I have to start by saying that I am super excited to be hosting the Technique Lover�s Challenge. I can�t say enough about the way that Lynn has handled this challenge. She has certainly brought us a ton of fun techniques over her reign as hostess. I have some mighty big shoes to fill, but I am hoping, with your help, I can do a pretty good job!
Today we are going to do some fun paper quilting!
There are two options for going about this�
Option 1:
Take a piece of cardstock slightly larger than a die cut you choose (i.e. label 8 nestie)
Draw a line across the center with a pencil (this will help you line them up).
Cut several pieces of coordinating patterned paper in 1 �� squares.
Starting in the center, adhere altering patterns to the cardstock.
When you have finished the center row, repeat with the upper and lower rows, offsetting the pieces as shown in the first diagram attached.
After you have covered your piece of cardstock with patterned paper, run it through your die cut (or you could punch, too!) and use the piece to finish your card.
Create a pattern with alternating pieces of designer paper and solid paper.
I did this one for my example.
Once I chose my pattern, I drew it on a 3 1/2 x 3 1/2" square of white paper, using a ruler. Then I cut several different patterns and solids of the designer paper and cut those into pieces to fit into my pattern. This was easily accomplished with a paper cutter.
I did a little research and you can find tons of quilt patterns online. Here is one site that has a good variety. You may even be able to save one to your computer, size it in a word doc and print it out!

ETA: I have attached a third pic to show how I started the pattern process. Maybe this will help if my instructions were not clear enough!
You can create any pattern your mind can conceive! I suggest you keep your base shape square though, as it will make it easier to line up your ��quilting pieces��.

Not exactly as you described, Holly - I'll be back in a while with one done more like your Option 1. But you totally inspired me to do a quilted card with this photo.
Holly, you have started off with a BANG!! It's going to be a FUN year...I can tell.
This WAS a challenge for me since I am not a fabric quilter and I know there is a lot of "design" that goes into one. It was a great deal of fun though. Lots of little pieces everywhere and lots of "trial & error" too! : ) I turned my "heart quilt" on the diagonal.

If you wanted to make an IMPRESSION for your first challenge, you did it already. I am a quilter and this is going to be great fun. I may not even follow your directions. Oops! Did I really say that. I'll be back later when I can get my mind to stop going in 12 different directions.
