Default Copic Color Combos

I recently received my Copics and love them. I am having a blast playing with them and getting my blending technique down.

I am wondering does anyone have any color combos they can't live without or are constantly going back to?

I am looking for everything, from skin to hair and clothes to scenes.

I have searched and searched, but can't find a thread with just copic color combos.

Any help would be great.

Also, when you tell your color combo, what do you use it for? Example : Blue Jeans, or grass etc.

Thanks,
Amanda

This is a thread I want to be a part of! I love your idea.

I dont have my Copic chart in front of me, but when I get home, Ill look for the combos I use a lot. I look forward to seeing what everyone suggests.

Subscribing. I am particularly interested in things that are not "soul mates" so to speak like YG00, YG03, YG06. Things like combining a YG in one 10s family with a G in another tens family. Or using a red to highlight a yellow and how they blend.

I am finding that the combos of colors that are really close, you almost can't even tell you blended more than one color.

I have been trying to find others and though who better to ask than SCS?

Hopefully we will get some great ideas and it will help others find combos they hadn't thought of.

I love using my Copic's and for most things I just guess at, I do keep track of the colors that I use in case I find a combo that I really like. As for Skin and Hair I have the PDF instructions from this site http://www.scrapbitz.blogspot.com/ If you scroll down you will see her tutorials on coloring hair, skin and clothes on the right side and if you go just a little further she has a PDF area so that you can print off the tutorial. HTH.

You should check out the thread under, "copic chatter"...lots and lots of posts with all the questions answered that you asked. Also check out you tube videos under copic.. or copic tutorials. There is a wealth of information that is really great. I love mine and use them all the time...

Tail of a mermaid, primary color BG34 - Horizon Green. Shaded with BG72 Ice Ocean and a touch of BG75 Abyss Green.

Red Hair for Ariel - Primary color R24 - Prawn, Heavy shading with R29 - Lipstick Red, touch of R59 - Cardinal

Off to go play.

Love the foliage. I have tons of stamps with that and I couldn't seem to get it right.

Great colors for a mermaid. Now I need a stamp to go with:rolleyes:!

Thanks,
Amanda

I second the rec. of this blog; it's the one blog that I actually return to again and again with oodles of helpful info on Copics. But, and this is just me, I've found some nice color combinations there, but I have to look for them.

I'm so glad I found this thread! I was wondering how to mix colors for shading, etc. I did find a site this morning that describes their numbering system, but that didn't really help as far as combinations! Let's keep sharing! I love Copics!

I just purchased my first markers, and I used the color combos that PaperTrey sells. I started out with the ones that coordinate with Aqua Mist, Berry Sorbet, and Grass Green. There are three shades in each.

Talking Good morning!

Thanx Krista! Did you buy the Ciao or the Sketch? Can someone explain the difference??? Is the numbering system the same? I was given a BG13 Sketch, and had a BG23 Ciao and they look exactly the same to me! I want to start on one or the other so I can invest wisely-

Default ciao/sketch

If I'm not mistaken; the coloring should be the same. the ciao are slightly smaller and cheaper. Depending how you want to store them, on the ciao the name and number are on the side of the marker, the sketch has the number on the top/bottom of marker. So you would have to store ciao on the side to view the color number. Sketch can be used with the airbrush system, where i don't think ciao can. Anyone can correct me if I am wrong.

Thanx for the info! I figured they must be the same numbering system, but the two looked alike to me in color. I think I will start collecting the sketch, although airbrushing is way out of my league!

When I first purchased Copics, I bought just the Ciaos, thinking they would be plenty for me. Once I started using them, well need I say more; I started blending up a storm, and using far more colors than I ever imagined. I then had to start filling in with the Sketches, and the rest is history!!! Now, I love them, and am amazed at how much I use them as opossed to my other methods of coloring.

When you check out the blogs of people like Suzanne Dean, Marianne Walker, Mary Giemza, Claudia Rosa, you realize how beautiful and intricate shading can be and just how detailed you can make things. I've learned so much from these women, and love my hobby all the more!!!

I'll add my own list too...

I've got a Copic FAQ page on my blog and I have put together 5 "kits" with 12 colors each for beginners... (I don't actually sell them... it's just a list that I share.) You can find it HERE.
