NC/SC/GA/TN Gathering
Realizing someone has to just step up and take the responsibility, here are some questions as we push forward and plan a gathering for the 5th of March.
So here are the questions:
How far and to what city would you be willing to drive?
a. I-40 and I-77/Winston-Salem area
b. Raleigh
c. Concord
d. Somewhere else
How much would you be willing to pay?
a. Nothing
b. $5
c. $10
d. Would depend on how long we were going to meet
Where?
a. Church
b. Restaurant
c. Auditorium someplace
Please post your answers.
This could definitely include Tennessee and Georgia gals as well. I'm willing to use what very little connections I have to find a place where we can meet. Just looking for a response.

Looking for excitement first ~ plans second. I know the holidays are hectic for most, but we won't be doing much so I can do some planning in December (after I get my cards to Keri ). I'll definitely Kick this to the top and keep interest up.

woo hoo
I would love to get together. I live in SC, so the Charlotte/Concord area would get my vote. Cost ? That would depend upon what is included ... but I'd prefer to keep it simple and low cost.
Keep us posted -- sounds like fun.

Oh, Oh, I wanna come too!
I live in Greenville/Spartanburg area (Upstate) SC. Winston Salem is about a 3-3 1/2 hr. drive from me. Concord would be closest for me.
I'd be willing to pay whatever, within reason.
Put my name down for that day please!
Thanks!

I'm a lurker here on the boards, but I would love to get together. I'm close to Charlotte, but willing to drive. Ten bucks would probably be as high as I would want to go.

In a rough guestamation of what I would like to see happen ~
Breakfast "buffet" of things like danishes and juice.
Make and takes for a couple of hours with demonstrations on the side.
Lunch ~ sandwiches
More talking and make and takes
Not a whole lot of organization, just something fun. Then find a local restaurant to go out and eat at the end of the day.
What do you think?

i think it sounds like great fun, i am in North Georgia but probably wouldn't be able to come.....a little too far for a drive. Charlotte would be about the farthest I could go
I vote for Spartanburg cuz I used to live there
will keep my eyes open and see what happens
thanks Kymbers for doing this

To all the questions
I would be willing to do whatever the others decide regarding location, expenses, etc.
I would also volunteer for any projects you think need to be done to help the project along.
Thank you for taking the task to hand or something..................
Just let me know what you need regarding any of it.
HTH,
Shirley

Gosh! How did I miss this the first time around?
Would love to go, and spending whatever is deemed necessary. Personally (and a little selfishly, considering my locale) I think the Concord area would be great! You have tons of hotels and shopping in the area ( exit 49 off of I-85 has Concord Mills Mall and tons of places to eat & stay). That might be nice for people coming a little farther away.
And here's a thought - my church is located right next to the Lowes Motor Speedway and would be easy to find from exit 49. It used to be a go kart track/arcade and is a giant room with lots of space, bathrooms and a little kitchen type area (no stove though). I'd have to talk to my pastor to see what they might be willing to 'rent' the space for and if they'd give it to us for free. And obviously we couldn't use it on a Sunday!
My only question is why the 5th of March was chosen? There is a regional convention for SU demos the next weekend in Atlanta. That might make it hard to get away for people who want to do both, being one right after the other and all. Just a thought to consider.
(Sorry about the smilie. My son always has to pick one when he sees me on SCS. He calls this one "the dude".)

As of Dec 31, I will be living in Charlotte. I'd love to meet up with people if it were within a short drive of Charlotte and the cost was reasonable.

Re: NC/SC/GA/TN Gathering
Kymbers_Stampin - my DH runs a seminar events company and he can get a discounted rate at a local hotel here in Conyers, GA. That's about 30 miles southeast of Atlanta. Are you planning a weekend or day thing?
I'm willing to drive and pay whatever it takes for a day of stampin'!!

Okay, I must say first ~ I'm excited this post is back to the front page!!
Now ~ the date issue ~ I picked it because no one would step up and it was strategic to spring breaks. I have no clue when the Atlanta regional is because I want to go to DC. I did try checking the SU online calendar when I closed my eyes and picked a date, but Atlanta wasn't on it at the time.
At this point in time planning has to kick into high gear if we are still going to do this. Lets decide or it will be early summer (and I mean June) before we can do this if we don't plan now.

Concord is just 20 minutes North of Charlotte on I85.
Winston Salem is another 1 hour north on I85 I think?

Ah, phooey! I wish I could do this, although I'd rather meet in SC than NC but with the Atlanta Regionals the next weekend I better pass this one up. I would have loved to met y'all though.

I'm going to DC, too. However, March 3rd doesn't work for me. I don't know how I missed the date in the orginal post...or maybe I didn't. But I will be spending the first week of March visiting Billings, MT and my new baby niece.

NC gets my vote
I would love to come if I can. Sounds like a good time. I can't go to regionals and this would be a fun time I am sure. NC gets my vote since I am from here. The closer the better for me, being selfish here. Concord is a great location for shopping and right off the interstate.

I would love to come; however, I'm a summer person. I know two other gals who would probably be willing to come, but it would have to be after the first of May. Of course, since I'm in the western mountains of NC, I would LOVE to have one in the Asheville area. Would it be too inconvenient to have one in the eastern area and one in the western area?

Soo ... have we decided on anything specific yet? This would be cool. I would also offer a vote for Spartanburg, SC -- It is convenient to I-85 and I - 26.

Charlotte is a nasty city. Driving is bad and there are relatively few nice places and none that are cheap. I learned quickly Charlotte ranks up there with Los Angeles. Been there three time and I'm done now (three strikes and you're out)!! Concord is a far superior area.
The problem with other months is May is completely out. I've got races to attend 2 weekends in May and April everyone complained about. I don't mind April, we just picked March because of previous sring holiday objections.
And for anyone that's wondering why I have the distaste in my mouth about Charlotte, I'll attached a pic of the AAA recommended Days Inn we stayed in our first night here. Yes, the door is baracaded and clothes and towels stuff in the door to keep it closed ~ and no, they wouldn't let me change rooms.

A thought relating to the March date:
NC is known for the possibility of snow and/or ice storms in the first half of March.
Just a thought....

Just checking in - has this idea officially been stalled till after Atlanta Regionals?
Should we start a thread to gather at regionals?
