Default What is your favorite craft magazine?

Hi All.
Was wondering what is everyone's favorite magzine and why?

I love Take Ten: like the cards ten mintues or less.

Also love Just cards. Like seeing all the designs.

I like Just Cards, too, and its parent publication, Stamp and Scrap Arts. My favorite magazine, the only one I buy instead of just read at the book store, is Scrapbooks, Etc.

I'm glad to see this thread. I actually have the same question. For Christmas I usually ask for a renewal of my STAMPER'S SAMPLER but I am actually getting a little bored with it. I am also looking for a new publication for ideas.

I also like PAPERCRAFTS except I think it's more about selling the latest papers and stamps than techniques and ideas. The Christmas card issue was very nice this year, however.

I do like the TAKE TEN issues. They are a bit more mainstream rather than just emphasizing mainly collage.

Alas for the days of RUBBER STAMPER! The new CRAFTS magazine just doesn't have enough stamping stuff for me.

I hope to hear from some more folks on this topic as I have to make a decision soon on my Christmas subscription.

I like Paper Crafts. I love the Take Ten and Somerset, but those are a treat for me now that M's won't let me use the coupon anymore.

I like Papercrafts Magazine and when I am tempted to pick up some other craft/stamping magazine I remind myself that I can get plenty of good ideas here on SCS!

Take Ten, Art Journaling (from Stampington/Somerset), Somerset Apprentice, Cloth Paper Scissors. Occasionally buy Somerste Studio and Rubber Stamp Madness.

I've stopped buying all craft magazines. They are too full of ads and not full of enough ideas anymore for me. They are also totally about "creating" new trends, mostly just as a sales tactic.

There are so many fabulous blogs out there that any ideas or tutorials I want I can find on the 'net. And, reading on the Internet is "green".

I get Creating Keepsakes, scrapbooks etc, paper crafts and I also get handmade, cards, bead something or other and scrapbook today online!! Cheap and easy to store! I used to get Making Memories but it went too artsy for my taste. If you like vintage/shabby eye candy and inspiration, Somerset Life is indispensable! I love most of the Stampington magazines but I don't buy take 10 anymore or Stampers Sampler-fabulous mags but I get that type of inspiration from here and the blogs I follow. Canadian Scrapbooker is pretty good but too expensive!

My favorite is Just Cards because it showcases stamped cards much more than cards that are created from designer papers and embellishments. Another favorite is Technique Junkies, which is only available to buy on-line, because it offers a variety of stamping techniques. I enjoy Scrap & Stamp Arts and Card Maker, too, but I'm dropping my subscription to Crafts and Papercrafts. I can check these out from my library, instead.

I don't subscribe anymore. Instead, I use a google reader to enter my favorite stamping blogs to view on a regular basis and it holds tons of them. Fast viewing, and it's like looking at magazine pages, at no cost. another favorite internet find

I don't get anything anymore (except the Stampin' Success demo-only monthly magazine of course). There's just too many cards/projects that don't appeal to me. If I need ideas there are far more efficient ways for me to get them these days, without all the ads.

I knew I could let my subscriptions go when I wasn't excited to read it immediately the day it came, didn't mark anything to look at later, and never pulled it out of the file again.

I really liked Cardmaker's for awhile but the last two issues feel like all the articles are being written by the companies submit the ads. ...Kind of like watching a movie on TV that has too much product placement.

I really like Take Ten - not because the cards take 10 minutes (I want to meet these people who make these in 10 mins! LOL!) but because the layout challenges and the different spotlights really give me some worthwhile ideas.

In the end tho, when budget is tight, Splitcoast and blogs are really good for inspiration.

I like VSN (Vamp Stamp News). Not a lot of adds. They highlight a particular technique each magazine with step by step directions. They have a section on the latest tools. It's not real expensive and I learn from every magazine.

This issue of Card Maker totally rocks! Congratulations to Melanie Muenchinger, Carolyn King and Tami Mayberry along with many other talented designers you will find here on SCS, on all of your beautiful published projects! They have quite a few pages of this issue wrapped up!

Tanya Fox, the editor of this magazine, really knows how to put together a magazine with huge, gorgeous photos, step-by-step instructions for every card, great ideas for the inside of your card and matching envelopes too!

I love this magazine because just about every card, whether it's detailed or clean and simple, is stamped. And the size of each photo allows you to see lots of detail. Tanya is really great about bringing in new designers each issue along with many experienced designers so every card doesn't look the same.

Check it our here:

Of course, one of my Christmas presents to myself is a renewal!

I love Cards magazine most of the time. I got a stack of back issues at CK Convention summer 2008 and they are my faves. A few months ago I received a fabulous email offer so used gift money to subscribe. As seems to happen so often, I love a magazine, decide to subscribe, then they have a string of issues I never would have bought there is not a whole lot of stamping.

So I am back to picking up issues that have something that appeals to me - that usually is Papercrafts, Just Cards, Card Creations and Cardmaker.

My absolute favorite is Take Ten. There are just so many great ideas to draw inspiration from in each issue, tho like someone else said it's hard to imagine making most in just ten minutes!

I also like Stampers Sampler, and RubberStampMadness is a good one for showing a different type of stamping. Definately not just a bunch of dp with stickers/embellishments.

glad that Vamp Stamp News got mentioned! it's a joy to have it come every month, and i like the focus on a particular technique or two that each issue has.
also like CardMaker and Just Cards. still enjoy Rubberstampmadness, but miss the old big, 'newspapery' type issues from way back. (oops, that REALLY dates me!)
and really miss Rubberstamper.
But the internet has become more important for my inspirations for cards, than trying to drag out all my back issues to try to find an idea-17 years of back issues weigh a ton!

i have sold some of my various back issues on Ebay-that way i am 'recycling' and someone else can enjoy the magazines. i have also given some to friends, and have donated them to thrift stores-normally, they don't like to get magazines, but the places that i give to have many 'crafty' people that are volunteers. they love 'em.

Most of my inspiration comes from here on Splitcoast but there are times when you need to flip through pages so I like Take Ten, Stampers Sampler, PaperCrafts, CardMaker, and Just Cards. I asked for a subscription to 1 or 2 magazines this year (gave DH links so I'll be surprised; he likes to have a wishlist but also like to surprise me so I try to give him things to choose from). Not sure if I'll get any since there are lots of other things (some not even craft-related) on the list but that's why waiting for December 25th is so hard .

I have subscriptions to Paper Crafts and Papercraft inspirations. The latter is an English magazine and fairly expensive 13.50 Canadian per 4 weeks, but you do get a gift every month, be it glitter or stamps, or stickers etc.

It is hard to find these magazines in my area - hence the subscriptions
