RenegadeCards, I was also a fan of dot rollers and used the Herma Dotto for a long time. If you're concerned about goop, remove the round piece with the little cube on it. I never had a probably with goop after that small piece was removed.
The said, I found the refills just too costly. I bought an ATG last month and it's the best thing I ever did for my paper crafting. The gun itself is an investment, but the adhesive is DIRT CHEAP compared to other stuff that's out there. It is a glue runner, not a dot runner, but I'm much happier (as is my wallet).
Just my two cents.
Sorry about your favorite being discontinued. It always feels like losing an old friend when a favorite product is suddenly gone.
I purchased the Glue-Glider and HATE IT! What am I doing wrong. No matter what I do it either pulls some of the stickies off the wheel or it moves crookedly. HELP!

I read that ad tech was reformulated and so much better than the old stuff. I came across some at BIg Lots and gave it a try for $1 an 8 yd runner. I love it! Then I picked up refills at walmart, and It's not the same stuff. The BL must be the old stuff, but I like it so much better. The WM stuff fell apart! I do lots of craft show stuff that is packed and unpacked and I NEED a sturdy glue! I just went to BL and cleaned them out. $150 worth of Ad Tech! lol. I figure it must be the old style so when it's gone, it's gone, and I don't want to be without. I will have to try the dots. Hope they hold better. Thanks for sharing ladies!
I use AdTech bought from a northern Canadian Wal-Mart and I like it. I find the dot runner version doesn't hold as good as the glue runner for me. When I use the dot runner it falls apart, but the glue runner doesn't. I'm not cheap with it though either; I don't just put a tiny dot in each corner. If I screw up and need to remove something I glued down, I either can't get it off or I damage it getting it off. I am so confident with it's holding ability, I use it on scrapbook pages too.
BTW, I also love using CTMH's liquid glass for small stuff like letters or things like buttons. It holds really well, dries fast, is easy to apply, and and way cheaper than glue dots (which I only use when either of the above isn't practical or possible).
Good luck in your quest.
Kokuyo Dot 'n Roller has always been my fave and I'm bummed they have discontinued it. I hope that it is true that someone else will pick it up and keep the formula the same as it is the best.
I buy my acid-free ATG tape at findtape.com. I like it better than the Scotch brand, and it's less than 1/2 cost of the Scotch. A group of crafters & I went in on a case and we all like the findtape quality.
My only complaint with findtape is the shipping cost. The minimum seems to be around $8 (I've never ordered less than 12 rolls), so place as large an order as you can. I ordered 3 cases of hockey tape with 24 rolls of ATG a while back. The 24 rolls of ATG would have been $8 to ship, but adding 3 CASES of hockey tape (heavy fabric tape) only bumped the shipping to $10. Definitely worth adding the hockey tape!

I hate having my cards fall apart! I started using Zip Dry and it is completely amazing. I never thought I'd like a liquid glue for papercrafting, but this stuff is great - no warping, bleeding through, and it's got a super strong bond that dries very quickly. It's just about the only adhesive I use these days!

I've heard that and just recieved my TAC order which includes my first bottle ... if I get to craft today I plan to try it but right now I have to do Christmas, Baby Shower and grocery shopping.
Another vote for the ATG... I almost went with the Glue Glider Pro, but when I think of the cost and the fact that each time that large cassette type thing of plastic is being added the landfill... I thought I'd try to "go green".
The ATG is temperamental at times, but overall, it's a good option.
I've used Scotch double-sided tape for my cards for years, and I've never had anything fall apart.

I did the Christmas Card Challenge last year and the first 30 cards I made in the beginning of the year fell apart by November using the Tombow. I ended up using the Scotch Double Sided Tape too! And boy, NOTHING comes apart once that stuff is used! LOL! Our church group that makes cards each month uses nothing but the Scotch tape also! A little of that goes a long way!
I was a firm ad tech from walmart user until I found cards I had given a friend a year ago and when I picked them up to pack them up for her a large percentage of stuff fell off ans did some parts of layouts I had too transfer from one scrap book to another...
You can also get Kokuyo adhesives online at jetpens.com. They carry the new version called the Dot Liner in both the roller and a stamp applicator. When I purchased them a few months ago, they were running low on stock, but they have a link where you can sign up for restock notification emails.
p.s. They also have the Uniball Signo White gel pens that we all love.
