I am making my annual new's day of shopping tomorrow!! Michael's puts all of their Christmas stuff at 90% off. They probably won't have much, but it's better than watching football all day!!
Anyway, I am thinking about buying a atg gun. I have no idea how much they cost or if it is worth it! Would appreciate any suggestions!!
Happy New Year!
MPkind
I'm sure you'd love the ATG, but I'm pretty sure you won't find it at Michael's. You best bet for one of those would be online. I'm not sure who is the best place these days, as I haven't had to purchase more refills in a long time.
I know there's tons of other stuff to play with, though, lol! Have fun!

Thanks for mentioning that Betsy as I forgot to say that too. I don't think Mike's carries it.

I just saw this on a site asking about a glue gun. Don't know if this is of any help or not-
"I have an ATG (which is similar) and love it. Sticks so much better than Tombow and is considerably cheaper, especially when you buy your refills in bulk. I buy mine from www.framingsupplies.com and usually buy 24+ at a time (12 in Scotch Gold for scrapbooking and 12-24 in regular Scotch for cardmaking)."

That's actually my post from another thread in this same section of this site. I've ordered from Framing Supplies for several years and always been extremely satisfied.

I bought a 3M (red tape gun) and love it. I then did a tape buy for all my friends through Tape Depot. One of my friends wanted a gun but couldn't afford the price of the 3M so I ordered her Tape Depot's version for half the cost. She loves it! Now when our group gets together we can fly through assembly!
Actually I just do an over all search for ATG Gun on ebay and purchase from whoever is cheapest. As long as it's new and the seller has a good rating I'll buy. I purchase my refills the same way. I have been very satisfied with my product, price, and shipping.
Well I am in Uk but I have just bought an ATG 700 for 9.24 YES 9.24 and free delivery, It arrived Christmas Eve and only orderded it 2 days before. Now the website is 3MSelect .co .uk I dont know if they would charge delivery to US but at that price even with delivery its good. Some places are charging a small fortune for them. There replacement adhesive was only 2.11 but out of stock, so got some on the web for 1.95 each. Sorry dont know US equivallent.Gill
Does it look like they have the gun and 6 rolls of tape for $41.83? Under 'details' it mentions the applicator, but under 'specs' it mentions 1/4 in wide rolls--any thoughts on this would be appreciated. (Maybe I'm just having a moment of wishful thinking that it would be a package deal...)
And, is anyone familiar with this company ie, have you ordered from them, how was their customer service, etc?

WOW! that's an incredible deal.
I have to admit my ATG is one thing I didn't get a deal on because I decided I would save more in the long run and needed it when I got it.
That said I had the back of my van filled with three ladies shopping from the 75% off sales this morning! so I guess it all shakes out in the end!

I think the ad/page is pretty confusing. Looks to me like the dispenser gun is $41.83, but the description talks about tape, 6 in a package. I clicked all over the website and couldn't figure it out. If it is a gun AND 6 rolls of tape, that would be a very cheap price.
I just ordered a package deal with 2 free rolls of tape and a gun for about $48 which was the best deal I found for the #714 gun plus some tape.

From what I read it to say is, that it is for the tape only, as you have to order it in increments of 6.
I bought my ATG 714 a couple years back and have had problems with it where the tape gets stuck and difficult to use mid way through the tape. I called 3M and they sent me a replacement part and i still have problems. It actually hurts my wrist to use it.
I am so frustrated with it that I am thinking of buying a new one and just getting rid of this thing. Are the new ones working properly now?
Stamper for fun, I would call them again!! I have the same problem and have been wanting to call them again, only I am too lazy to search for the phone number again.
My replacement part did make an improvement. Instead of it become horrible midway through, it is now horrible closer to the end. When I reach that point, I cut the tape and apply it manually. I release whatever amount I need, hold it down it (so it doesn't curl) with one hand, and then with the other, I lay down whatever needs to be taped right over the tape. It's an inconvenience, but I have been just too lazy to look for the phone number. The 3M lady with whom I spoke said the ATG should be as joyfully easy to use at the end as it is in the beginning (of the roll).

So glad to hear I Am not the only one who had these problems...I hate my ATG!!!!!! Turned out to be a very expensive tool that I rarely use becasue I find to so frustrating when I do.....

If you read the ad you'll see that you have to buy in increments of 6. So it's not that you get 6 rolls of tape with the gun but that you have to buy 6 atg guns at $41.83 ea to get the low price. Even were you see the button to buy it's set on a quantity of 6.
For everyone who has an ATG gun and hates it because it gets horribly difficult to use towards the end, call Barb at 1-800-285-3215 Ext 31. She will walk you through directions on how to test the gun to see if the tension is on the proper setting.
I submitted an online form to Solutions at 3M (mentioned at the bottom of Post 22), and got an email asking for my phone number. I replied in an email and then she called me and walked me through it and gave me tons of info about what could be wrong. She is very pleasant to talk to.
I purchased one (1/4") of my ATG's at Amazon.com. I also opened up a charge account with them and received a $30.00 credit so I only paid $35.00 for the red ATG.
The other ATG (1/2") I purchased on EBAY, it cost me about $54.00 with S&H, but it came from the United Kingdom and included 4 rolls of refill tape. I felt this was a good deal, most of the cost was for shipping.

The website is framing supplies, sorry about that. That is a favorite of mine, I normally order in bulk (12-24 rolls) at a time. The service is great also. The reason I have 2 ATG's is that I soooo loved using the 1/4" gun and at a recent class I used the 1/2" one and the tape for the 1/2" is just like the Scotch double sided tape. I am in 7th HEAVEN using them!!!! You will love them too. Nice chatting with you.
I was one of the customers that got a 'bad' 3M ATG 714. Call 3M and talk to Barb. I would not want her job 'for all the tea in China' because she was the go-to person responsible for all the customer complaints on this issue. I had to talk to her several times because the replacement part also did not solve my problem. I was sent a whole new ATG and it works great!!
When I began papercrafting, I spent $60-$70 on adhesive in the first few months so decided that $$ on the front end would save $$$$ on the back end. The place I bought my ATG has since been sold and no longer sells to the public. The price I paid was the best I saw at the time and I did lots of online price comparisons.
Good luck on your issue and I am sure Barb will 'make it right' for you. She is a wonderful assest to their customer service department. Actually, all the people I talked to when getting referred to Barb seemed pleasant.
Does anyone have any trouble with the strip of adhesive sliding part way off the applicator roller? Mine for some reason wants to move sideways a bit so it's half on the rubber applicator and half off as I'm applying the adhesive to my project.
I have to open the cover and push down on the roll itself and then slide the strip of adhesive over on the rubber applicator, but it always seems to move sideways the next time I'm using it and starts to come off again.
I have the red gun that holds the 1/4" adhesive. I really love this tool, but I'm getting frustrated. Please, if anyone has any advise on this would be helpful.
I am a lefty and am not comfortable with the ATG. Is there a suggestion for how to keep the tape from moving off the "reel"? I guess I am asking for "lefty" solutions. I have tried to use my right hand with some success. I really like the ATG just need a little help to make it my go to adhesive tool. Thanks

Yes, I have had this happen a few times. It's the roll of tape. Not the gun. I bought a box of tape where most of the rolls did that. Drove me crazy! I kept having to push it back over. You just need a new roll of tape.

It may be the tape like Lilsweetpea says, but after my wonderful customer service experience, I would call Barb anyway and explain the problem. If it IS the tape, she might offer to send you out another few rolls of tape, for example.
