us STAMPIN' !!

Making a packet of thank you cards as a gift for my older daughter so decided to try this first thing this morning. Love the technique although I think I ruined it by rubbing Elegant Eggplant after I cracked it because it turned the background kind of pink and no matter how hard I rubbed to get it off it was a done deal. Thanks, Beth - I'll use this technique again. Oh, and thank you for telling what UTEE stands for - always wondered. I used 5 layers of regular clear ep. Sue

I've always wanted to play when the challenges are posted, but never seem to have the time! Conveniently, I already had a card scanned with this technique - and it's my new favorite thing to do! (And TOTALLY impresses people, which is a nice perk...)

Here's a simple little one. I used cardboard and I need to let it sit in the freezer longer. It did crack a little! I should have put it outside! Brrrrrr

I love this technique! Here's an old thread with some tips that might be helpful
Forums at Splitcoaststampers
I did cracked glass in a tecnique class and I took a shobox lid and covered it with brown packing paper from an SU box and we used that to do our embossing to help keep the UTEE contained. It can really get alll over the place.
Here's a card I uploaded last week
Gallery at Splitcoaststampers
I hope I have some time to play later this week. Thanks Beth!

I'm fairly new to posting pics on here, but I "played" with posting some of my work on here yesterday...so I will try this technique and post later today as well. I've tried this technique once for a class that I had and they seemed to love it!! It's been a year...so it'll be fun to do another one! I'll look for the first one I did and post that one as well! FUN!!

Here's one I did this week and sent to Jovi.
