I use prisma colored pencils and they work really well. You can get some blending with the crayola, but it isn't as good as it is with the prismas.

Here is a link to read about Prismas. You can sometimes find them cheaper on ebay, or use a coupon at Michaels:

I found a set of 24, which is the most they have in a set, at Michaels, and used a coupon.

The prisma colored pencils have a higher wax content.

I think the Kohl A Noir work even better than the prismacolor. I got mine from Gina K (she's a member company here)

I use prisma pencils and actually some rose art ones, with babyoil.
I like the flesh colored ones and mix them with the peach for skin tones and blend, works good for me.

Prisma's here.
Now and then Office Depot has sets of Prisma's for sale at super low prices. Also - Aaron Brothers periodically has them for 50% off. (That's where I got mine.)

I use crayola mostly and kooh-i-nor if I remember to take them out. I haven't used prisma colouring pencils so I can't speak to the quality but I'm sure they blend very well if they are anything like the kooh-i-nor. I think I get pretty good results with the crayola pencil crayons and they're really reasonably priced. Here's a couple cards I did with crayolas and oms.:

Thank you very much. I know there are some with differing opinions, but I don't think you have to have expensive toys to make your projects look good. But you do have to know how to use them. I think the crayola pencil crayons are great and I got a set of 120 for about $6Cdn at Walmart. I also have some RoseArt artist grade that are nice to work with as well (again from Walmart for about $5 for 24)

I use EcoHouse products....they are not as strong as regular OMS, are theoretically eco-friendly (as eco friendly as paint thinner can get!) and they smell like oranges They carry it at Blicks.

You could also use unscented baby oil. I haven't tried it, but a lot of people on here use baby oil instead of oms.

I used crayola colored pencils for a long time with GooGone, and they worked fine. Now I have KohiNoor and Prismas, and the ease in blending is obvious, but I still use the crayolas when I dont want to drag out my prisma tin and find space to set it while coloring. I just bought some baby oil and I'm going to try blending with it since all toxic fumes are prohibited right now.
Cat_Woman, your coloring is beautiful.

My husband bought me a 132 pencil set of Prismacolors that I use with Turpenoid (OMS) and I LOVE them. They're so smooth to work with. He bought them here:
http://www.jerrysartarama.com/discou...encil-Sets.htm
I went to the website and I see that they're having a sale right now of up to 50% off their sets. If you're in the market for some, you may try them. (I got them very quickly, too!)

I got the largest set of Prisma colored pencils for $52.00 including shipping on Ebay. They were brand new in package (set of 120) and when I sharpened them NONE of the leads were broke. I was very happy with the purchase. I see many more like sets listed. I then purchased the add on 12 colors for just a few bucks on ebay also. All of them came in nice tins.
blessings.
