I store any ribbons under 1 yard in those plastic paint cans, they look great! I store rolls of ribbons on the spools in plastic ribbon holders I bought at Michaels with coupons - I have 9 of those stacked in 3's on top of the bookcases of stamp sets! The paint cans sit among the stamp sets and atop wooden crates.
I've heard too many stories of jars of ribbon becoming tangled messes. So I do it a bit differently. I take each ribbon (or a few yard piece off a large bolt of ribbon) and put it in a sandwich sized ziploc bag. Then I sort the bags by color into boxes (I use these from Ikea http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/90115488 ). I have a red box, a pink box, a yellow box, a blue box, a green box, a purple box, an orange box, a black box, a white box, a cream box, a brown box, and a mixed colors box.
When I need a particular color for a project, I just pull out that box and can quickly sort through the bags to find what I want. Eventually, I want to put a small swatch of each on a ring, but I ran out of ambition after the "stuff and sort" LOL.

I keep mine on the rolls they come on and they are stacked neatly (on their sides so I can see the ribbon) in a rectangular wicker picnic basket. This works good for me. The loose ribbon I have (which isn't a lot) I just have in a plastic bag.

No - I store mine by color groupings (blue, green, etc) in boxes - those white shoe/photo boxes you can get at M's on sale - and put a label on the outside to indicate what color is in the box. I've found that the jars are too small for me and I don't want to have to take ribbon off the original spool and put it on something that will fit in a jar. I tend to purchase ribbon by the spool so the boxes work for me.
I store my ribbon bits-n-pieces in a jar - usually just what I've snipped off trimming a piece of ribbon or a piece not big enough for anything else. When the jar gets full, I use them to fill a glass ornament or two.

Yes, I store my ribbon in jars. I have them sorted by color.
I take them off the small spools, or cut a length if they are giant spools, and then wind them in a ball on themselves. I use small pins or tape to secure the ends, so they never get tangled.
I like this since the ribbon never gets creased or dusty.
I store mine in a plastic ribbion holder I got at michael's too. You decide the ribbon width and one end of the ribbon hangs out nicely so all you have to do is pull and cut. I really like my solution thus far
ribbon in a jar is more of a decoration than a storage system...I need to do better at organizing my ribbons...I have some on rolls, some in a plastic bin, some in boxes, and a lot in plastic bags
I store my ribbons on wooden clothespins in jars, and although it's pretty, it's not very practical. I have to dump out the entire contents of the jar to get to the one on the bottom. If I see something better, I will definitely change my storage system.
I store mine in jars by color. The ribbon is loose in the jars and very rarely gets tangled, mainly because I clean them out every six months or so. I just loop the length repeatedly around my fingers and then put it in the jar.

For me, ribbon in see through jars is *not* more a decoration than storage. It's perfect storage that just happens to look great. I don't have a huge stash so it works great for me. My ribbon stays dust free, untangled, doesn't ever need to be pressed before use, and is right in front of me...all of it.
Yes I do store mine in glass candy type jars. I wrapped all my ribbon around the clip type wood clothespins and sorted by color. Haven't had any problems with tangled ribbon because the ends are clipped into the top of the clothespin and are very secure.
This system is working a lot better than my old system of storing them in plastic floss bags on a ring.
I do my ribbon scraps in jars with similar colors and I do like it. My big amounts are still on rolls. The scraps are great like this and I can easily see what I have. If my piece is a bit long (over a half a yard), I'll do a figure 8 bundle around my thumb and middle finger then tie that off and that keeps my longer strands neat and tidy. It's a method I had to use when I worked for a fabric shop named Danneman's.
Some of them yes...in colour coded jars....then I have lots on rolls and I am happy to leave them like that...then I have some on specially made ribbon racks...yummo....and still more in a basket coz I ran out of room on the ribbon racks...bit ribbon obsessed!

Does anyone know what size container Becca used from amazing Paper grace for her ribbon? I would also like to know the drawer depth. I would love to do this but would rather know some demensions before I took the 40 minute drive to pick one of these up.

I just purchased a ribbon organizer from OrganizeMore. I can't wait to get it! I am hoping this will be my solution to storing my ribbon on spools. My loose ribbon I have in one of those clear ribbon bags. Honestly, though I am not particularly crazy of it. I think loose ribbon in a jar or basket would be better in the long run. By the time you pull it out of the clear bag it can be creased and you have iron it.

I wind them around my finger and use the ouchless goody rubber bands to bind them. A pack of 500 is $1.00 at Dollar Tree. That way they don't get all tangled and I can find what I'm looking for fairly easy.

What a great idea! Does it dent or wrinkle the ribbon? Or are they loose enough?
I used to do this, and it did look nice in my craft room. But after a while, the jars just couldn't accomodate my leftover ribbon (because I store them by color), and I was getting frustrated. I guess if you're using big jars and you have lots of space for them, that would be cool. But I had the smaller ones, so I had to change my system to wood crates.
I've tried several systems and I really dislike anything that I can't easily roll the ribbon back on the roll. I've finally settled on just wrapping the ribbon around matboard and securing with a pin. Here is a pic.
My advice is don't put a lot of money into a solution until you know it will work for you. I once saw this system where you rolled your ribbon into a nice tight roll and put it into a little tic-tac sized box. These were all stored in a larger box, OMG, what a mess for me. I never know exactly how much ribbon I need so once I pulled the ribbon out you couldn't roll the extra ribbon back into the box with out pulling out the entire roll and have to roll it back up. I spent all the money on the little boxes and cases, rolled up all by ribbon into the boxes. It looked so cool, but it was awful to use.

What a great idea! I have put lengths of different colors of ribbons in glass ornaments before to make a gift set, but never thought of collecting those small pieces left from other projects to put into an ornament--sounds like it would look really pretty. I'll have to try this...

I store my smaller ribbon spools in 1/2 gal size jar and the bigger spools are on a ribbon stand I made from an 8" wood circle and 3 dowels and the rest in gutters from Home Depot (this was such a genius idea! love it!)...ribbon is addicting! lol

My ribbon collection is not too big .........but I do aim to get it bigger!
I have some spools that I keep in a box but all my lengths I have sorted into colours and I have pinned each colour group onto a large safety pin and then hook this onto a large book ring and I keep it hooked on my door. I like it cos I can see all the colours and I just snip off what I need!
