MD Eastern Shore SBS~ March 14th Sign ups Close Fri March 5th!!
Our first Eastern Shore shoebox swap will be on Sunday, March 14, from 10:00 a.m. until we are done. Steph (paperprincess2) has graciously offered up her wonderful crafting garage for our event. She lives in Easton. Please pm for address and/or directions.
There is room for 20 people (13 years and older please) to attend with each person bringing a shoebox swap for 19 people to make and something to share for lunch. There is a $5 non-refundable charge per person for expenses such as paper products and door prizes which will be due to me prior to the swap. Once you sign up, I'll PM you my address to send your payment to. Everyone who signs up must have a SCS ID to make this fair for everyone attending.
We are not limiting this to cards. You may do cards, 3-D items or scrapbook page elements. Please bring enough supplies for everyone to make your item including all cardstock, stamps, inks, embellishments, tools, etc., along with your own adhesive and scissors to use on all the projects we make. Please make sure all of your supplies are labeled with either your name or initials, so we all go home with the stuff we brought. We'd like each person to have a sample and typed instructions in their box telling how to make your card, A list of products and what vendor they are from would also be nice and also have their swaps in baggies or envelopes containing everything each person needs to do your card. This really helps make the swap go more smoothly.
There are no vendor requirements but please use only high quality cardstock like SU! Or bazzil.
Please bring something to share for lunch. When you sign up for the swap, please post what you�ll bring for lunch.
There will be several door prizes throughout the day.
We will also be collecting cards to sell to raise money for the Diabetes Association so if you would like to donate any cards or card fronts they would be greatly appreciated! If you are a rep or sell cards yourself you are more then welcome to put a sticker or stamp on the back of the card to promote your business.
To sum up what you�ll need to bring � shoebox swap (no theme), something to share for lunch, and cards for the diabetes fundraiser if you'd like to donate any.
I am in Church on Sundays so if I come, it would be early afternoon when I could get there so I may have to sit this one out. I may stop by to check it out and visit!

Betsy - since I will be several hours late arriving, should I still create a shoebox with an easy project or just come to hang out?
Jaime if you want you can put your box together and give to Steph or I before hand. And if anyone leaves before you get there one of us can put their project together for you or get the supplies if there's nothing we don't have for it

WOW!!!! Congratulations on such a successful turn out. We could do a MAX of 24 people. I have done a little more consolidating to fit in a few more tables.
we were involved in an auto accident in Easton sun eve, among the van being totaled and other injuries, my left hand fingers are broken and being a lefty makes it a pain, there is no way I can think of tackling a project od this size for awhile. would love to participate if you do another one though.

What projects are people planning? I have not participated in a shoebox swap before, are they mostly cards?
I have participated in at least a dozen shoebox swaps in the last couple of years and most everyone does a card but once in a while someone will do a project like a little gift bag or something of that nature. I will be doing a card for this swap.

Oh my goodness! I'm so sorry to hear this, I hope none of the injuries were very serious and that you are all on the mend and feeling better soon!

For the projects, do you do all of the cutting, stamping and punching and just place all of the parts in the box or do you bring the punches and stamps and tools so that the person can do the work themselves?

The more you have cut and ready for the person the faster the card is to make. Also depends on how much you want to carry. Sometimes i will emboss for people because that is time consuming. Punching is easy and fast and sometimes i like to punch myself so you can center the image or whatever. It all depends on each individual hope this helps you.
Thanks for the tips! I like the idea of decorating a gift bag....I think I will try to create a project around a gift bag.
