Default SBVC104 - Pieced Traditions

Sorry for the delay once again with posting this week's challenge. Living in New England you just never know what the weather will bring. Yesterday we got 6 inches of the wet heavy white stuff. bleck! So I was outside shoveling for a good while and felt like I broke my back.

Anyway, todays challenge is to make a layout based on a Holiday Tradition. BUT, when creating your page I want you to include a paper pieced item that represents your tradition.

Ideas:

baking cookies (gingerbread) with the kids. cut out a piece of brown cardstock and apply small paper pieces representing the icing.

decorating the tree: paper piece the layers of the tree with different pattern papers

lighting the Menorah: cut a base for the candleabra, slivers of paper for the candles.

making ornaments: cut out a shape of an ornament and lay on the paper layers.

I think you get the picture. lol.. Here is a link to some paper piecing ideas.

I look forward to seeing your layouts.

that's a lot of snow Diana! I sure don't miss that.

I haven't done paper piecing in a long time, but the first tree is adorable, may have to give it a try. thanks for the challenge and the link.

This is my first time looking at one of the "threads" (Is that right?) for scrapbooking. I am still working on my wedding album from 10 1/2 years ago. I think I went into too much detail! LOL I think that looking at some of your pages might help me learn to "skinny down" the pages to the main focal view. I hope! I am joining the Christmas Card Challenge 2010. I am also doing a scriptural study. I hope to finish that album by August at the latest!! I'm interested in how you work a paper piecing in to a scrapbook page, or do most of you keep an album of challenges vs. using the techniques in your regular scrapbooks? Thanks so much!

Traci welcome to the scrapbooking threads (you were right by the way). If I am doing a page for one of my boys I would put that in his album. I do not keep an album just for the challenges or techniques. To incorporate a paper pieced item into your scrapbook challenge you just include it like an embellishment. Here is a link for some ideas: http://www.scrapbooksetc.com/printab...ccents/?page=1

I hope this helps.

Have a Happy Holiday.
