We've started up a group and are seeking members that would like to volunteer time and/or material to create scrapbooks for foster children in our area! We're looking to launch our first event on Saturday, January 16th, 2010. We need all the support we can get to make this a memorable day for these children.

The group is called "Creating Memories for Foster Children" here is a description of the group:
A group of scrapbooking enthusiasts and other volunteers willing to donate their time and materials with children in foster care for the purpose of creating scrapbooks that the children can take with them no matter where they go. For many children in foster care, pictures and keepsakes are all they have, many of them using shoe boxes and envelopes to keep them safe. Too many of these children will move from one foster home to another and will possibly lose their keepsakes if they are not provided with the means to keet together.
This group will help create scrapbooks and journal books. We will also have events to create cards that can be sent to the children on special occassioos or just to provide words of encouragement.
For volunteers, this is an opportunity for you to share your passion with these children and to be provided the opportunity to show them how important their memories are. You will not only be able to give a blessing but receive one as well!
These children have lost so much already, let's work together to ensure that they don't lose their memories!
