I'm planning to buy some of the individual markers from SU during SAB. I'm hoping to come up with a well-rounded assortment. I'm looking for your opinions of which colors you use the most often, which are your favorite, and which ones you never use (so I can stay away!)! Thanks for your help!
I think it would depend on your style. What colors cardstock do you use the most?
I use Real Red, Certainly Celery and Close to Cocoa markers the most.
I rarely use the other brights like yoyo, orange or glorious green.
Would you be using them to color in images or to color directly on stamps? To color in images, I think the lighter colors look better...it really depends on your style. Good luck.
It really does depend on your style ... if you plan to color a lot of flower images you'll probably want pinks, reds, yellows and greens (in which case I'd recommend Regal Rose, Rose Red, So Saffron, More Mustard, Certainly Celery and Old Olive).
If you plan to use the markers for inking sentiments I would choose darker colors that coordinate with the colors you use most (i.e. Elegant Eggplant if you use lots of pink and purple). I think Chocoalte Chip and Night of Navy are good basic colors that go well with most (if not all) of the other SU colors.
I tend to agree with the previous posters. I would get at least 6 markers in your 'most used' cardstock colors, so you will have a variety to play with.

Oh forgot, the colors to stay away from. I personally do not use many blue markers but then again I don't use too many of the blue CS (although I love Taken with Teal and Bermuda Bay).

Chocolate Chip...my hands down fav. But I have the whole set that I got through a marker club or wouldn't have hardly any. I use mine ALL the time.
My favorite colors of paper/ink come from all the families...Night of Navy and Elegant Eggplant from Rich Regals, Choc. Chip, Cocoa and Not Quite Navy from Earth Elements, Real Red and Yo Yo from Bold Brights and Celery, Pretty in PInk, Almost Amethyst from Soft Subtles.
You probably have your favorite color combos too...go with those.

After 5+ years, I've finally worn out the tips my real red and basic black so I guess those two are mine. The markers are still juicy but they don't color on cardstock as well as they used to. They're still fine on stamps.
I would have to say, for me, hands down, Real Red, Old Olive, Chocolate Chip, Always Artichoke, Regal Rose and Rose Red are my most used. And not for coloring in images but, to color stamps.
I did just pick up Basic Black and Sahara Sand with SAB now. HTH!
Old olive gets the most use for me.. I use it all the time! I also really like Regal Rose and Real Red. I don't use my markers much.. mostly for coloring directly on stamps-- but those definitely are the ones that get a lot of use!
But another poster had an excellent idea.. take your 6 most used sheets of colored CS, and buy those colors. You can't go wrong that way.

My thoughts exactly!

Yes, I use mine to color stamps...a lot. Every so often for coloring an image. I don't have copics, but get by with the SU markers or watercolor pencils. I don't have a lot of good images for coloring.

I use my markers a lot for direct to stamp coloring. And I guess I tend to do that mostly with trees and floral patterns. So the browns (choc chip, close to cocoa) and the greens (Old Olive, certainly Celery, Always artichoke) get used tons. Then the pinks/purples/blues for the flowers.
I bought the entire set and don't regret it for even a second. Even if I don't use all the colors all the time, it's a really easy way to take all of the SU inks to a crop.
Real Red, Handsome Hunter - for Christmas & leaves/stems
Night of Navy - also for winter cards - especially sentiments inside
Chocolate Chip, Close to Cocoa & Basic Black - for sentiments and I make a lot of dog themed cards
I love love love my SU ! Markers.. I do use them all; but the ones I use the most are the Earth Elements.
The only time I use the Bold Brights is when I am making a vibrant child's card. I believe its a matter of preference in your color likes and dislikes..but would suggest buying a color family of both the markers and the papers!

You might consider an entire color family, like Earth Elements. That way you get a bunch of colors that go together, and the case. I did buy a few individual markers before I bought the sets, and I don't ever use them.
The only time I ever use my SU markers is to color directly on the rubber. For that reason the ones I use most are the greens, reds, and pinks since I love florals.
