Default Where do you buy non-white cs for card bases?

Our local scrapbook store had a ton of paper, but closed. Our local stamp store doesn't carry cardstock.

I bought from PTI and *love* their stuff, but it's so hard to buy colors online. Two of the colors I bought I ended up not liking at all, which is just frustrating.

SU? There's local consultants so I could see before I buy. Otherwise I'm pretty stuck with what I can find at Target, which is a whole lot of nothing.

How far are you from GinaK store? I am pretty sure they carry cardstock there. Might want to call first. I see they have limited hours.

Stampin' Up offers assorted packages, so you can get just a few sheets of everything. Once you see the colors you like and use, then you can buy a full pack. It's a nice way to try things out, and who knows you may end up really liking a color that you did not anticipate. Their colored cardstock is nice and thick to use as a base.

I get cardstock from Marco's Papers and The Paper Cut

http://www.marcopaper.com/special.htm - They sell at conventions and online....good quality cardstock - get on the mailing list and watch for specials....i.e. no shipping or sales discounts. They carry full sheets as well as half sheet packs for cards. Also carry the variety of matching envelopes....as well as other products. If you happen to purchase $50 - you used to be able to get their sample book so that you could see each of the varieties. They also have a page that you can link to the variety of papers and it describes their uses- on their "Can I stamp on this?" page = http://www.marcopaper.com/canistamponthis.htm

http://www.thepapercut.com/
They sell online, at conventions and via local scrapbook and stamp stores....also carry a good quality and variety of cardstock....as well as pre-cut cards.

Good Luck!

Stampin' Up!'s cardstock really is great quality. As suggested above you can get the assorted packs so you can play with it to see what colors you love. Or a local demo would likely show you the colors so you can see them in person first. If you have a catalog I think the colors as shown in there are pretty true to life.

Other than Bazzill, I mostly use TAC's basic CS for bases. The colors are great (kraft, brown, navy, olive, scarlet, black, aspen, birch, etc.), and the CS is so heavy that the bases are sturdy.

I use SU!, PTI and Gina K. PTI also sells a sampler pack. That's what I bought mainly so I would have a sample of all the colors in person. When I run out of a color, I will replace it with a pack of that color. And yes, PTI sells 50 sheets for $9. They also sell in smaller quantities ($3 for 12 sheets, $5 for 24 sheets.) The sampler pack is 50 sheets and $9. Excellent paper.

I use alot of different weights of cardstock but I like the SU cardstock for cards. I find that it can support any amount of layering that i might do and stands up nicely on the table. Most people display their cards by standing them up somewhere and I find with the SU cardstock, my cards do stand nicely. I buy packs of basic colors to use as the bases and then go from there. Good luck!

I definitely say SU for White, Ivory or Kraft Bases their 8-1/2 X 11 pack comes in 40 sheet packs. I am also a huge fan of Bazzill but I usually use it for my matting or die cutting... Although SU's textured CS is just like Bazzill and of course makes it easy if you use SU Inks for matching when you stamp...

At 8 mos. pregnant (congratulations, btw!!!), I'd go with the door-to-door convenience of having an SU demo get my paper for me, lol!

I mostly use Stampin Up cardstock. I just love the colors and never have been disappointed. I also get some from Target I believe it's Wausau cardstock. It's good in a pinch but I much rather use SU. I'm also from WI and it's hard when you don't have a craft store close.

I buy from myself. The Angel Company has some really good White Card stock. And we carry Bazzill Card stock,

I also purchase White & colored Card stock from Stampin up!

I have to also vote for SU. I started by getting a pack of each of the color families, then replace as necessary when I need more of one color. I love the colors, and that I can get inks that match perfectly. I also love having home delivery (even though my LSS is just over a block away now!).

I love the SU cardstock for my cardbases. I started with a sample pack of each color family and then started ordering packs of the individual colors as I could. It took me a couple of years but I finally have all of the colors. Good luck!

I too am a SU fan! Like others have said a local demo would be more than happy to show you the colors live and in person. It really does make a difference to see/feel/touch before you buy!

I too like SU especially since they came out with texture. I found AC Cardstock at Michael's. It came in an assortment of 15 colors in a 60 sheet pack of 12 x 12 textured. They price was very reasonable.

Ok, here's a great secret: Sam's Club has really fantastic white cardstock (only white unfortunately). It is usually located by the photo paper and is made by Georgia Pacific and is called Image Plus+ Card Stock. It is 110 # paper 250 sheets for LESS THAN $ 8.00 (I think it was $ 7.66 last time I bought it). You can not find a better buy than this. I have sent a lot of my friends there and they have all loved this cardstock. If you can't find it, go to the service desk and give them this info because Sam's does carry this!

I found Close to My Heart (CTMH) before SU and I find their colours and stamp styles more to my taste. Without having tried the SU cardstock, I can't tell you how it compares, but I have been perfectly happy with my CTMH cardstock for bases. I can layer to my heart's content. Being white core, it distresses beautifully, if I so desire. Like SU, they have co-ordinating patterned papers, inks, etc and they operate in the same demo/home party style of business. Best of Luck!
